    Re: New morale features

I liked it in FIFA 13 (I think?). It put a lot of focus on what could otherwise get boring.

I remember one season I had a player who was unhappy because I signed another player that they felt threatened their position on the team. Both got top minutes, and the new guy was doing well. He kept complaining about not being happy, and finally demanded a trade.

I sent him to another team, and was happy to be done with him. Then, every time we played that team, I made sure to just bury as many goals as I could.

Another nice aspect is it prevents you from just stacking a team with top tier talent because you trade for them or otherwise get them. Top guys expect top minutes, so in baseball I would have a tough time getting someone like Carlos Gomez to stay happy if I promised him he would be my starting CF and then he's riding the bench 3/4 of the year.

I can think of one off the top of my head. Most contract extensions occur during the players arbitration and renewable years and the cpu and human can do that currently.

I am a little worried when contract extensions hit the game that we will see very limited free agent classes because the cpu will sign everyone to below market deals.

I'm actually hoping that is improved in the offseason this year. I usually put contracts on manual and Sim through the exclusive period because players resign for ridiculously low amounts and never hit the market.

There is the ability to restructure contracts during season in baseball, and doesn't matter how often it occurs. If Gerrit Cole is unhappy about his contract and it affects his performance in any way, I as GM want to within reason make my best pitcher happy. Now maybe that would include having a conversation with him and discussing what we could do in the offseason. Unfortunately, we cannot discuss such matters with our players in this game.

You don't want to hear what anyone has to say...and you're last post was REALLY reaching.

Speaking of reaching, your statement above is really reaching. Why not let the conversation continue? If it bothers you so much, ignore it.

Like I said, posting that gif adds nothing to the conversation. If what I say bothers you so much, put me on your ignore list, or simply ignore the conversation.

Your gif is still there. I don't care what you think, and the conversation I was having with people here did not include you. If you want to reply to my last post before you jumped in with that gif, very intelligent, quote and reply with words--and maybe, just maybe we could have an intelligent discussion.

As far as attribute rating it might seem significant but will a 1 overall drop cause this player to fall of the planet and lose all ability to put up numbers? No. You see it when a team is struggling, the players on the team lose interest and perform poorly. Or if they're team is thriving their game improves too.

In terms of progression, like I said a player can still perform well even if their morale is low and take a negative hit on their overall rating.
That's what the upside is for me aside from just giving me more stuff to do in franchise. It puts a downside in the game to teams which try to load up on star players, even CPU teams. It doesn't prevent it but it has a downside.

It isn't easy IRL to get a bunch of stars with big egos all pulling in the same direction. The best in recent years was probably Torre.

The real point is players who are unhappy about their contract can have it affect performance--and nothing you can do until offseason. Until then, the negative effect remains. In my opinion, they should have left that out until putting in ability to negotiate contracts during season.
Again, Cole was shown before the season had started. His overall was only down -1 and that will not have a significant impact on his progression.

I agree with those who see the potential downside to in season contract negotiations. It is not common IRL and could result in CPU teams signing most or all of their potential free agents and leaving the offseason void of free agents.

Far to much drama from you. This system is more realistic than what you propose.

Salvador Perez had his contract restructured around march 1st.

Any overall that is decreased means something.
