Re: MLB 14 The Show Franchise Progress

Just went 18 innings with my Dodgers against the Phillies one of the best games i've ever played in MLB 14. Every time they would score I would score in the exact same inning. 4th inning they drive in a run, I hit a home run with hanely ramiez tied 1-1. Top of the 12th inning they drive another run base hits. Juan Uribe gets a double A.J. Ellis drives him in tied 2-2. During this whole time bases have been loading a couple of times for the Phillies and managed to survive without them scoring runs. Comes to the 18th inning i've already used my Closer last inning and he's already tired Kenley Jansen he manages to survive this inning. Now the bottom of the 18th inning there is one out Dee Gordon is up to bat BAM he hits a single I'm hyped! With one out Dee on base Carl Crawford is up to bat first pitch i'm already stealing with dee gordon and he reaches 2nd base. Next pitch BAM! I'm thinking it gone its a deep fly ball to left field, i'm holding dee at 2nd base just incase i have to tag up. The left field catches the ball but runs into the wall and falls down!!! I sent Dee gordon from 2nd all they way home on a tag up to win the game!!! Oh man i felt like i won a world series after that long 18 innings game. Glad that I came out a victory My dodgers are now 18-3 things are getting great love this game.

Re: MLB 14 The Show Franchise Progress

      I have a quick question:

I did a fantasy draft through about 60 rounds then simmed the rest. However, when I started the season my rosters were all screwed up and many of the guys I wanted on the MLB roster weren't even put on the 40-man by the CPU, so I had to send other vets through waivers to add the other guys to the 40 man.

My question is this: How do I get to adjust my rosters and 40 man manually so that doesnt happen? Do I have to manually draft the entire 90 rounds?

I've seen this answered on OS before, but for the life of me I can't find the answer no matter how many key words I search for.

Thanks in advance if you answer this!

Re: MLB 14 The Show Franchise Progress

Okay. You guys might remember I had a Cubs franchise before. It seems like every year I always have a "feeler" franchise before really taking it seriously, and that was the one.

So I started a new one. Still the Cubs, but I basically decided to use 2014 as a "waste" season and begin the total rebuild in 2015. I placed 85% of my focus on AA and AAA in 2014.

The Major League club wasn't all a waste. There were some exciting victories, and excellent performances from guys like Travis Wood, who earned a four-year contract.

And I can't forget an impressive 40 home run season for Anthony Rizzo, in which he surprised everyone with an MVP award.

But with that said, the Cubs finished 77-85, better than recent years but still far below what fans would hope for. Instead, fans took pride in the farm teams. The AA Tennessee Smokies were excellent, led by Kris Bryant, Jorge Soler, and Corey Black, all of whom were All Stars and will now spend time in Iowa for 2015.

They led the Smokies to the second round of the postseason, only to be eliminated.

As for Iowa, the Cubs struggled early, beginning the season 7-15. But they stormed right back in it and found themselves in the AAA playoffs, only to be eliminated in the first round.

Some big changes were made to the big league squad for 2015. The entire coaching staff turned over, a key starter was added, and room was made for prospects to come up and make their mark in The Show. Here is the roster for your 2015 Cubs:

        Coaching Staff

        Manager: Joe Girardi
        1st Base Coach: Ron Gardenhire
        3rd Base Coach: Ed Cedar
        Hitting Coach: Ryne Sandberg
        Pitching Coach: Mike Maddux

        Roster

        Catcher: Welington Castillo
        First Base: Anthony Rizzo
        Second Base: Darwin Barney
        Third Base: Josh Vitters
        Shortstop: Starlin Castro
        Left Field: Justin Ruggiano
        Center Field: Emilio Bonifacio
        Right Field: Nate Schierholz

        Catcher: Rafael Lopez
        Infield: Brian Roberts
        Infield: Luis Valbuena
        Outfield: Brett Jackson
        Outfield: Chris Coghlan

        Starting Rotation

        James Shields
        Jeff Samardzija
        Travis Wood
        Jason Hammel
        Jake Arrieta

        Bullpen

        LR: Kyle Hendricks
        MR: Jason Frasor
        MR: Blake Parker
        MR: James Russell
        SU: Wesley Wright
        SU: Hector Rondon
        CP: Koji Uehara

I am playing for 2016 and beyond with this team. Hopefully I can get Baez up mid-season and Bryant up by the end of it. And who knows? Maybe these guys will contend anyway. What I do know is, a lot of attention will be placed on the Iowa Cubs in 2015. I want to make sure a lot of guys are ready for '16, like Bryant, Baez, Alcantara, maybe even Soler. We shall see!

I will probably also make some posts from my Angels franchise when that gets near playoff time (fun back-and-forth race for the West with Oakland). This is my main project.

        Go Cubs Go!

Oh really. I am using the timing hitting interface. I start off at All-star on hitting and drop to veteran. I did some slider adjustments.

I did get a hit with Uggla in the Game 3 of the series against the Phillies which I won 3-2. I am leading the the 4 game series 2-1. Teheran vs. Lee should be a good one...

Re: MLB 14 The Show Franchise Progress

I'm also using Timing. I had to put contact up to 7 and the rest are default. It's given me the best results as I hit far more balls with better contact. I still have games where I get dominated and can't hit anything solid. I just now finally have games where I get 8+ runs and put up big offensive numbers.

I started with HOF pitching and AS hitting and after using DD I ended up right back where I started off. For pitching I put the CPU hitting sliders all down 1 click to make it more fair. I'm still like 22-25th in ERA and I get rocked at times. BUT I get those games where my pitcher is on point and I can shut them down too.

I'm completely satisfied with my sliders right now.

Sitting @ 84-62 in year 1 with my Rays. Have a 1 game lead over the Red Sox right now for the AL East crown. Even if we fall behind, the AL East has such a huge lead for the WC spots, that unless I completely fall apart, we'll be in the WC playoff at least.

Wil Myers is leading the team in HRs with 26 on the year. Matt Moore, Alex Cobb and David Price are killing it right now. All three should/will finish with 15 wins and Hellickson may do so as well. Archer had a rough start to the season (0-5), but, has rebounded to get to 12-10.

Re: MLB 14 The Show Franchise Progress

The 2015 Cubs have made it through the Memorial Day threshold, and the season has been going quite well thus far.

Opening Day featured a 7-1 romp over the Pirates at Wrigley, which included five Cubs home runs, and a 14 strikeout complete game from newest #1 starter James Shields. This gave Joe Girardi and the new Cubs coaching staff their first victory together

In the minors, Iowa has been underwhelming, currently at 28-24 on the regular season. Jorge Soler has failed to get going. However, Javier Baez and Kris Bryant have been tearing the cover off the ball.

The MLB squad is 29-27 to begin June, a positive start staying consistently at .500, but still only a half game out of first in a weak NL Central. The team has been led by the masterful pitching of Jeff Samardzija (5-2, 2.29).

On May 22, the Cubs officially called up Javier Baez, and he wasted no time getting acclimated. In his first career MLB at-bat, Baez launched a home run to right field. He is currently playing third base, and as of June 3 he's hitting .288 with one home run and seven RBI. He is now hitting third, ahead of Rizzo.

I have also called up Arismendy Alcantara, who was hitting .310 in Iowa, to split time with Darwin Barney at second base, who has only been hitting .185 in every day duty.

The draft is forthcoming. In 2014, I drafted a lanky 18 year old right hander named Jose Rosales who looks to be the second coming of Kerry Wood, so I'm trying to develop him for 2017. Due to my 77-85 record, I'll probably be pick #10, and I'm looking at more pitchers and catchers. I currently have Schwarber in AA along with Jake Stinnett.

This game is too fun. Can't wait to see what happens for the rest of this season, and going into 2016 (hoping I can land David Price or something).

                  Game 2: Lee vs. Scherzer

The Yankees need this game badly...can't afford to go to Detroit down 0-2. After a disappointing start in Game 1 from Tanaka, Lee ill need to step it up and provide a start similar to what Andy Pettitte gave the Yanks in many games for them in the past. The Tigers have already taken one in the Bronx so there's no pressure on them to win this game, but a 2-0 lead would sure put them in the driver seat. Which of these to teams will win this already pivotal game 2?

Opened the 2nd half of the season with a 2-1 victory over the Dodgers. Player of the game was Johnny Peralta who hit two solo homers which was all the runs we needed.

Now time to start considering what moves, if any, I need to make in order to make a deep run in the playoffs.

                        ALDS Gm 1

                        NYY @ Texas
                        Tanaka vs Darvish

                        NYY-9 1-Tex(NYY1-0)
                        W-Tanaka(1-0)
                        L-Darvish(0-1)

This had potential to be a great pitching matchup but only 1 starter got the memo. The Yanks jumped all over Darvish, chasing him after just 3+ innings. The big blow was a 3R HR by Beltran in the 2nd. Tanaka's line was 7IP, 7H, 1ER, 0BB, 7K's

                        Gm2
                        Sabathia vs Scheppers

                        NYY-7 3-Tex(NYY2-0)

                        W-Robertson(1-0)
                        L-Soria(0-1)
After a 1st inning homer by Prince, The Yanks added a run in the 3,4,&5th inning to jump out to a 3-1 lead. Andrus would add an RBI single in the 6th to draw it to 3-2. Kelly and Thornton would pitch a perfect 8th, setting the stage for David Robertson. After a ground out and a K, Prince came to the dish. Down 0-2, he was royalty once again, smashing his second homer and tying the game.
The euphoria was short lived as Brendan Ryan started the 10th with a single. Gardner was trying to sacrifice, but the bunt was so good, he beat it out. Ellsbury would follow with another perfect bunt, loading the bases. In steps Ichiro, who came on for Beltran as a defensive sub. He hammers a liner down the 1st base line, unloading the bases and winding up with a triple. McCann would add a sac fly, and Betances would pitch a perfect bottom 10th.

                        Gm3
                        Perez vs Kuroda

                        Tex-2 3-NYY(NYY wins 3-0)

                        W-Kelley(1-0)
                        L-Frasor(0-1)
                        S-Robertson(1)

New York got off strong scoring 2 in the bottom of 1st. Beltran singled in Ellsbury and McCann knocked in Beltran with a 2 out double. Texas would get 1 back in the top of the 2nd, on a Leonys Martin double that scored Rios. In the top of the 7th, Rios would hit a solo shot to right tying the game at 2. In the bottom of the 8th, Beltran led off with a solo shot off Frasor giving the Yanks a 3-2 lead. Robertson would make up for his game 2 blown save by pitching a perfect 9th, sending NY to the ALCS.

Around the rest of the Playoffs

                        ALDS:Cleveland vs Baltimore

Cleveland got an important split in Baltimore, winning Gm 1, 3-0 and losing game 2, 4-3. They wouldn't need to return as the blew out the O's 10-1 in game 3, followed by a 6-3 series clincher.

                        NLDS
                        Atlanta swept the Padres, 9-0, 8-6, 4-2

Los Angeles followed Cleveland's blueprint, splitting the first 2 in St Louis and finished them off at home.

I won the first round of the year against the Phillies. Taking 3 out of 4 games from them. Game 3 I won with pitching. I got 3 runs early and Beachy pitched great 6.2IP 6H ER 2BB 6K. All three of my runs came courtesy of BJ Upton 2 for 3 HR 3RBI...

Game 4 with some slider adjustments to my contact and timing... My lineup chased Cliff Lee early from the game 5.1IP, 4ER 1k. Teheran hung in there 8IP 2ER 2BB 3K earning him the victory. Chris Johnson was the hitting star 2 for 4, 2HR,3RBI also J-Up & Pastornicky homered as well. Giving us a 8-3 victory..

I am taking my 5-11 record into New York against the 3-12 Mets. Game 1; Medlen vs. Harvey, game 2: Minor vs. Colon and Game 3: Erv Santana vs. Wheeler. By the ways the Nats have a 16 game winning streak. 16-0 they just beat the Cards 3-0. 11 games back, but its early.

                              George Springer: 3-run BOMB

Domination here we come we knocking Smyly out early in this one!!!!!!!!!

It's all good Domingo Santana is coming up who also rocks LHP

                              Domingo Santana: Strikeout

Ok ok we got the phenom SS Carlos Correa coming up to get a clutch hit, Smyly is getting KO'd!

                              Carlos Correa: Flyout to center

                              FML

I lose 8-3 and Smyly dominated me after that start. Miggy hit a 3-run HR (#21 leads MLB) and I fall to 20-27.

I'm still waiting on these Pitch Edit rosters to start my franchise, but I've definitely decided to start with the Rockies.

It's going to be interesting learning an entirely new group of players.
