    (not downplaying the overall point)
I don't disagree, but then we keep hearing things from the developers or whatever saying that this isn't like that time. Whether it's marketing hype or whatever they mean semantically is one thing, but I wasn't content on buying an MLB game for PS3 until The Show '09. I didn't get a PS3 until summer 2008, and I might hold off on the PS4 for the same amount of time. I'm just not ready for next-gen while they're getting the kinks worked out from their first couple of games, and honestly I don't think this game was ready either. I'm sure it's a fine game and all, but it's really not indicative of their bright future on the new console IMO.

Of course, there are some design decisions that would need to change as well for it to really be what it should be, if I'm going to be perfectly honest. There are some things since MLB '09 that I have been hoping to change that simply haven't yet, and I'm not sure how much it has to do with hardware limitations. Maybe someday...

The frame rate appears to drop when the camera is facing toward the crowd.

I just laugh at people saying to check your tv settings or stating they have 240hz tv or plasma.

That has ZERO to do with the issue that is in the game. The cutscenes are brutal due to choppiness of it. It is below 30fps and that is pretty much a lock to be true. if it was 30fps it would not be choppy. it is more like 24fps

Nobody is saying during gameplay but cutscenese are suppose to be something that enhances presentation but it just ruins it.

Also the hitch when you take a pitch but press down on the analog to start your swing but not swing. That hic up is in the ps3 version and is a joke it is on the ps4 version.

An extra month to fix it and it gets released with that and the horrible frame rate issue in cutscenes?

Come on now...Game is great but if there are real issues it needs to be said and not brush under the rug because we think the Show cant do wrong

Have to agree the game wasnt ready.

The frame rate, lighting and other things just arent right. I have a tonne of screenshots that im going to post that show horrible textures, bits of stadiums that definitely dont look "rebuilt".

The game is still a blast to play though and im having a lot of fun with it.

Someone posted a great post with pictures showing how much the game improves on its second release on a new console. Does anyone have a link to it? I'm not having any luck searching for it.

              MLB 07 on the PS2

MLB 07 on the PS3 (there is a difference, but it's not a big step up)

MLB 08 on the PS3 (wabam! next gen!)

              MLB 14 on the PS3

              MLB 15 on the PS4

So you see, things are looking up.

Thanks! I knew I should have saved a link to it.

Anyway, I think it's a great example of how the first year really isn't everything for a new console. While it was focusing on visuals, I see no reason why it couldn't also be true for frame rate.

Nobody is going to debate that the first real ps4 version wont be till next year but the issues that are on the ps3 version were not there the previous year and it should not have been released on ps4 with those two issues.

No. Not just you. Gameplay framerate is terrible too. Sometimes and specially with balls throw to first.

Game is far from ready and a very poor annoying release in my opinion. Regarding framerate.

I do play on Fast Play but i'd prefer not to. The thing is most of us want to watch the cutscenes smh. The presentation is a huge part of the game. When playing on fast play it completely eliminates lots of cool stuff even the homerun celebrations. I personally would like to experience all the game has to offer (gameplay & presentation) but the frame rate is so bad at times that it kills the immersion for me. Hopefully this is something that can be patched because otherwise the game is great.

Do other games on PS4 using similar resources have frame rate issues? If so, I guess I am seriously concerned about my purchase of the PS4. Or is it just the game?

                            Thanks.

I have only played a few PS4 games but NBA 2k14 is silky smooth so is FIFA 14. So smooth game play is certainly possible.

Also I realized there is a FPS drop when pitching at night from broadcast view. I remember seeing this issue with the last game. During the day though pitching from broadcast view is very smooth.

You have to understand they went up and beyond with the level of detail. Zoom in on the grass and you'll see. This all uses processing power. While I don't notice any hitches while playing, there are definitely transition issues on the replays.. Specifically a double play, when the camera switches, it freezes.

This game makes my ps4 sound like a vacuum if I play for over 20 minutes. So yeah, the game is using a lot of processing power.. It even causes my home screen to lag when backing out.
