You say to the public that Online Franchise wasn’t played much in MLB 14, well that was due to the fact that online was unplayable.

Then in MLB 15 is playable online because of stability fixes, but none of the franchise features from MLB 15 made it into online.
Then in MLB 16, with all the NEW and GREAT features in Franchise mode they decide not to put ANY in MLB16 Online Franchise.

This is a mode that was pretty much identical to offline in MLB 14. And not touched in 2 YEARS. This is ridiculous. I like to play with 2 or 3 friends in the same division. There is nothing more fun then fighting after the same free agents or going after the same prospects and fighting for the top of the division.

Can SCEA just come out and say why? I mean there are other issues in the mode, no position player fatigue, schedule is identical year to year, no all stars, injuries don’t work, said it was opening day all year with on field patches, Wrigley ivy stayed dead, and many more.

Is this mode apart of the future or no? This news completely deflates my anticipation for the game. They talk about how the mode isn’t used a whole lot in MLB 14 because of horrible online stability, and then abandon it 2 years in. If its not part of the future please tell us NOW!
Nick gave the answer 45000 play online franchise 500000 play offline and like just as many play DD why would they spend alot of time of something 5-10% of the gaming pool even touch and likely only 2-5% are really in to.

by that logic then why have The Show live and Challenge of the week, guarantee a lot less play those two modes. Sure if online and online franchise was not a sub-par experience the past 3 years more people would be invested into the mode

Did they update those two items? I'm really asking because I haven't heard anything on them but I assume those are untouched as well.

I hope they continue to try and get features for you online guys but they explained the reasoning and it had NOTHING to do with ignoring you.
          tldr;

They gave me what I wanted, I don't care about online franchise so I have no idea what I'm talking about.

They haven't touched it for THREE years, people that play that mode have every right to be upset. I'm sure even the SCEA guys understand why we're mad.

            Re: Online Franchise

I like the Madden online franchise example that was previously mentioned. I am disappointed with the lack of support towards Online Franchise, makes me feel like we've been neglected for years. I can understand DD updates but Jesus, why even add that OF mode to the game if you obviously don't bother updating it. I used to play offline franchise by myself......ON THE PS2/PS3. Get with the times and realize that you can take this game to newer heights, if you improve the OF mode....at least combine them aka Madden route.

Things like this makes me cringe and sometimes wonder if MVP baseball can ever make a comeback, EA actually handled the offline and online franchises very well. We pay for a PS Plus membership to play with our friends, friends that we like to compete against in every area, from the playing field to team building (GM skills)...this is disappointing, man.

With our luck, we'll get these features next year and that should be one of the 'new features' to get us 'excited' and 'pumped' to 'buy' the next MLB the Show.

I miss the good ol' days when gaming companies actually had competition.

I have no desire to ever touch online franchise...but here's my point:

Isn't it reasonable to believe that the discrepancy is so large because online franchise is horrible?

Isn't it reasonable to believe that if online franchise was similar to offline franchise that the gap would close?

I'm not sure how much it would close, but I think it's a reasonable point.

                Re: Online Franchise

I could really care less how they spend their time in regard to other game modes. We have absolutely no idea how SCEA's time and resource management affects the final product, and it really isn't all that productive to try and speculate on this particular matter.

What we do know is that this series has been an absolute dumpster fire online until they finally managed to create a mediocre experience this past year. That's a decade of an online product that has ranged somewhere between poor to unplayable.

It very well could be the case that it isn't worth SCEA's time to focus on the online franchise portion of the game. But let's see those numbers after the series has a few years of a playable online product under its belt.

Lol... Really, SCEA??? Your game isn't getting a ton of play online...?? I wonder if that could have something to do with the bed you guys have been figuratively ****ting up for the past 10 years. How about instead of throwing those B.S. numbers back in the face of loyal fans, you apologize, or at least empathize with people who have been attempting to enjoy online baseball in spite of your game.

And maybe in MLB 17 you could throw us online and online franchise guys a freaking bone. It's the least you could do after completely neglecting this major facet of the game for so long.

Yes it's undeniable that more people would play if online was better. I guess another year where every game is Opening Day. lol..sigh. Just have to kind of laugh it off at this point. We probably know more about Online Franchise and its bugs then they do.

not going about it in wrong way, we submit bug reports (lmao) every year, provide video and photos, invite devs into leagues to witness bugs/glitches and yet another year it goes untouched

I find it ironic that online play becomes stable when DD becomes a huge part of the game. Online is a priority for them. Look at all the new additions these last two years. DD.

honestly its the same reason why the NHL series took out GM Connected. because just not enough people play it. so why would they commit resources to it.

yes it sucks big time for the folks who do play the mode but its a business and from the business stand point, it just makes perfect sense to focus on the modes majority of your playerbase plays.

cause and effect, their online code has been horrible until MLB15.

The gameplay is not that bad..it's just the bugs that pop up occasionally that cripple the mode. If I didn't enjoy playing it I wouldn't be mad clearly, there is some real potential with the mode they just have to put some resources into it.

I think it's a fair expectation for Online Dynasty players to want some sort of answers in relation to any changes to the mode. Personally, I was just hoping for the opportunity to be able to play an online co-op season with my friend without having to annoyingly use shareplay. I'm not suprised all the added features shown today were not added to online franchise. I was suprised however to hear the analytic numbers used as the reason to shrug it off. As impressive as scouting, luxury tax, morale, and future salary progression systems are, how many of the 500,000 people are taking full advantage of that? Playing 5 to 10 seasons down the road? It's a great effort on their part, but as part of the "franchise" stream, I was expecting something to be mentioned beyond "nobody really plays it"
