Matt Joyce is definitely one of my favorite platoon options.

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
I am looking for a someone to replace or split with Torii Hunter. His defense is atrocious and he is slumping really hard in my franchise. I am in 1st place in the division but I am sitting at .500. I am eyeballing a few players:
Nate Schierholtz - 1.1M - Cubs - .259/.304/.419 270 AB 11 HR 35 RBI
Michael Cuddyer - 7.4M - Rockies - .317/.361/.563 167 AB (been hurt) 12 HR 27 RBI
Seth Smith - 630K - Padres - .236/.321/.264 72 AB 0 HR 5 RBI
Padres are in 2nd place in their division and 1st in the WC. They don't seem to use him, though.
Matt Joyce - 1.2 M - Rays - .244/.344/.398 246 AB 10 HR 42 RBI
All of these players are in the last year of their contracts (I believe). I am looking to see what they would ask for in return. All teams are out of it, barring the Padres. Cuddyer is the only one I'd expect to be priced high, but maybe I could afford him as a rental.
Also, there are no preexisting injuries going into this franchise. I didn't feel like going through all 30 teams. So Jose Iglesias is up and Eugenio Suarez is available. Austin Jackson and Drew Smyly are gone due to the David Price trade.
I am looking for you guys to kind of haggle me. I don't want to just look up what the spreadsheet says because I don't want to give up the "mid C" guy that I want to give. Trying to make it unbiased."for love of the game" - B. ChapelComment

I love Matt Joyce.

The Rockies would probably ask for the Soria-package for Cuddyer (Crawford and Knebel).
Agree with AC that Joyce is a really nice platoon option.
Schierholtz/Smith could probably be had for someone like Drew Verhagen (Cubs) or Tyler Collins (San Diego)Former modder of "Ultimate Rosters" for MVP Baseball 2005.

The Rangers received Jake Thompson and Corey Knebel. I completed that trade as well. Would Cuddy be available for a Crawford and something else deal?Nebraska Cornhuskers Detroit Tigers San Francisco 49ers Detroit Red Wings Syracuse Orange New York KnicksComment

If SD is in a chase, I don't think they would deal from MLB depth. Good deal for Schierholtz, much cheaper option."for love of the game" - B. ChapelComment

How about Crawford and another pitcher or Devon Travis? The Rockies OF is stacked already and Travis is blocked by Ian Kinsler. Rockies definitely need pitching and they don't have any 2B prospects that are worth anything.Nebraska Cornhuskers Detroit Tigers San Francisco 49ers Detroit Red Wings Syracuse Orange New York KnicksComment

Do the Joyce deal, it'll help you sleep at night knowing you gave the Rays some kind of value in a trade. Price deal was a steal for DET."for love of the game" - B. ChapelComment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Middle infielders are a dime a dozen, I want your next thumper...and I want him in Denver. Of course, if offered Crawford and Ziomek, I'd be a fool to turn it down. IRL Cuddy will retire in Denver and be a hitting instructor or something...

You really think he will retire there? That'd be cool with me, they are my fav. NL team. I think had he been healthy, he may have been trade bait this season. I wonder if they can really afford him, too. He is getting up there and they are limited in the money game.Nebraska Cornhuskers Detroit Tigers San Francisco 49ers Detroit Red Wings Syracuse Orange New York KnicksComment

Thanks for all the help. I am torn on Cuddy or Joyce.

Besides, I have a feeling DEN payroll is going to open up some room sometime around the winter meetings (i.e., Tulo or Cargo)."for love of the game" - B. ChapelComment
