      June Schedule/Results
      Spoiler

Strong start to the month helped us a lot. We won the first 7 games and 9 of the first 10. 17-10 all together and increased our AL Central lead up to 8.5 games over Detroit.

Pitching continues to lead the team. Came into the month with a 3.21 ERA. Ended it with a 2.88. 2nd in the league behind Washington at 2.76. And tied with Toronto for the most shutouts with 12. Jason Vargas has his ERA down to 2.35. He has just 16 walks in 15 games. Ventura is 6-5 with a 2.53 ERA. After sending Frasor to AAA and calling up Louis Coleman. He is 1-0 and hasnt given up a run in 9.2 IP. Our "worst" reliever is Kelvin Herrera with a 2.63 ERA. Greg Holland is up to 24 saves on the year.

Made a few lineup changes to try and get some guys going. Cant say for sure that its worked but havent really been any worse. Alcides Escobar leads the team with a .280 AVG. Hosmer is the best all around hitter. .276 AVG with 7 HR and 46 RBI. Kendrys Morales leads the team with 11 HR.

Moved Kyle Zimmer up to AAA after his last start of June. He has a 2.78 ERA. Yohan Pino has a 1.74 ERA. Again the starters in the Majors are doing so well no need to call him up. Moises Sierra, Francisco Pena and Brett Eibner are all hitting over .296.

Kris Medlen was moved to AA for some rehab starts as he comes back form TJ surgery. Started off rough but his last 2 starts he has 2 CG. 1 ER and 19 K's. Sean Manea finally got his first win. Now 1-8 with a 3.14 ERA. Glenn Sparkman has a 2.53 ERA in 13 games. And just like all year. No one is hitting worth a damn in AA.

Draft went all right. I drafted the first 3 and let CPU handle the rest. SP Pedro Cortez is the most MLB ready. The ETA for him is a bit low to me. Could easily be a September call up in 2016 and depending how things go could see quite a bit of games in 2017. Fernando Gomez has the highest ceiling. Whether he can reach that or not is the question. Easily a major league ready hitter. But his defense is extremely questionable. DH option in a few years possibly.

Re: MLB 15 Franchise Progress Thread

Started my Red Sox Franchise the other day. Things aren't going as well as I'd hope them to, but I can't complain. Simulated all of Spring Training and the season was underway.

Before a game was even played a blockbuster trade went down. The Red Sox sent 34 yr old Shane Victorino, 22 yr old Keury De La Cruz, and 23 yr old Carlos Asauje to the Braves for 31 year old Nick Markakis and 19 year old Braxton Davidson.

I simulated and play some games until we were 20 games into the season. I plan on playing every 6 games so that I use a new starter each time. Before our 18th game the Red Sox were part of another blockbuster trade. The Red Sox sent 34 yr old Ryan Hanigan, 35 yr old Humberto Quintero, and 24 yr old Christian Vazquez to the Mariners for 24 yr old Mike Zunino and 22 yr old Tyler Marlette. With Zunino being only 24 years old, I thought he could hold down our C position until Swihart is ready to make the jump to the MLB. After the trades and everything, our rotation and lineup looks like this (with there stats next to them):

        SP: Clay Buchholz (2-1 20SO 3.67ERA)
        SP: Rick Porcello (4-0 21SO 1.67ERA)
        SP: Wade Miley (2-0 23SO 1.73ERA)
        SP: Justin Masterson (1-2 27SO 7.15ERA)
        SP: Joe Kelly (2-2 16SO 5.48ERA)

        C: Mike Zunino
1B: David Ortiz & Mike Napoli (Ortiz at DH)
        2B: Dustin Pedroia
        3B: Pablo Sandoval
        SS: Xander Bogaerts
        LF: Hanley Ramirez
        CF: Mookie Betts
        RF: Nick Markakis

Here is our top 3 position players at each stat
        AVG - Napoli .358, Bogaerts .290, and Ortiz .288
HR - Napoli 6, Pedroia, Ortiz, and Zunino all with 4
H - Ortiz 21, Bogaerts 20, and Napoli and Markakis tied with 19
        RBI - Pedroia 15, Ortiz 14, and Napoli 12

We are 14-6 with a lot to look forward to. I have considered trading Pedroia towards the trade deadline and call Moncada up. What do you guys think?

Re: MLB 15 Franchise Progress Thread

Didn't have much work to do so I played about 2 games and then thought I'd simulate ahead a fair amount. We've played 65 games and we now sit at a 39-26 record. The draft happened and we had the 6th pick. We took advantage of this position and drafted Juan Dias who plays 1B. He is 20 years old, already 72 overall, and has a potential of 90. He has above average contact and power and an incredible 67 speed for someone playing 1B. He only has 18 fielding, so he'd most likely start out at DH. I thought he would be a great player to add seeing as David Ortiz is most likely done after this season. The only other relevant player we drafted was in the 4th round. We picked up 22 year old Andy Batalucco who plays LF. He is 70 overall with some good contact and solid speed. He's potential is only 73, but I thought he could be a solid minor league player and even role player.

Anyway, nothing too exciting happened since the draft, EXCEPT TWO HUGE TRADES WITH THE TWINS!!!! Ill get into those at the end. Here is how our rotation is doing so far:

          Buchholz: 4-5 71SO 3.21ERA
          Porcello: 7-2 63SO 2.50ERA
          Miley: 4-2 49SO 2.01ERA
          Masterson: 5-5 73SO 5.26ERA
          Kelly: 6-3 56SO 3.52ERA

As for our top 3 leaders in each hitting category…

AVG: Pedroia .348, Ramirez .288, and Sandoval .282
HR: Ortiz 12, Pedroia and Ramirez both with 10, and Zunino 8
H: Pedroia 80, Ortiz and Sandoval both with 68, and Betts 63
RBI: Ortiz 42, Sandoval 39, and Pedroia 35

Now for this amazing set of trades with the Twins. The Red Sox decided to completely design their future and acquire 2 top prospect (you can probably guess who). Here are the two trades:

The Red Sox sent 18 year old 3B Rafael Dever, 21 year old SS Marco Hernandez, and 24 year old CF Jackie Bradley Jr. to the Twins in exchange for 21 year old 3B Miguel Sano.

The Red Sox sent 19 year old LF Braxton Davidson, 19 year old LF Nick Longhi, and 19 year old CF Manuel Margot to the Twins in exchange for 21 year old CF Byron Buxton.

I thought hard about these trades, and ultimately decided to pull the trigger. Decided to test out Buxton and Sano in AAA by playing a game with them. Of course we had to be going up against Carlos Rodon. No matte! The Paw Sox bat's game out to play. Both Buxton and Sano homered in their first game with their new team and we were able to crush Rodon 10-1. Needless to say Rodon needs some more time before making the jump to the majors.

Our future is looking bright, and so is the present. I will not be able to get much more of the franchise done today and possible tomorrow, but an update is soon to come!

Re: MLB 15 Franchise Progress Thread

I'm sitting at June 1st in my D'Backs Franchise. We've had some big injuries and it's been a fairly up and down year so far. Things were looking pretty bad Mid-May. We were 8 games under .500 and this season wasn't looking very bright, however we turned things around with a 7 game win streak by sweeping both Miami and Chicago, but we lost Goldschmidt for 1-2 months in the final game of the Cubs series.

We finished out the final week on May by going 3-2 getting us to .500 at the end of the month. We're currently 8 GB in the NL West, but only 2.5 back in the Wild Card.

Here's my stats up to this point:

I'm doing a franchise using both the Indians and Cubs. Both teams are exactly what you describe imo. I just finished the month of April. I play 10 games per team each month. Will be posting my first monthly update later tonight actually!

I suggest the Rockies. I'm using them now and sitting at an abysmal 3-9. Great hitting, no pitching but a potential superstar in gray in the minors.

I really like the way you do your line-up/rotation. Is that just in Excel? I might borrow that idea if you don't mind.

That could be interesting. I'm not very good at hitting, I use directional and am not sure about how to hit properly. I mainly pop-up. I use the Real Sliders v1.0

Currently running a single franchise (30 team control), and playing with both the Cleveland Indians (my favorite team), and Chicago Cubs. I choose at the beginning of each month to choose two games per SP to pitch with and play those games for a total of 10 played games per team each month.

I just finished the first month of the season and it has been good overall, but I have some question marks ahead. With the Indians, after starting the month 4-7, my offense finally came around some along with some dominant pitching by the SPs. I won 8 straight at one point and ended the month winning 9 of the last 10 in the month of April. I currently am 13-8, essentially tied with the Tigers in the Central division who is 14-9.

With the Cubs, I started off great with a 6-1 record. Then slowly cooled down with some very bad pitching. I went 6-9 the rest of the month, ending the month by getting swept by the Pirates at home. I am currently 12-10 with them and are tied with the Pirates who are also 12-10. The Pirates are already 5-2 against me, which I'm afraid the early losses against them could come back and haunt me come September.

                              Team stats (rank)

Cubs BA- .291 (2nd behind Mets at .292)
Indians BA- .270 (4th, Red Sox at .282 in 3rd)

                              Cubs Runs- 118 (1st)
                              Indians Runs- 89 (10th)

                              Cubs Doubles- 52 (1st)
Indians Doubles- 41 (T-3rd with Mariners)

                              Cubs Homeruns- 23 (8th)
Indians Homeruns- 18 (T-24th with Giants)

                              Cubs RBIs- 118 (1st)
Indians RBIs- 86 (T-10th with Brewers)

                              Cubs Fielding %- .991 (7th)
                              Indians Fielding %- .989 (10th)

                              Cubs ERA- 4.16 (29th) <---killing me!!
                              Indians ERA 3.15 (7th)

Interested in how things look after another month into the season.

Baltimore Orioles First month of baseball update. Finished the month of April 12-10 (1.0 GB) behind the 13-9 Red Sox. Manny Machado has carried the O's offense ending the month on a 20 game hit streak (.333 l 26 hits l 7 HR l 12 RBI). Also Caleb Joseph (.333 l 3 HR l 13 RBI) has filled in nicely for Matt Wieters who missed the start of the season. If the Orioles wanna make a deep run Adam Jones (.209) will need to get off his month long slump. Alejandro De Aza has been killing the top of the order struggling to get on base (.190) and will need to turn the corner or Buck Showalter may look to Delmon Young to replace him who is currently on the 15 day DL with a bruised arm.

Kevin Gausman has been the ace of the staff (2-1 l 3.73 l 4 QS), Tillman, Gonzalez & Bud Norris all have 5.00 ERA + and Wei-Yin Chen (1-2 month) & Ubaldo Jimenez (2-3 weeks) are on the DL. The bullpen has been lights out, and Zach Britton leads the league with 9 saves.
