I think the value is about right, but again (and we've had a lot of these lately--everyone trying to trade for Starlin Castro or deal him away) the Cubs and Yankees don't match up well. The Cubs need pitching prospects and Pineda is too risky with his injury history. The Cubs really don't need more middling OF prospects. Besides, Welington Castillo is one of the best kept secrets in baseball. Not quite a Lucroy-ian level of underappreciated, but I don't see Gary Sanchez as much of an upgrade as an all-around player (although he'll certainly hit more HRs).Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Sanchez + Pineda it must be. Unless again the guys above are killing it that Sanchez will be an A and Mason/Slade will be a B soon to be A. Also Nova must be pitching extremely well, which lends the question how are you doing and the pitching staff?
Edit: If you want to move Nova you can trade him + Mitchell for Altuve and then mover Williams or Heathcott and Bird for Everth.Last edited by guayo10; 05-22-2014, 11:39 PM.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Yeah I thought about that also. The thing is, the Twins have moved Mauer to 1b full time now. That's why I thought the Cards could use him. Maybe Adams/Jay for Mauer?Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Pretty sure you could get more, maybe Miller or Martinez. Don't remember what value they're given but the chart says 2 A's and a B. Maybe Wacha + Adams + Jay for Mauer + a prospect? Again this one is tougher to gauge as Craig would move full time to the OF.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Totte though Byrd would be a good 4th OF option for them as they traded Ethier a while ago. And do you mean not enough of a return for me? And I'm not really sure how to add onto the deal and keep it realistic. I could add another pitcher, but I didn't think they'd give up Urias and Pederson, so I went with Pederson and Lee, plus a solid bullpen option. What else do you think I could add and keep it realistic?
Yes. To clarify for those not having been in the discussion from the top: The Dodgers are making a push for the playoffs and are in win now mode (hence trading for Lee). They've already traded Ethier to the Angels and Pederson is their 4th OF with no quality OF'er behind him.
With Pederson being moved as a part of the Lee deal, there's no 4th OF and depth in the OF for that playoff push. That's why he's sending them Byrd. Crawford/Kemp/Puig with Byrd providing veteran leadership, making an occasional start, def replacement and PH appearance.Former modder of "Ultimate Rosters" for MVP Baseball 2005.

Yeah this is a tough one. I'm not sure the cards would be willing to include Wacha in that deal as he is still very young. Maybe Adams + Jay + a prospect for Mauer.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
I think my Yankees chise might have been saved over, sadly my roommate was playing and might have saved his over. Damn it. I'll probably start a new one with them again since I was only towards the end of ST. I was thinking of doing an NL one as well either with SF or Cubs. So lets play the hypothetical game, say Stanton & Fernandez both want out and look here the Cubbies are interested. What would a trade for both look? Draining the farm system wouldn't be a problem, would be ironic that the Fish help out the Cubbies try to get to the WS eh?
Something I've been thinking on with footnotes included
Marlins get SP Aaron Sanchez, SS Starlin Castro (between he and Baez I'd rather move him), SP CJ Edwards, SP Neil Ramirez, SP Pierce Johnson, RF Jorge Soler (not a fan, not a fan at all), 3B Christian Villanueva, SP Travis Wood, OF Junior Lake, 1B Anthony Rizzo (I'd rather move him than Bryant or Baez since I can't hit with him to save my life), OF DJ Davis, P Alberto Tirado, P Roberto Osuna
Cubs get RF Giancarlo Stanton, SP Jose Fernandez, SP Kevin Slowey, SS Kawasaki
Blue Jays get SP Jeff Samardzija, 2B Darwin Barney, C Jarrod Saltalamacchia, 3B Mike Olt
Again would love to keep Baez, Bryant for the rebuild. Almora & Alcantara as well. If need be though I can remove some players and add Almora + Alcantara. Also if need be I could add Baez + Bryant. Would like to do the one above but want to make it fair for both parties.
Would this work, fairness wise. Not realistic but if it works playing with the Cubs in Wrigley would be a lot more attractive.
Used some of the Samardzija trade ideas from previous posts. Also if it helps imagine this as a pre-spring training trade, a winter meetings type trade. Also not sure on the C situation for the Jays that's why I threw Salty in there.Last edited by guayo10; 05-23-2014, 12:40 AM.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Hmm it might be possible say Wacha+Jay+Adams for Mauer and Dozier. Might have to ask the others but I'm sure you could get Wacha if the chart says 2 A's. Adams is a B no?Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Doesn't look like the Cubs would have a first baseman after trading both Rizzo and Olt.
Aside from that.. there are so many pieces involved, I have no idea about fairness.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
But yeah, trading for both would realistically involve Bryant, Baez, Starlin, Almora & Samardzija imo. But I'd rather keep 2/3 of those 5, and Samardzija and Starlin aren't in that list, ha. Also remember the Jays trade for Samardzija earlier on in convos. Would probably start opening day with Stanton, Schierholtz, Castillo and Kawasaki. The Marlins would have a plethora of young prospects and a SS under control for 5 years for 5/6 mil. The Jays would get Samardzija. But yeah, way too many names. Late night thoughts man, nothing good happens after midnight.Comment

I'm just trying to find a way to play with Stanton & Fernandez without it being in that awful stadium, also preferably in the NL (a team not named St. Louis).Comment
