Re: Official MLB 16 : Road to the Show Thread

Completed my first season as a Closer for the Rockies. Was promoted to AAA Albuquerque in September.

(The Mariners beat the Giants to win the 2016 World Series. I could only wish in my drunken stupor dreams.)

At the start of the 2017 season was sent back to AA Hartford. During the first week played in several games.

One game I was brought in, I got the message that I was tired after my second pitch of the game. Almost blew the save. Came in the game on the next night and before I threw my first pitch I got the Tired message. I blew the save because I had no control what so ever.

I thought they had this fixed with the bullpen management. Anyone else see something like this?

Re: Official MLB 16 : Road to the Show Thread

I'm thinking about doing a more realistic progression RTTS after the Hybrid OSFM comes out. I'm thinking I'm going to create a 5 tool SS, set realistic ceilings for each attribute (example Power vs R: 87) instead of getting to 99 in almost every category, use 5,000 stubs to up his physical attributes (Speed, Reaction, Power, etc.) to 70% of his potential (gives him a 68-70 ratings range, which would make him a Top 10 prospect) , and then use the training points to raise each category slowly but no more than 1 point overall per month. If I do it right, he'll start his age 18 year somewhere between 68-70 and will be close to his max by his age 22 year. Then when I reach my age 30 year, I allow him to digress (1 overall 30-33, 2 overall 33-34, 3 overall 35-40) from his peak to an average player by age 40. Thought it would be more challenging and give the player a realistic career progression. Anyone ever done house rules like these? How did it work for you?

        Interesting approach.

I usually will look at other player's stats and then get an idea on how to shape mine. I usually play a switch batter so I get more playing time. I will look at other switch hitters and see what their contact and power ratings are for both side.

I don't like to max everything out. Just not fun if you're too dominate. Might have to use your model of regression. Thanks for the idea!

The game seems to equate just being in the majors as the ultimate goal, even if you're not getting hardly any starts. I mean, what team drafts a first round starting pitcher, let him tear it up in AA, do well, but not spectacular in AAA...then call him up in August and leave him in relief roles after he gets clobbered in his 1st start, as expected since they didn't let you season long enough? And then leave you as a middle relief guy perpetually? I mean, I admit, I live in New Orleans, I don't follow any MLB team all that extensively. Is this common?

Does this bug anyone else? I'd much rather be left in AAA to get my numbers up until they're ready for me to come in and start right away.
That's happened to me before. It usually has to do with a player coming off the dl. That causes you to be bumped from the rotation and relegated to the pen. What can really suck is when you get sent down afterwards and you're still stuck in the pen.

Re: Official MLB 16 : Road to the Show Thread

Alright... this'll be my 3rd update on my guy.

Following that crushing defeat in the World Series and getting taken out in the 2nd inning of Game #6 in the World Series vs the Chicago Cubs. The result? Javier Manzares came back determined... and boy was it the best thing that could have happened to him.

Dominating the start of the season, Manzares through 10 games had a sub-1 ERA and was simply masterful with an Orioles team that was always hovering around .500. But, soon his greatness and ego would reveal the ugly side of himself to fans. Frustrated with the teams record, as well as the lack of run support (resulting in various outstanding performances not resulting in wins on his record), Manzares demanded a trade. Past resentment with the way Buck Showalter treated him also came to a head. The place had gotten too toxic, and despite his greatness, the 21-year old was shipped out of Baltimore.

To where? Colorado. A straight up 1-for-1 deal sending Nolan Arenado to the Baltimore Orioles.

The even better part? Manzares 1st start vs the Orioles would be the Rockies. He would get a chance to show himself off and already start making O's fans regret their front offices decision. Sadly... that's not how things went. Manzares only survived 4 innings, gave up 2 home runs, and has a career ERA of 9.00 in a whooping 1 start vs the Orioles. It wasn't pretty to say the least.

While the early adjustment to Coors Field wasn't great, Manzares settled in after a-while. Stacking up majestic performances, Rockies fans seemed fine with the deal as long as it meant Manzares would be the stable ace of a franchise which has had trouble bringing in elite pitchers. The season was already lost by this point with the Rockies being 20 games being .500. They eventually finished the year with a 69-93 record, dead last in the NL West.

Still, it was not all bad for Manzares. He finished the year 15-8, a 1.65 ERA, 27 of his 32 starts were considered quality. He had a 0.74 WHIP. He had 4 shutouts along with 6 complete games. He pitched 220+ innings. He struck out 300+ batters. It wasn't a horrific year by any means and many believe he's one of the best young arms in baseball at just 21-years old.

On the other-hand, the Orioles declined when acquiring Arenado. They finished 4th in the AL East with a record of 74-88, well below the pace they would have finished it they day before they traded away Manzares. Nolan Arenado at 27-years old finished the year with an alright campaign. He hit 24 homers, drove in 65 RBIs, had a batting average of .252, .297 OBP, .456 SLG, and .753 OPS. he wasn't awful, but with Manzares finishing with a CY Young award and many believing he is going to be dominant for the next decade to come, we shall see if the Orioles come to regret their decision.

Javier Manzares Career Stats Thus Far:

                NFL - Miami Dolphins
                NBA - Miami Heat
                MLB - Miami Marlins
                NHL - Florida Panthers
                Soccer - Real Madrid

Re: Official MLB 16 : Road to the Show Thread

I finished the 2019 season with my RF. I batted .350 exactly with 53 HR and 147 RBI. I had a career high 79 stolen bases. Second straight MVP season, but it was quite a drop from my previous year where I hit .367 and 87 HR. That was on MLB 14 though which I thought was much easier to hit in.

The impressive thing about my 2019 season was the Braves team around me. Heyward, Upton, and Freeman all batted over .300. The three OF started the All-star game. Upton had over 30 HR, Heyward, Freeman and my 3B Pedro Alvarez all had over 20. But my team's pitching staff was unbeatable. Three starters were in the top 5 in wins (Teheran, Alex Wood, Mike Minor) and all starting pitchers in the rotation had winning records. The team as a whole won 109 games.

As for the playoffs, we swept every series, 3-0 over the D'backs, 4-0 over the Dodgers, and 4-0 over the Mariners. It was a dominant season.

As the 2020 season starts, some things are the same, some aren't. The position players on the team are still the same other than Pedro Alvarez who didn't resign but the team did trade for Todd Frazier in 2019 when Alvarez was injured for 2 months.

                  My 2020 lineup is:

                  CF Heyward
                  LF Justin Upton
                  RF My RTTS Player
                  1B Freeman
                  3B Frazier
                  C Gattis/Some fake player
                  2B Cesar Hernandez
                  SS Andrelton Simmons

The rotation is pretty different though. So we'll see how the new guys do. Teheran, Minor, and Wood all signed free agent deals on other teams. I still have Medlen who was turned into a fake player last year. I've had Erasmo Ramirez on my team for a few years now and he has always been decent. The #1 and #2 starters on the team are new and I'm not sure who they are. They may be fake players. Just started the season, so I can't even remember their names. lol. I do still have Kimbrel in the closer spot, but he isn't automatic as he should be, but I guess he's older.

Just had my first good at bat training session and unless they changed something about how it is scored it isn't working right. It was not telling me when runners are on 1b or 3b.
Do baserunners not matter for this any more?

Official MLB 16 : Road to the Show Thread

I made a RF that got drafted first by the DBacks on MLB 15 and started off really hot in AA. I had a short stint in AAA hitting .370 before I was called up to the show in the middle of the year. I hit around .240 and was looking to improve for the next season. The following year I batted .298 with 21 bombs but missed the next year with a pretty bad injury (can't remember what the injury was exactly). I then went on to hit .289 with 27 hr in 2018 and .306 with 33 hrs in 2019. 2019 was the first year we had a winning record since being on the team but barely missed the playoffs unfortunately.
Now on to 2020. I had played to about the middle of May and then MLB 16 the show came out. I transferred my guy over and picked up where I left off. Now at this point with all the playing I had done (and with the help of stubs, so I guess you could say I was juicing a little haha) my guy is a 99 ovr and his ratings would show that he is a generational type talent. Anyways, I start playing where I left off and on the same difficulty (all star). I "struggled" for the rest of May but was still hitting in the .290s. Once June started, I took off. I was crushing anything over the plate and was the leader in HR by 10 at the all star break. I go on to win the HR derby and the DBacks are on pace for over 100 wins for the season. I continue blasting everything and come into the last month batting in the .330s with 50 hrs. I start September off hot but then went cold during the last few games. The team did the same. We ended with 96 wins but could have easily been well over 100. We still clinched the division and had the 2nd best record in the league (Mike Trout and the Angels won 105 games) In the final game of the regular season my avg was at .316 and had 59 hrs. On one of my final plate appearances of the season I launched my 60th dinger which was a pretty great feeling getting to 60 lol. I ended the season with a slash line of .315/.388/.702 with 120 RBIs and 25 stolen bases. I ended up winning the NL MVP and Starsburg (who we signed a few years prior) won the Cy Young.
Now on to the postseason and we will be facing our Division rival the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLDS. I am really excited for the playoffs as I've never played in the postseason in RTTS ever. Hopefully I can carry over my great year into the playoffs and can give the DBacks their second World Series Championship.

So far I've been tearing up AA, but I forgot I had it set to dynamic difficulty which apparently is bugged, so that's probably part of it. Gonna bump it up to All-Star or something.

Still waiting for a patch that will fix the import function though. This is just something to bide my time since I can't import and I don't want to start a franchise until OSFM.

My teenage version of me gets drafted in round 2 pick 14 to the Rays as a 2B. I kicked butt in AA but a little hand injury put me out for a week and came back as the full time DH. I switched my position successfully to 1B and finished the season as the DH putting up big numbers.

I signed a cheap one year deal to open the year in AA again, 168 at bats and now in AAA. 167 at bats and now in MLB. In 70 games I hit 31 home runs and won rookie of the year. We lost in game 7 of the ALCS.

Year 3, signed cheap 3 year deal for Rays. Opening up the season with a high average, but not too much power.

Been so much fun I am keeping this one and making a Pitcher with OSFM!

It will have the wrong teams listed for your player under their career stats.

So my guy played 7 years with the Royals and 2 years with the Mets so far. When I go look at his player card it says he played 7 years with the Tigers and 2 years with the Nationals.

It might not bother some people but it definitely bothers me, especially because I plan to continue carrying this guy over to next year, and maybe the year after that, depending on how long it takes me to finish his career out. So I don't want it to still list the wrong teams for the next 2 years.

There is also an issue with other players besides your own guy having the wrong stats in their player card when you carry over a save. Your guy's stats will be correct but everyone else's will be messed up.

I just finished 2019 and into 2020 it still had the wrong team in my card. Says I played 2019 for the Astros just like every other season. Been on the Braves the whole time. I was hoping it would fix itself after a season.

                                Atlanta Braves
                                - Auburn Tigers - Nashville Predators
