Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
My point was that while he was fixing raj's other mistakes, this one would be nice to fix as well.
From a realistic perspective I think D. Santana is very tradable, especially with Marsinek there now. From a salary perspective, once HOU tv deal gets out of court, I would expect them to act like the nation's 4th largest market and start spending some money. Also read recently JL may be on the hot seat. Perhaps a potential exit may help that spending spree.
Sure I reach a little here but eat some of Rollins contact and I don't see this being too out of the realm.
Kind of a late reply sorry. I see what you are saying now. Santana is tradable but I don't see them doing it yet. He has been doing well in AAA except for his strikeouts and his power has been good.
Also where have you read about JL on the hot seat? I wouldn't mind checking that out lolComment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Started up a Phillies 'chise with realistic salaries and I want to get a youth movement going.
I'd like to open up a spot in the pen for Ken Giles in spring training by trading away Mike Adams and his 1 year/7 million contract.
As you know, the Phillies need depth everywhere. Thoughts on where I can send Adams? I'm thinking something like mid to high C in exchange.
Teams that could use Adams? Every team looking for a veteran SU/CP option and did so early in 2014. I'm thinking the following teams (and a potential return package):
BAL for Michael Ohlman (or Dariel Alvarez + minor piece)
NYY for JR Murphy
CWS for Andre Rienzo + minor piece
DET for Corey Knebel
LAA for RJ Alvarez (preferably) or Luis Jimenez + minor piece
TEX for Nick Tepesch
COL for SP Christian Friedrich
As for your ideas for Mike Adams..
Adams + Rollins to DET for S. Moya + D. Travis
Adams to SF for Gary Brown
Adams to NYY for Greg Bird
Yeah that's what I'm afraid of as well. My plan is to have Utley retire as a Phillie and keep Revere around as a 4th OF type while Dom Brown will have every chance to prove that 2013 was no fluke. Love Papelbon from his Red Sox days so I'm guessing he stays. That leaves Howard, Lee, Rollins, Byrd and Ruiz as the major pieces leaving. I'll probably sit tight on those guys until after the June draft though unless and injury forces my hand.
So I'm sure some of you are aware of my Angels franchise I have going in the Dynasty forums, so I have a question about next season for my Halos.
What do you guys realistically think the market would be for Albert Pujols? With 6 games left to play on the season, he leads the AL in RBIs with 110, is top 5 in home runs with 32, and is top 5 in BA with a .303. With all that, it's clear Albert is playing some great baseball and is showing some flashes of his old Cardinals days.
Now I've seen some people deal Albert away in their franchises, but I could never wrap my head around it. Albert has 8 years and $212M currently left on his contract so I honestly can't see any team making a move for him.
If I could deal him away next season, I'd like to take on an established first baseman to fill the void and then maybe a couple of prospects to boost the farm system, but that's just a robbery for a would be 35 year old man right? The numbers don't lie though.
So tell me, am I stupid for even considering this or do I have a legitimate chance at getting rid of Big Al and only having to deal with Hamilton's contract?Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

I find this game frustrating sometimes. It feels unplayable with the way the offseason works at times. Between the Rule 5 draft taking away teams best prospects and Free Agency being extremely unrealistic, you have to put so much time in just to make things real.

It has been getting on my nerves too so I have stopped playing it for a while and have been playing OOTP 14 lol. Much more realisticComment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
I do use 30 team control which is great for in season. But the offseason is such a pain... it takes forever to control all the free agent signings and making sure that players get signed for realistic values. When Max Scherzer resigns with the Tigers for 10 million a year it's kind of annoying.
The rule 5 draft is even worse... Too many top prospects get picked and moved to other teams.Phillies | A's | Michigan State | Browns | Chelsea FC | BruinsComment

Yeah, just a shame you have to be all the teams or live with it. I want to manage MY team, not every team in baseball."Some people call it butterflies, but to him, it probably feels like pterodactyls in his stomach." --Plesac in MLB18Comment

As far as Free Agency goes, a suggestion I have is make a list of the Top-5 position along with probably the Top-10 SP's available and then look for teams that make sense for each of those players. After that the F.A. Pool will mainly be low C or D potential players and turn the rest of the teams over to the CPU. Or just sim out the rest of the off-season signing period and once spring training starts, you can sign those guy's to teams based off of need filling out their rosters.
At the end of my off-season it seemed like almost every team had 90 players again when I let the CPU handle things and most teams had like 15 RP's in AAA, so to me it's worth the time it takes to just control the signings yourself. I spent almost 2 full days on my off-season before moving on.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Lost buehrle, Hutchinson, morrow already. Sanchez and happ filled in and lost them both to injury. Paul Maholm was in AAA and had okay numbers but nothing spectacular. Sent them Darwin mastroiani and a low C SS. Mastri is a high C which is what the spreadsheet says and I added the low C to solidify it. Is this okay ?Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Okay so I hate to be that guy who is looking to make a deal Mid-May, but I didn't sign really any big bats in the off-season instead just making the real life trades of getting A. Jackson and C. Denorfia for my M's Franchise for the start of my 2015 season.
Denorfia is hitting .161 in 62 AB's and what's worse is he is only hitting .222 vs LHP.
I let Corey Hart walk after hitting 48 HR's and driving in 142 runs because I felt like I couldn't offer him the kind of money he deserved, so right now I have a big hole at DH.
I am currently using L. Morrison in RF (.309 4 HR 12 RBI in 110 AB's) and I have promoted DJ Peterson to 1B (hitting .284 with 3 HR and 6 RBI in 67 AB's)
leaving me J. Smoak (.179 2 HR 4 RBI 67 AB's) and J. Montero (.222 4 HR 11 RBI 72 AB's) as my current platoon at DH.
Because I was ahead of the trade deadline last year, I never did the Lester deal to St Louis for J. Kelly and A. Craig.
St. Louis is currently 24-13 in my Franchise and .5 GB of the Reds and 3 games ahead of the Cubs
However they currently have Holliday (.312 2 HR 15 RBI) platooning with Tavaras (.323 9 HR 29 RBI) in LF, with Craig starting fulltime in RF (.289 6 HR 24 RBI) and have J. Jay in AAA (hitting over .300).
I would like to deal Craig to my M's and make Holliday and Tavaras fulltime bring Jay up to be the #4 OF
However in the off-season, the Cards signed A. Hill to play 2B, so they don't really have a need at the Major league level. Their rotation is Wainwright/Wacha/Lynn/Garcia/Kelly with a struggling S. Miller in the bullpen, their only true weakness. They have only 1 other RHP in their current bullpen (S. Maness 73/C)
My bullpen is currently a strength of mine and would like to package someone with C. Smith (81/B) currently has 11/12 saves in AAA, last year was like 32/35 with a ERA under 0.50.
Do you think someone like OF A. Wilson (70/B) hitting .319 with 5 HR 20 RBI in AAA after hitting over .300 with 25 HR's in AA last season would work with Smith and be enough to get the deal done.
Figure Wilson could finish out the year in AAA and next year challenge Holliday for RF.Last edited by Deuce2223; 08-13-2014, 11:23 PM.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Hey guys. In my Sox 'chise I'm looking to deal John Danks. I'm going for realism, and in my 'chise I had this whole big PED scandal and stuff, and Danks doesn't want to play for blah boah blah, no point in explaining.
Anyways, Danks is having a very good year, with a 6-5 record, and a 3.23 ERA. Current teams in the race that may be in need of a pitcher are:
Angels(Santiago, Richards, Skaggs been terrible... somehow in first place still)
Rockies
Padres
Blue Jays
Rangers
Indians
Also... The Red Sox currently sit 53-39 and second in the division. Unless they unexpectedly fall out(which I may/may not have them do since I want to perform those trades..), it would be highly unlikely they trade Lester/Lackey, right?
Thanks in advance for the help!Comment
