Would like some feedback on this trade. I'm playing as the Yankees, trying to make a final run for Jeter. As it stands I have not made any moves, choosing to keep my team intact (also having little to trade with and receive and immediate return).

I'm currently 57-44 and 4.5 games out on Toronto for the division while being one game up on the Mariners for the first wildcard spot and two games up on Baltimore for the second spot. The Athletics who are 53-47 are 4.5 games out of the division and 2.5 games out on the Mariners for the second wildcard.

They have offered me a trade:

CF Jacoby Ellsbury (89 OVR, 30 Years Old, B Pot) Ellsbury is batting .287 with 16 HRs and 56 RBI while leading the stolen base chase. He is my leadoff man.

In Return For:

SS Javier Baez (76 OVR, 21 Years Old, A Pot)
1B Matt Olson (54 OVR, 20 Years Old, A Pot)
CF Sam Fuld (75 OVR, 32 Years Old, C Pot)

My 25 man roster would be Ichiro, Alfonso Soriano, and Carlos Beltran, and Brett Gardner, with 3B Yangervis Solarte having a backup LF designation if I were to move Ellsbury without picking up an immediate replacement. I'd move Garner to Center, have Beltran move to left and stick Irchiro in right due to him having the strongest arm on the team. Soriano is my DH, and have Solarte as the replacement player and I could always call up a player if need be.

So with that said, I want to take anther prospect and not some 32 year old journeyman (I've enough of those). I want to take AA All-Star CF Billy McKinney (61 Ovr, 19 years old B Potential). The way I see it is that the SS can replace Jeter immediately next season. The 1B will be around 27 or 28 when he goes is ready which means a short interregnum between him and Tex. The center field prospect should be ready to go by the time Gardner retires as well. To me the deal seems like a good idea on paper. While my immediate chances for glory fall, I'm not completely killing myself, and I am setting myself up for a brighter future (or trade furture trade bait).

So my question to the galley is this, would it be a fair deal for me to take three good prospects for Ellsbury, after signing him in the offseason, to a team that is itself looking to make a playoff push.

I am confused. If you are trying to make 1 last push for Jeter, why would you trade a Leadoff hitting CF who leads the league in SB's for 3 prospects.

The trade in unrealistic because they just signed Ellsbury to start with, but to me the who thing just doesn't make any sense. If you are trying to win now, you would want to acquire veterans who will help you win now, not try and replace the Captain with Baez, who isn't going anywhere..

Also trying to figure out how S Fuld is on the Cubs roster. He should've been a Twin and is now in Oakland in real life.

OK, fair enough. This deal is not fair and it's even worse if you are trying to keep your moves realistic. You could not get Baez alone for Ellsbury, let alone another couple of prospects on the side.

How did the Cubs get Matt Olson, by the way? Or is Baez somehow on Oakland?

I am still trying to figure out how the Cubs got S. Fuld again. I realize he was on the team in 2010.

I dunno if the Jays would do that, but it isn't particularly bad, so eh.

The Sox and the Rays are hot on their asses in the East. I can see AA getting nervous after at one point having a 10 game lead in the East.

I am still trying to figure out how the Cubs got S. Fuld again. I realize he was on the team in 2010.

I am actually thinking, through some abomination of nature, Baez is on the A's in this chise. He quoted Oakland's record (did not mention the Cubs) and is also referencing other guys on the A's (Olson, Fuld).

lol, I saw that at first, but figured I was seeing things. Would love to see what he gave up for Baez (not really because I know it's bad)

Damn, this trade will screw me, as Toronto should run away with the division. But it's something AA would do. I'll send it thru.

This is a rough draft proposal and idk if he's worth more and I doubt he's worth less.

Mookie Betts, Anthony Ranaudo and Deven Marrero for Latos.

He has an arb. year left. I don't see him going realistically. I'd reccomend Cueto if realism is a factor.

If realism doesn't matter, you may need a little more than that. How is Latos, Mookie and Ranaudo doing?

Thanks for the quick response as I'm sorting this out now. I meant to ask if it was more realistic for Cueto which I figured it was. Is that a good package for Cueto in the game he has a 3.72 era.

Yes, that's good value for Cueto. On the spreadsheet (see OP for details on that), Cueto is listed as High B + High B. So Mookie and Tony would fit that bill.

Latos stats are

1.39 whip
117 so
.287 opponents average

And I'm a week before the deadline reds are 14 gb

Appreciate the help guys! If I were to try for Latos what would I have to add? He interests me more but if it's unrealistic I would never do that to my franchise. And also if I don't have the prospects I would understand.

For Cueto, you'l need to give up AT LEAST Cecchini, Barnes/Ranaudo, and Coyle.

Depends what roster he's using. If it is OSFM V2, then that is good. But any updated roster, Mookie is at least a low-mid A.
