something I thought of when playing over this weekend while pitching (in broadcast pitching view) if you hit R1 or R2 it shows your pitches of the current at bat but its from the same camera view and can be hard to tell exactly where those pitches were at in the zone because the icons are so big they get clustered. how about when you do hit this button to view the pitch history it zooms in on the catcher to better show you exactly where those pitches did wind up in the zone. Also just a general zoom in on the catcher when he is calling the next pitch would be a nice addition along with being able to shake of a pitch instead of just picking whatever you want to throw and ignoring the sign altogether.

Gameplay: Pitching Improvements
First, I think something has to be done to make individual pitches more unique. Pitching delivery has somewhat of an effect on the way a given pitch breaks, but only from the pitching view. And the impact delivery does have isn't enough.i have a couple of suggestions:
1.) Add as many pitch types as possible. And make them break differently. Vulcan change, Palmball, and Changeup all break the exact same. You could add signature pitches. Such as, Kershaws curve, Felix's Changeup, Tanakas splitter, etc. And PLEASE add a split change and make it break the same direction as a sinker.
2.) Add more pitch stats. Control and break. A pitch doesn't have to break a lot to be nasty. Add a "Movement" stat. A ratings bar that has "Early" on the left side and "Late" on the other. This would dictate when the pitch begins to break during its flight to the plate. This would create SOME uniqueness to a pitchers pitches.
- I also think you could add more stats for the actual pitcher.
3.) For a pitches "break" stat, add two sub categories: Vertical and Horizontal. Either use 1-99 like all the other ratings or use inches and get the information from a great website like brooks baseball. Personally, I would Use 1-99 ratings and have an bar that tells you how many inches it's gonna break based on what number your rating is.
4.) Add an a batting stance/pitch delivery creator. Hell, there are several pitching deliveries that don't even "work" for lack of a better word. They either look absolutely ridiculous, are super slow with an unrealistic arm angle, and/or the ball shoots out of the hand almost like a glitch. I believe Veteran windup 50 is one of them. It would also be super cool to have a pitch creator. The ability to create your CAP's pitches would be awesome.
5.) Add player pitching characteristics. Like ground ball pitcher, power pitcher, control pitcher etc. Each one would do different things to players ratings. Say there are ten or fifteen different "characteristics" to choose from and every pitcher can have three.
Other than some minor issues the gameplay is great. in my opinion, pitching is the aspect of gameplay that could be much better and more realistic. The Devs are constantly stating how important it is for the game to be realistic and pitching could be MUCH more realistic.
B) Another thing I've thought about is to add sub entries to attributes. For example, fielder reaction: outfielders can have first step and route efficiency. A guy like Jackie Bradley isn't the fastest CF but his first step and routes are excellent and that why many predict he'll win Gold Gloves in the future. Mookie Betts on the other hand relies more on his speed and athleticism.
Also, breakdown hitters' pull tendencies. For example, I've watched Conforto regularly hit liners and flyballs to the opposite field for doubles and homers. But apparently he's an overwhelming pull hitter on ground balls (Cincinnati was doing the classic infield shift on him). By adding this sub-trait, you can have teams that are heavily into defensive shifts in real life trigger infield shifts in the game with players that have--let's say-- 90% ground ball pull rate, for example.
This is a great game already so its hard to take it to the next level. Maybe it's these kinds of subtle improvements that can excite the hard core gamers, while graphics improvements can appeal to the casual ones.Comment

Re: Thoughts for MLB 16 the Show (offline)
It completely demolishes the atmosphere of the games. In '13 on PS3 (last one I bought), it adds a whole other level of playing at home or on the road. I love getting back for a home stand so I can hear my team music again.
No matter what generic music they put in there, it just kills the excitement of individual moments.
Right now, getting MLB '15: The Show on PS4 would actually be a DOWNGRADE.Comment

I think it would be awesome to see an ability to build new stadiums in franchise mode, and possibly relocate teams. Would be awesome to play as the A's and build them a new ballpark, or play as the Rays and relocate them. I can't remember if it was The Show, but wasn't there a game in last gen that you could build a stadium and add to it as you made money?
This leads perfectly to my next request, an owner mode or a way to make team funds matter in franchise. Similar to how Madden is trying to do it but without the many flaws lol. I could care less about setting ticket prices and the price of hot dogs, but if we just got X amount of revenue based on the attendance of home games plus Y amount for every game played for a local TV deal, and then that money is what we could use to either pay salaries, save up to build a stadium, upgrade the stadium, things along those lines. I think that could be a really fun addition to franchise mode.

The franchise mode in that game was insane.Comment

Lot of great ideas, I will say two things I hope are removed is the curved hats, they don't look right and because we can't edit caps..for some reason, take them out. Also sweat line in the cap, not needed imo.
The other thing is I wonder how long this game can go on under the current engine. Graphically it's starting to look dated, now that may have to do with this isn't a true next gen game not sure, but it's something to keep an eye on. I wonder what we will see when they stop making this game for PS3Comment

I actually agree. Bought 15 on the PS4 because I figured it COULDNT make that much of a difference and this is without question my least played, least favorite of the series and I think its because there isn't the emotional attachment to the players and ballparks that SOS brings. It is WAY cooler to see Arenado come to the plate in the late innings to an ACTUAL tune than that generic crap that shipped on the game. C'mon SONY, get this figured out!Comment

To me, it is scouting. Every team needs to evaluate each prospect differently. Would put more faith in your scouts. I would love for one scout to say he is an ace in waiting while another says he is a number 3 at best.Angels= 2025 World Series Champions!!Comment

Re: Thoughts for MLB 16 the Show (offline)
The show needs to put all the teams a player has played on in player card / (lockeroom) so you could see year to year where a player has played just like they do in other games . They only show 2014 and up not past years that's a big flawComment

Re: Thoughts for MLB 16 the Show (offline)
In road to the show every player on every team bio card starts at 2014 I want to see his past stats from his real rookie year ex : a rod Stat should start 1996 and show Texas and Seattle as his past teams they really need to fix that other sports games don't lack that! !Comment

The radio show is nice, looking forward to see where that goes. Hoping they work Matty V hard to get "tv Matt!" Listening to some of his calls from that Angels 11-10 win last weekend, he's got so much untapped talent.1458, not counting playoffs, that's the number of games in a row I haven't missed! Go Yanks!Comment

Re: Thoughts for MLB 16 the Show (offline)
The things I really want the most for MLB 16 The Show are.
1. Upgraded "in game" presentation with little things (2 Run HR Mike Trot 15th of season) overlay that popup while the batter is rounding the bases and new in between inning batter due up overlays with "2 for 4" type stat next to each of the 3 batters.
2. Completely new upgraded player models that rival NBA2K16.
3. Major upgrade to commentary and crowd atmosphere that rivals MLB 2K13.
4. Many many more pre,in game and post game animations.
5. Much more accurate stadiums including grass and dirt.
6. Lots and lots of gameplay bug fixes and fixing all those instances where you see those slow and awkward animations.
7. Greatly improved CPU AI manager and bullpen logic especially.
8. Less bunting by the CPU especially when the bases are loaded.
9. Improvements to the Ball and Bat boys. More animations are needed perhaps?
10. A lot more Stat tracking including being able to look at a players complete baseball team by team history. Like on the back of a baseball card.
11. Another round of improved Ball Physics.
12. Rosin bag on pitchers mound in real time
That's my top 12 most wants for MLB 16 The Show.
Can't wait to MLB 16 The Show info starts coming out!!!
Probably about 10 weeks or so.Last edited by tnixen; 10-12-2015, 11:41 AM.Comment
