Re: MLB 15 Franchise Progress Thread

My Philadelphia Phillies are currently sitting at 8-8 heading into the last two series of April. Made 1 trade and a couple Free Agent Signings thus far (Harang back to LA in exchange for Mike Adams coming back to Philly). Really having trouble with consistency in any facet of my pitching unless it is either Hamels or Lee. If I am not in first or second place by July 31st, I am probably going to move Lee, but I am looking to move McGowan in exchange for a pair of younger consistent arms; any suggestions?

Okay so I'm the Yankees and 2 of my best prospects are behind the plate (Gary Sanchez/ 21 y.o/ B Potential and Luis Torrens/ 18 y.o/ B Potential)

So Brian McCann was struggling in the majors and I dealt him to the Tigers for some pitching prospects (at time of deal I believe he had .198/3 HR/ 7 RBI in about 24 games). I saw it as a win-win because not only did I get some young pitching prospects to help my 25th ranked ERA, but I also freed up a spot for one of those two catchers in the future.

However, I initially felt that they could use some more time in the MiLB, so I left Sanchez in AAA and Torrens in AA and rolled with J.R Murphy as my catcher. My god he is horrible. Slash line of .204/.204/.389 , and has 4 errors in 15 games. For a lack of better terms, what the **** .

So, would you guys bring up either Sanchez (62) or Torrens (61) in place of Murphy (70), or would you ride the season out with Murphy and let them continue to develop in the minor?
At this point I'd probably ride it out with Murphy, and give thekids some more time to develop in the minors. On another note, I winder what the deal is with McCann in this game. He is batting under .220 for me, and it was game 4 or 5 of my franchise before he even got his first hit. Which was a bloop single. Maybe it's just us.

Does this Playoff stamina bug effect everyone? Or is it just random, or something else like a carry over save triggering it? If it happens to everyone, it is kind of ruining my excitement of most likely making the playoffs.

Re: MLB 15 Franchise Progress Thread

I'm having fun with a Rockies franchise. I play 1 then sim 2. I was 18-13, first in the NL West, before dropping three straight. Now, the Padres and Giants are 20-17 and tied for first. I'm 18-16 and 0.5 games back. I'm playing a series with the Dodgers now, in LA and I'm facing Kershaw.

My BP has been anemic for the most part. Spring Training FA pickup Aaron Poreda has been a bright spot. I'm keeping the roster pretty realistic/following real life injuries, so Ottavino (my closer) is out for the season.

Two weeks ago (in the chise) Tulowitski and Nolan Arenado both went down with bad injuries, both will miss about 49 more days. It's a shame because I kind of want to trade Tulo.

So, without them, I have DJ LeMahieu and third, call-up Angelys Nina at second (rookie) Wilin Rosario/Justin Morneau at first, Charlie Blackmon and Drew Stubbs at CF, Daniel Descalso at SS, Michael McHenry/Nick Hundley in a tight position battle at C, and Corey Dickerson and Carlos Gonzalez as my outfielders. OF Kyle Parker and Brandon Barnes round out the bench.

            BP:
Christian Friedrich (3-0, 3.71 ERA, 26 innings in 8 games)
Tommy Kahlne (8.44 ERA in just 5 innings/4 games)
Aaron Poreda- 0-1, one save, 19 innings, 1.86 ERA, 15 games, 19 SO, great pickup, 69 OVR

John Axford, Rafael Betancourt and Rex Brothers rotate between SU and CP, all three have blown saves.

That did the trick. I had 90 players total and by releasing one hopeless soul I was able to get the trade request to go thru.

              Thanks.

I've seen a few others mention it. I think it happens to everyone and people just aren't to the playoffs yet. didn't care over a save.

I started my first ever franchise in The Show last night with the Miami Marlins and what a disastrous opening day it was. I lost 8-1 to Atlanta with Jose Fernandez being hit hard, although he was not helped with 3 errors behind him in the first 2 innings. It started well enough with a run on 3 hits in the 1st but it all went wrong from there and I had only 1 XBH in the game. You know it isn't your day when you win a replay challenge for the first time and hit into an inning ending DP on the very next pitch. Anyway hoping for better in game 2. I love this game, it has helped me rediscover my love for baseball and I enjoy reading how others are doing in their franchises.

Re: MLB 15 Franchise Progress Thread

In my Cubs franchise, currently 70-54(or something like that) heading into mid August. We are in second place to the Pirates(4 games out). I have made a few moves including acquiring:

Jeff Samardjia & Geovany Soto for Jason Hammel & 2 B prospects.(Jason Hammel just wasn't getting the job done and I felt that he was really holding us back from where we could be. Soto was acquired as Castillo wasn't getting the job done behind the plate.

Traded for Odubel Herrera from the Phillies for 2 B prospects and a C prospect. Herrera is going to be the starting center fielder next season after Fowler leaves as he has hit .313 with over 20 stolen bases already.

Signed Tyler Colvin(Dexter Fowler ended up on the DL out for 2-3 months so I signed Colvin to take over CF. Colvin did a wonderful job and has hit in the mid .260's with 14 home runs in less than 300 at bats.

Miguel Montero and a B potential prospect for 1B/C Willin Rosario. Rosario was sent down by the Rockies this year so his time in Colorado was coming to an end. After hitting only .167 for the Rockies he has came over and raises his batting average to .299 with 13 home runs to go along with it.

Baez/Rizzo/Soler/Bryant have provided quite the spark each hitting in the teens for home runs so far with Soler leading the team at 19. Bryant is the only one of the foursome hitting above .260 however as the others have struggled. Also a note that Baez, Soler, & Bryant all are 1,2,3 in the NL in strikeouts. I found this odd since I only play every 5th game as I have settled in with Edwin Jackson in the 5th pitcher spot.

Speaking of Jackson, he has been fantastic for me with a 9-4 record and an ERA hovering around 3.50. This is actually good for 4th on our team out of the 5 starters with only Arrieta having an ERA higher.

I started a test franchise and summed up to the playoffs. Summed through to the second turn in the rotation in the playoffs and my pitchers were well rested.

Yeah the issue it with playing the games though. Start up each game and just sim to the end. The players dont regain the same amount of stamina as usual.

Re: MLB 15 Franchise Progress Thread

I'm about 90 games into my season and I'm hanging on to 3rd in the NL Central with the Pirates. I think I'm 48-42/43 at this point. Having a blast with my squad and I play all my games.

I waited for the ASB to conduct all trades (30-team control) and a few notables I can think of off the top of my head:

Twins 1B Joe Mauer to the Indians for prospects
                          - Mauer was hitting .341 and the Twins had the worst record in baseball. In his first two games he hit 3 home runs for Cleveland.

Phillies SP Cole Hamels to the Red Sox for prospects (Henry Owens+)
                          - The Phils suck and Boston needed an improvement to the rotation badly. Hamels threw a CG SHO his 1st game.

There are more I'll post them later

I'm 31-14 in my Yankees up 1.5 games on the white-hot Orioles, winners of eight straight. I split the first two games of my series with Kansas City in the Bronx. For some reason I can't get Eric Kratz out, and it's really getting annoying. Looking to take the rubber game of the series later tonight.

The Twins have finished April on a 3 game skid. Their longest such streak on the season. The team is 10-12, 2.5 games behind Cleveland. Here is a look at the team stats through April. Also included below are the current standings and a review of the box scores.

Now that is the kind of month I was expecting. 19-8 to bring us to 31-20 and take a 2 game lead over Detroit for 1st place.

In April we hit .240, 193 hits, 18 HR and 84 RBI. May we hit .261, 240 hits, 24 HR and 108 RBI. Eric Hosmer, Jarrod Dyson and Mike Moustakas all had great months. Hosmer slumped a bit at the end but still hit .351 with 4 HR and 13 RBI. Dyson was pretty solid all month. He hit .333 with a .418 OBP in the lead off spot. Moustakas was terrible the first 14 games of the month. He hit .175 with 0 HR and 3 RBI. But he broke out in a 15-3 win over Milwaukee. In that game he was 3-5 with 2 HR and 9 RBI. That helped him hit .387 with 4 HR 15 RBI over the last 13 games of the month. Overall in May he hit .292 with 4 HR and 18 RBI. Gordon came down a bit. Hitting .302 now and still leads the team in runs, HR and RBI.

Pitching was already good. But it got even better. April - 3.15 ERA, 188 hits, 87 ER and169 K's. May - 2.25 ERA, 176 hits, 62 ER and 188 K's. Danny Duffy and Jason Vargas are dominating. Duffy is 7-1 with a 1.32 ERA in 10 games. Vargas is 6-2 with a 1.73 ERA and 9 of his 10 games have been quality starts. Kris Medlen is doing pretty good as well. 3-2 with a 3.00 ERA. Ventura and Volquez are struggling, But have seemed to be getting better. Ventura is 4-6 with a 4.20 ERA and Volquez is 4-4 with a 4.55 ERA.

In AAA, through 10 games Sean Manaea is 7-2 with a 1.39 ERA and 83 K's in 71 innings. Whit Merrifield is hitting .322 with 20 RBI and Hunter Dozier is hitting .296. For AA, Jackson Yates is hitting .363 with 5 HR and 21 RBI to go with 16 SB. Jesus Fernandez is hitting .301. But he just cant buy a hit with RISP hitting just .077 and only has 8 RBI. Foster Griffin is 4-0 with a 1.57 ERA. At 20 years old he looks like he could be a beast for years to come.

On April 16th, rookie Stephen Piscotty for St Louis was suspended 70 games for a failed PED test . He was hitting .333 at the time.

I completely forgot the scout players so the draft will be very interesting.
