Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
WARNING: EXTREMELY LONG POST AHEAD
I'm at July 17 in my New York Mets franchise, and I'm looking to make some deals for the CPU teams. I want everything to be fair and realistic, so I'm looking for some
Thanks for the help!
M. Wieters - CHW/SEA (expensive)
McHenry - TB
D. Murphy - TOR
JJ Hardy - DET
D. Span - BOS
D. Stubbs - TB
G. Floyd - CHW/CLE/MIN ...make them pay
D. Gee - TOR ...though he may get crushed in the AL East
As far as bullpen arms, unless it is a legit closer, I throw in a suitable arm to the buying team. Allows the seller to open a bullpen slot for the next kid wonder"for love of the game" - B. ChapelComment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Here's a few of my Mariners 14 chise I made at the deadline:
SEA:
Marlon Byrd OF
PHI:
Nick Franklin 2B
Brandon Mauer SP/RP
Stefen Romero RF
.........
NYY:
Cliff Lee SP
PHI:
Mason Williams CF
Greg Bird 1B
Dellin Betances RP
.........
HOU:
Bubba Starling RF
KC:
Jesus Guzman 1B
........
DET
Joaquin Benoit RP
SD:
Devon Travis 2B
...........
BOS:
Dayan Viciedo LF
CWS:
Garin Cecchini 3B
Brandon Workman SP
Tell me what you think. All trades were trying for both fairness and realism.
thanks to those how inspired or suggested some of the trades I made, keeps things interesting around trade deadline
trade 2: not enough for Lee, NYY doesn't have the prospects to make that deal.
trade 3: don't think the Royals do that, unless Guzman is playing very well. (What's the verdict on Starling guys? Do you see him as a mid C? Bc that's Guzman's value)
trade 4: assuming Travis is a B in game, it fits spreadsheet value. I wouldn't do it, but the Tigers might. I'd do two C's here instead. Even if the Tigers are desperate.
trade 5: please noComment

trade 1: too much for Byrd.
trade 2: not enough for Lee, NYY doesn't have the prospects to make that deal.
trade 3: don't think the Royals do that, unless Guzman is playing very well. (What's the verdict on Starling guys? Do you see him as a mid C? Bc that's Guzman's value)

For me, its completely circumstantial if the Royals trade him or not. I can't ever realistically see them trading Bubba Starling for a AAAA player or a career minor leaguer. The only way they move him is if he's part of a bigger trade. The Royals confidence in him is through the roof for whatever reason. The Royals would absolutely have to be blown away to move him...
For value sake though, I would have to say he's a high to mid C.
Also, I can't ever see the Royals doing a trade for Jesus Guzman unless Hosmer or Butler are out for extended periods of time... They already have plenty of bench players, in fact so many that they are rotating them through the 40 man roster. It makes little sense to trade someone like Starling in exchange for a marginal talent like Guzman. All that trade does is just take away another roster spot and create more headaches.
I've heard that sound 3 times... once was Babe Ruth, the second was Josh Gibson, and the third was Bo Jackson- Buck O'Neil

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Thank you for those who posted ideas for my Franchise trade deadline. Really like the suggestions.
As far as the person who posted the M's giving up Maurer, Franklin and Romero for Byrd, As a M's fan I would be really upset if we had to give up that much for Byrd.
I would be okay with Maurer and maybe a lesser OF like Morban, Blash, or Avery, but why give up a RHB OF bat to get a RHB OF bat and well Franklin lost his job to Cano, he still has way more value then to go in a package for someone like Byrd.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Thanks for feedback I was in need of a nap lol I reloaded a prior save and went with these trades for my M's and who are gonna make a wild card run.
SEA:
Brandon Mauer SR/RP (C)
Tyler Marlette C (C)
PHI:
Marlon Byrd RF (C)
................
SEA:
David Price SP (A)
TB:
Taijaun Walker SP (A)
Nick Franklin 2B (B)
Tyler Pike SP (B)
Daniel Farquhar RP (C)
Chris Taylor SS (B)
Give's the Ms a legit rotation for challenging the A's and Angels. TB is out of it and needs to restock it's young talent which this would do. M's grab Byrd as a good right bat...Comment

It kills me to say it because I'm a huge Bubba Starling fan but.... He's pretty much a lottery ticket at this point. He's hard to value because you still see these flashes of greatness. For instance, one day, he'll hit an opposite field grand slam 475 feet then the next day he'll whiff 5 times. He's still young enough that he can figure it out and there's still some hope he can be a star but it's quickly fading every time he takes the field.

If it's only fairness you're after, then I have no issues with you doing that. It's 100% unrealistic to make this trade though...too early and WAS would never trade Harper so young.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

For the "not enough" ones, which side has to give up more?Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Maybe just a Brewers and Mets deal
NYM gets: Roache/ Haniger/ Taylor
MIL gets: Ike Davis
The Mets still get an outfield prospect and the Brewers still get Davis.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
If you're serious, I'd recommend doing a search of the thread. Stanton is by far the most talked about player in this 500+ page thread. Trades to pretty much every team that could afford him have been hashed out already.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment
