I've played really good the last 5 or so games I've played. I'll be so mad if I lose the ALDS.

      Simming Yankees 'chise:

year one: 88 wins, lost to Mariners in 5 in ALDS
year two: 81-81, was in the hunt for the WC spots to the final few games. Rays won 95 games. Red Sox got the WC spot as did the Indians.

After year two, Beltran, Sabathia and Tex retired. A-Rod is still playing, though he's down to 60 overall.

Luis Severino is on the MLB roster, as is Bryan Mitchell. A drafted player, Doug Lawrence, looks to take over the first base spot (75 overall, B potential) he hit .270 and 11 homers this season, his rookie year.

Rob Refsynder is on the MLB team, this past year he hit .231 with 3 homers. (starting 2B, Jose Pirela is his backup.)

At 3B, Chase Headley hit 2.75 and 16 homers.

Gregorious is doing very welll; .272 and 22 homers in 2015, .239 and 12 homers in 2016.

Re: MLB 15 Franchise Progress Thread

I've already knocked out 66 games and I'm 33-33 (Pirates). After my 2014 82-80 campaign I really need to get things rolling in the last 98 games. Really want to win 90+ games this year so I need to dominate.

        A few notes:

Charlie Morton was struggling so I brought up the highly coveted Jameson Taillon to take his spot. Taillon got hit harder than anybody I've ever seen in my life. After 5 starts and a batting average against of .408 and and ERA of 11+ he is back in AAA. Brandon Cumpton, who has been awesome in long relief, took the #4 spot in the rotation and I called up Nick Kingham (another prospect). Kingham will start in the bullpen.

Pedro & McCutchen are monsters. Pedro has 12/13 HR and 62 RBI's in the first 66 games. McCutchen leads the league in 2B's & 3B's and has 50+ RBI as well.

My offense is #1 in the NL and I'm #2 overall. Team BA is .273 and I have 4 guys who are 300+. This is after a 2014 campaign where nobody hit over .290!

Moved Tony Watson to the closer role after Melancon struggled out of the gates and it's been a great move. Watson has only allowed 1 ER in 18 appearances and that sub-1.00 ERA is a friendly site.

Amateur draft has been completed: I'll post the results in the near future.

I'm 3rd in the NL Central as the Cards/Reds are both 8-9 games ahead of me. The Cubs are falling and the Brewers are in need of a blow up/rebuild.

To the Yankees fans: they are the worst team in the MLB by like 5 games! Last check they were 19-45. I'll be looking into their franchise situation at the ASB when all of my moves will go down (30-team control)

Before you call someone a ship jumper, you should know how long and for what reason they choose to follow each team. Im from New England so I was born to be Red Sox, Bruins, Celtics, and Pats fan. I kept with the Red Sox and Bruins because they are teams that have huge fan bases and I wanted to continue to be a part of it. I was both a Celtics and Pats fan originally, however I changed my ways some years ago. I loved the pick of Russell Wilson by the Seahawks and thought it was a time for a change. I was sick of having to follow the Pats "cult" so I switched to the Seahawks when they drafted Wilson. Same thing goes for the Warriors. I was a huge fan of Stephen Curry since his Davidson days and I said to myself "whichever team drafts him is going to be the new team I follow". That is exactly what happened. Is it funny that all the teams I follow are now title contenders in their respective sports, of course it is. We all have our own teams that we follow and that is what I do. To call someone a ship jump is childish

Re: MLB 15 Franchise Progress Thread

I'm 3 and 2 in my last five games. Took 2 out of 3 from the Jays in an interesting series. The Jays won the first game behind the of Michael Saunders, 4-1. I took the second game after knocking around Aaron Sanchez for 6 runs in a 7-3 win. In the rubber match, I won 11-10 in 12 innings in what turned out to be a really competitive game. I had Garrett Jones, Tyler Colvin, Gregerio Petit, Chris Young, and John Ryan Murphy to start the game, but the regulars came in and saved the day after CC pitched yet another clunker. It seemed like I couldn't get Saunders out in this series he finished with 2 home runs in the finale.

In my series against the O's, I've traded blowouts with Baltimore, I lost 12-2 in game 1 of the series and won 13-5 in game two of the series. I'm now at 21-9, 3.5 games ahead of the O's. Eovaldi and CC have been almost unreliable at times, inconsistent at best. I'm looking at the trade market for pitching, and all the makes sense right now is trying to make a run at Iwakuma of the M's.

Does anyone have any idea what kind of prospects I could give up in return for him? Preferably without giving up Refsnyder/Judge/Severino.

I've been thinking about doing a franchise similar to yours, though I'm wondering how time consuming it is. How long and what did you have to do to get started? Also, how long does it take to update your blog? I tend to go series by series with my dynasty forum in the baseball dynasties.

It's honestly as consuming as you want it to be. I know that doesn't really help you--but what I do (and I am BRAND NEW to this too) is pick 1 game per week and make it the 'game of the week', and write a short story about the game. I'll update league leaders and standings about once every 2 weeks. Any more than that is just too time consuming.

I do update the pitching matchups & previous game box score (top right widgets on my page) each day, but that takes 5 minutes--not bad at all.

Re: MLB 15 Franchise Progress Thread

On to the second of the three teams I'll be using - the Miami Marlins.

                      2015 Preview
                      Spoiler

                      MLB Team
The team is quite young in the outfield and up the middle at 2B/SS. The front office is doing their best to lock up their young talent for the long haul, already signing Stanton and Yelich to extensions. Players like Saltalamacchia and Morse are pretty much just keeping their respective spots warm for replacements from the farm system or another team. There's certainly potential with the speedy Gordon leading off and the powerful Stanton anchoring the lineup, surrounded by the solid bats of Yelich and Ozuna. The bench is a very interesting blend of players, hard to predict exactly what they'll bring to the table. At the very least, the offense should be average in 2015.

The most noticeable thing about the rotation is the name that's missing. Jose Fernandez will begin the season on the DL as he recovers from Tommy John with all signs pointing to a return shortly before the All-Star break. During his absence, Mat Latos and Henderson Alvarez will do their best to lead a group that has their fair share of question marks. Cosart pitched very well for the Marlins after being acquired from the Astros last season. If he can keep that up in 2015 the Marlins will have a very nice #3. Tom Koehler will look to build on a solid 2014 as well and Brad Hand is pretty much just there as a token lefty in a RH dominant rotation until Fernandez returns. The bullpen could well turn out to be a strength, at least as long as Ramos and Cishek can repeat their success. Phelps pitched well in Spring Training and can step into the rotation at a moment's notice. The rest should be well qualified to bridge the gap between the 5th and 8th innings.

                      Farm System
Due to their recent trades, the current state of the Marlins' farm system is quite close to barren. Tyler Kolek is the only truly high-profile prospect in the system and he's quite raw at the moment. If everything pans out well he could be a top of the rotation starter, but he needs quite a bit of polish before that becomes a reality. Realmuto could conceivably take over at C sometime in 2015 if he shows he can hit AAA pitching, while Nicolino could see time in the rotation this year if there are any injuries. Conley will need to produce well this season to regain some of his lost prospect shine. Romero and Twine offer an intriguing glimpse at a possible middle-of-the-diamond duo, but neither will be rushed.

                      Transactions
The beginning of Spring Training did not mark the end of the Marlins' wheeling and dealing. When Dan Haren was acquired this past offseason, there were a number of rumors that he would retire before playing for a team not in southern California. While he did not in fact retire, the Marlins were able to move him back to his preferred stomping grounds. Miami packaged Haren with utility man Jeff Baker and reliever Vin Mazzaro and sent them all to San Diego for Yangervis Solarte.

At the end of Spring Training the Marlins pulled off yet another trade. This time it was for Jesus Montero who had had another disappointing spring for the Mariners and had officially worn out his welcome. Seattle was in need of a backup catcher so Miami sent them C Jeff Mathis, 1B prospect Ryan Rieger, and OF Don Kelly.

Besides the trades, the Marlins also picked up a pair of guys struggling to find a spot on a team. Catcher J.P. Arencibia went from being signed off the scrap heap at the beginning of Spring Training to actually breaking camp with the team, thanks in part to the trade of Jeff Mathis. IF Juan Francisco was also signed to a minor league deal, he'll play 3B and split time at 1B with Jesus Montero in AAA. Look for him to be called up if the Marlins need a lefty bat at any point in the season, he could be an intriguing platoon option.

                      Expectations
While everyone of course expects the Nationals to run away with the NL East crown, there's much less consensus on who else from the division will be competitive. The Braves have seemingly embraced a full rebuild and probably the Phillies will as well, but the Mets and Marlins both have the potential to surprise some people. While Miami doesn't have a lot of room for error, they could sneak into a Wildcard spot if everything breaks right for them this year. Ownership seemingly is committed to spending enough to win and keep together their young core, so most fans will probably be content if the team improves by a few games over their 2014 record and breaks .500.

Re: MLB 15 Franchise Progress Thread

19-15 so far into the 2016 season with the Boston Red Sox. After winning the World Series, this is not the start I was expecting to have. We made a big trade to gain a big name player, but it hasn't paid off yet. This is the trade:

The Red Sox sent 31 year old 1B Allen Craig, 20 year old 3B Michael Chavis, and 22 year old SS Oscar Amaya to the Astros for 29 year old 1B Chris Carter.

We essentially lost two low rated prospects and a Bench player for a starting 1B. After losing David Ortiz to retirement, I'll take this trade 10 out of 10 times.

The draft is coming up and I don't see 5 tool players this year. A player that I am eyeing is 1B Troy Wallace. He is 19 years old and is 71 overall already. His potential is 81, so I think he ail be available by the time we draft (which is going to be late in the first round because we won the world series). He has decent power, so I feel he could be a good DH that could contribute right away. Another player I am hoping ail be available by the time we pick is RF Sammy Zapata. He is 20 years old, 61 overall, with a 95 potential. He has decent contact right off the bat, so I'm hoping hell be able to develop a few years and the contribute to our team.

I am going to simulate and play some games until the draft and will update you with how our team is doing after. Until then, these are the league leaders in AVG, Hits, HRs, RBIs, SBs, Wins, Saves, ERA, and SOs for each league:

                          AL
                          AVG: Robinson Cano - .355
                          Hits: Michael Brantley - 44
                          HRs: Chris Davis - 11
RBIs: Allen Craig - 32 (Maybe we shouldn't have traded him…)
                          SBs: Jose Altuve - 12
                          Wins: Hector Santiago - 6
                          Saves: Jake McGee - 13
                          ERA: Felix Hernandez - 2.09
                          SOs: Yu Darvish - 58

                          NL
                          AVG: Giancarlo Stanton - .389
                          Hits: Dee Gordon - 46
                          HRs: Bryce Harper - 10
                          RBIs: Marcell Ozuna - 27
                          SBs: Dee Gordon - 17
                          Wins: Matt Cain - 6
                          Saves: Trevor Rosenthal - 14
                          ERA: Alex Wood - 1.22
                          SOs: Stephen Strasburg - 69

Re: MLB 15 Franchise Progress Thread

I'm starting a franchise with the Houston Astros using OSFM Opening Day Rosters and A&S's sliders. I plan on playing every game in the regular/post season.

Blooming star pitcher Collin McHugh got hurt late in Spring Training. He's on the 15-day DL for the first 11 days of the season with a strained pectoral.

Without McHugh, the rotation is Dallas Keuchel, Scott Feldman, AAA callup Dab Straily, Roberto Hernandez and Samuel Deduno from the bullpen. Rookie Asher Wojciechski is the 6th starter/long reliever. I like the idea of using a six man rotation.

Elsewhere in the division, the Angels will be without Kole Calhoun for 43 days (broken hand,) and the Rangers' injury curse continues as Ryan Rua will miss 182 days with a torn rotator cuff.

We open the year at home with a series against the Indians.
