Think Garza + type of deal. Big game James is an ace but a rental ace. Bidding will be high.

It's a bit of a poor comparison because Shields had more team control back then, but the last time he was dealt, the Rays picked up Wil Myers (a top 5 spect at the time), Jake Odorizzi (a top 100 spect), Mike Montgomery (a top 250 spect at the time), and Patrick Leonard (a sneaky upside play who has a .875 OPS in A+ right now) for Shields and Wade Davis (who's become a RP).

Zach Lee or Chase Anderson alone doesn't really get in the ballpark of that.
If its an expiring contract, I can't see the Dodgers giving up too much. Lets say Lee+Windle+Stripling? If Shields is pitching well and he resigns? Ill separate from IRL because Shields has been disappointing there.

Sorry, but if we're talking extension, we're talking at least one of the big three and more imo

As in Pederson, Urias, or Seager? Anyone of these guys and Anderson is plenty good.

I think it would be 3 levels of prospects because other teams would be putting together offers. Lee/Anderson/Seager should end the bidding and Shields resigns 2 for 36mm.

I think at this point Shields would want to cash in one last time (5/90 or whatever) but aside from that, yeah, you and BM are right.

I'm using 30 team control for the 1st time, and I have a question about it. In order to effectively use your trade veto power do instant trades have to be set to off? After I saw Buxton get traded for a relief pitcher, that put me over the edge lol. Thanks in advance.

...With 2 option years. He is 33 this year! I swear, if the damn Yankees sign him to something like 5/90 this offseason...sorry off topic.

Maybe a front loaded 4 year deal with a vesting option and award bonuses. But now we're way off topic haha

What do you guys think I can realistically get for Smoak? I need a RH bat, preferably in the OF, or 1B

I have instant decisions off. Otherwise too many trades "sneak through".

Viciedo? Although calling him an OF is a stretch lol. Smoak for Michael Choice or something. To the Yankees for Ichiro? That could work! Rayburn from the Indians. Maxwell from the Royals.

Yankees tried to sell off Ichiro already. If you don't mind the salary, I could totally see an Ichiro reunion.

Shields is having a below average (definitely not a Cy Young candidate) year in Kansas City. He's just 5-9 and has an ERA of 4.26.

Then I doubt the Dodgers would pursue him, honestly

I've been eying Chris Carter. What else would I need to toss the 'Stros way for him? I'm thinking Smoak and Pike?
