Let's face it, nothing we post is going to sway your decision and nothing you say is going to sway our experiences. We can (and have) posted dozens of videos showing exactly what we're talking about and all I keep hearing is "that's baseball" or "it's a glitch" or "we must have a different game." We have the exact same game and we're seeing something you're not. We're experiencing something you're not. We're frustrated and you're not. But please, let's stop trying to rationalize the videos that are being posted. You've asked us to post videos and we've complied with your requests showing blatant examples of it. Let's just agree to disagree because that's really all we can do at this point.Comment

Re: I really, really want to like this game.
Wouldn't fielding better than the other team mean that one team made (more) fielding mistakes?
Not necessarily errors but bad routes to the ball, poor(er) range, weak throws that, while on target, didn't get the runner, etc.
How do you represent that in the game? If a fielder on auto fielding takes a poor route with the new fielding AI system - would that count as "late game manipulation"?Comment

You're showing examples of things happening in one game. And you are saying that an untimely error is cheese by the cpu to make things challenging. I will continue to discuss that, because I don't believe it to be true based on my experience.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Re: I really, really want to like this game.
On the video that I posted, where was the fielding mistake? On the pickoff throw into the stands, where was my mistake? My SS reading the label on the ball and taking his time before throwing to first? My outfielder getting glued to the track allowing for extra bases. ......Comment

Re: I really, really want to like this game.
There are weak animations in the outfield at the least (the lazy "get off the wall" one really, just...), and I don't doubt the glitches and evidence has been given.
However, I don't believe they happen "to make it harder on the user" or "to make a team win/lose late in the game" or "only on higher difficulty levels".
I have seen actual poor fielding. Bad routes (looking at you Stanton and Ozuna), terrible throws (Solano), etc."Some people call it butterflies, but to him, it probably feels like pterodactyls in his stomach." --Plesac in MLB18Comment

Re: I really, really want to like this game.
Once I switched to auto-fielding and auto-baserunning, the game has been nothing short of amazing to me.
I don't feel like it's scripted at all, unless by scripted you mean completely random......
Just last night, I had 2nd and 3rd with two outs, I'm trying to work the count, fouling off pitches (left handed batter, right handed pitcher) and then he throws me a cutter that I commit to, it runs in on my hands and jams me, my swing is "late", and the ball flairs out into short left field - "no mans land" - runners from 2nd and 3rd score on a bloop single that had no business being a two run single. Re: I really, really want to like this game.
No, but it always gets difficult when the user can control every aspect of the player and to still have the player be limited by his ratings.
It's the same thing as in Madden - if a player is good with the sticks, how do you still represent that the player being controlled is bad at whatever it is?
With auto-fielding, a player with poor fielding ratings will actually take bad routes to the ball. A user won't necessarily do the same thing, so how does the game represent the player's inability to read the ball off the bat without hindering user input?
What stops a guy with 10 range and 10 fielding from being Willie Mays or Brooks Robinson under user control?"Some people call it butterflies, but to him, it probably feels like pterodactyls in his stomach." --Plesac in MLB18Comment

Re: I really, really want to like this game.
I have to ask...do you not want ratings to matter...better yet, do you want 100% input in every action of the game. Reading your comments in the various threads, this seems to be the case. There is nothing wrong with that, but if that is the case, The Show is not the right game for you. Even with meter pitching, zone hitting, and manual fielding and throwing, ratings will still generate randoms events. This includes missed grounders, a pitch that is perfectly in the green yet still does not go where you want, a good timing swing with the ball in the center of the PCI that is a weak pop up. These are all rating generated random events. So yes, the game code is doing this, but it is the ratings, nothing more, introducing these events.
The exception is some of these glitches or wonky animations (such as the fielder slowing down at the wall after a catch) but those happen at all difficulties and settings.
