I like it the way it is, too. Of course when I actually start playing seriously it won't matter because I'll have the slider zeroed and the difficulty won't move period.

But it could if you are up by 3 lol. So what are you at for hitting and pitching and how many games have you played?

AllStar+ Pitching, HOF Batting. I've promoted as high as HOF Pitching (ugh) and HOF+ Batting (slightly less ugh) before getting demoted in each.

I'd estimate probably about 30 games of Dynamic Difficulty settings, I've played several more than that though in normal difficulties. At this point with that sample size I'm pretty confident that those settings are right for me.

I play pretty fast when I'm just testing out stuff. When it's time for me to actually enjoy a franchise or something I let all the scenes play and games last 1 1/2 - 2 hours.

And yeah, I know the "up by 3" promote could happen - it did for me last year and was the main reason I stopped using DD. I had some good games ruined by the difficulty spike and the CPU just destroying me as soon as it happened. That's why we were all clamoring for a way to completely stop the dynamic difficulty progression, and now we have it a year later.

You got up to HOF you are pretty good then. Yeah games tend to take me 1.5 to 2 hours more close to 2 hours on average though. Yeah being able to stop it is nice. Right now to try to get to a good difficulty I am trying to face number 1 pitchers then 2 then 3 ect and doing the same thing with my rotation.

          Remember my advice from earlier.

If your objective right now is to literally get up another level for both hitting and pitching, do this:

Select an All-Star team in exhibition and play against a AA team.

Turn the DD slider to 10.

This game, you will pitch only so zero out the CPU hitting sliders and max out your pitching sliders.

Once you finish your first inning, fast forward a half inning so you are pitching again.

Remember, the score only needs to have a 3 run spread. So when you sim your hitting, your All-Star team should easily score a ton of runs. YOU DON'T NEED TO BE THE ONE SCORING THE RUNS TO PROMOTE/DEMOTE.

Keep pitching only and fast forwarding hitting. By the end of the game, you should have advanced a level.

Next game, do the exact same, except reverse it. Now you are only going to hit.

You'll get to where you want this way in no time. Once you do, put all the sliders back and have fun!

            Re: Dynamic Difficulty?

Ok so I have a question. This may have been answered, but I am on a break at work and don't have time to look through everything. I play on AllStar difficulty for hitting and pitching. In the sliders, there is a dynamic difficulty sensitivity slider, it says decrease all the way to be locked in one difficulty. If I leave the slider at default, and play on AllStar difficulty, instead of Dynamic Difficulty, does this slider still make a difference. I have had some really good games so far on pitching, and hitting. I am curious if it is me just having good games, or if the difficulty is lowering even though don't want it to.

Unless there's a bug I haven't seen, the DD slider should not have any effect if you're not using DD as your difficulty level.

              It's placebo, man.

                  Re: Dynamic Difficulty?

This inning of pitching is a great example of why I love DD:

                  <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/mzrNpBcDf-8?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

                  Couple of points:

Auto Fielding. It's on because I don't want my fielding (good or bad) to interfere with OPS. After this game I'm probably turing it back on though, because I think I'm set.

Believe me, I'm not trying to throw those walks, but on AS+ the concern is that the CPU will hit anything I leave hanging. So I pitch more cautiously, often outside of the API (but the same pitch it's calling for) and aim for corners. As you can see it works both ways - sometimes I'll walk people, sometimes I'll get a corner strike and sometimes they'll swing through it.

I didn't mind the double steal attempt. This game was a pitchers duel all throughout and it seemed like it was just trying to get something going. EDIT: Actually it was a blown hit and run, which was mostly foiled by the pitch being unhittable.

This to me is the DD endgame - the point at which your skills and the ratings collide and end up in very realistic and enjoyable games. All the games spent working my level up as high as it will go are worth it when I have games like this.

Here's the walk and K totals, which was pretty much the last thing I've been trying to smooth out:

Also, the slider doesn't actually change your difficulty level. It only changes how "sensitive" your difficulty level is (on dynamic difficulty). Leave the slider at default, and you have to dominate for 2 full games before it upgrades you to Legend mode.

Reduce the slider to 0, and you have to dominate for 6 straight games to get that same promotion. And raise the slider to 10, and you get boosted to Legend after just a few innings.

I just made all those numbers up but you should get what I am saying.

The concept is right, but there's one special thing about the slider being zeroed - it turns off progression completely so even if you do nothing but one hit after another you won't ever see progress (let alone a difficulty change) either way. Slider at 1 is a better example of what you're trying to say.

I agree with alot of your guys post in this thread, Dynamic difficulty last year when I first heard about it first thought was "oh hear we go with a gimmick" to say we added something for the sake of adding something (looking at you Madden), but it was a really good feature last year especially for it being its introductory year. Then this year they just made it that much better. Being able to adjust the slider to plus up or down faster to get where you think you should be is great, and then to lock it there is even better. Its crazy because right now after a handful of games i am hitting on Rookie ++ and pitching on All star ++ and having some classic pitching duels and nail biting games, try those settings prior to DD or on any other sports game and its a ridiculously lopsided outcome with little to no challange, hats off to SCEA for changing the way difficulty levels should be for all games and doing it so well.

                              Re: Dynamic Difficulty?

My only issue is that on my profile I used Dynamic Difficulty on my RTTS CF guy and got it to a point that kept the hitting fun but not too easy and I locked the slider.

I then went to Season mode and played some games and noticed my Difficulty was adjusting again. No big deal, I simply 0 out the slider again.

My problem is that now my pitching is at Rookie + and won't progress because I put the slider all the way down. I guess I could turn the slider on and off depending on whether I was pitching or hitting but that seems like a pain. I could also force myself to play my RTTS pitcher to find the sweet spot as he is a closer and would never bat.

But I am thinking I will just use a preset difficulty for it.

I've said this quite a few times in the thread but here we go again...

If you want to increase only your pitching difficulty, you can do that. Go into exhibition, max out the slider, zero out the CPU hitting sliders, max out your pitching sliders, and just pitch.

When it's time for you to hit, select Fast Forward half an inning.

Keep doing this until your pitching levels up. Keep in mind your hitting team will need to be up by 3 runs to promote. Whether or not you're the one actually scoring the runs is irrelevant. Simming them in is fine.

You can only promote/demote one time per game. So when you get from Rookie+ to Veteran, sim to the end of the game and start another one if you want to promote further.
