Wouldn't trade any of the future pieces except maybe Almora for Kemp and even then probably no

The Indians actually initiated the trade and I accepted. I'm not playing past the 2014 season anyway so it's all for fun.

This is the trade AI we're talking about here. If anything that kinda makes things worse

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread

Getting close to the trade deadline in my chise, and I'm trying to even out the other teams that are contending, one of which are the Dbacks and Pirates. From what I've seen, they need help at 3B and SS and just SS for PIT(unless I want to move Pedro to 1B and DFA Gaby or something). The Rangers aren't contending this year and I was wondering what it would take to get Elvis or Beltre for each team.

Elvis is actually having a worse year than Didi, but I figure Didi would go to TEX, or no, because of Odor and Profar? Hanson from PIT, or do they value him too highly?

I think Texas would settle for Profar at SS and Odor at 2B if Andrus leaves. No need to include Didi unless they're flipping either him or Profar off in a separate deal. Main focus would be on getting pitching in return from Arizona: Archie Bradley, Randall Delgado, Aaron Blair, Braden Shipley. Maybe include Trumbo in a Beltre deal to add more athleticism to the Snakes LF spot.

For Pittsburgh...either Kingham/Glasnow as a pitcher in return. Maybe add someone like Josh Bell. If possible, my guess is that the Bucs would like to keep Hanson around as he's ready for the show and a cup of coffee in Sep'15.

                  for

Addison Russell (Baez is a long shot I think)

Jorge Soler (Fills out outfield need)

                  CJ Edwards

Cubs get a top-tier pitcher to put them in contention and the Tigers get MLB-ready prospects by the time 2015 rolls around as well as their needs being filled. Thoughts?
This I asked a while back.

Just finished the season, Scherzer won the Cy Young at 21-9, 2.70 ERA and almost 240 Ks. Is the value still the same or is it increased?

Why wouldn't the Cubs just sign him? No reason to give you their best prospects for a free agent.

I'm the type of person to not let my best player leave for nothing.

And theo and Hoyer aren't the type of people to gift people A-list prospects for a rental in a non-compete year.

Its going to be in the offseason. I'm only in the ALCS, just planning ahead.

I was thinking of a sign and trade

That's not legal as per the CBA nor does it make a modicum sense for the Cubs.

Yeah, but this isn't the NBA. In baseball, there aren't sign-and-trades. Either you sign a guy, usually with the intent on keeping him for the duration of the contract (or at least a decent chunk of it) or you just don't sign the player.

If your plan is to outbid everyone in FA for Scherzer and then deal him right away, then there's no element of realism/fairness in that so I'm not sure we can help you.

Ideally, to really get something back for Scherzer, you would've had to trade him during the season, but since you were contending that doesn't make sense, so you kept him. In doing so, you really forfeited the right to get anything for him. At this point, the only logical, non-cheesy options are to re-sign him and keep him (at least 2 years probably of whatever deal you sign him to) or to bow out and let other FA teams compete to sign him. The sign and trade is something you can do, but it's cheese and not realistic gaming practice, lol.

Now if you wanted to trade Verlander or Sanchez instead, who are both under contract still, then you might have something there.

In basketball, sign and trades are prevalent because the CBA and salary cap limit player salary and the team with whom the player played previously can pay him more. There is no such issue.

Also, the player would need to provide consent to any trade prior to June 15.
