Re: Official MLB 16 : Road to the Show Thread

I have a SS with the Mariners and somehow got my contract purchased from them, skipping AAA altogether about a month before the minor league all star game. We're currently in 7 games back of first in fourth place and I've only played my first major league game. Went 1-3 with a double as the DH, hoping they'll let me play on the field at some point. Kind of sucks, wanted to play in the all star game and get the boosted training points while doing so. Really enjoying the game this year though, more so than previous years thus far.

If you go to locker room and career achievements timeline thing. You can see what Year you signed the contract and figure it iut from there

Re: Official MLB 16 : Road to the Show Thread

Anyone playing at 1b or 3b noticed an insane amount of bunting? I've had 3 and 4 hitters square up with runners at 1st and 2nd with 2 outs numerous times. Twice I've seen Donaldson drop a bunt down with runners on 1st and 2nd. Also had many batters drop a bunt down with runners on and 2 outs, and no drag bunts, they all square up. Most of these occur when my player is even with the bag, but I've also had sacrifice bunts where the corners are in and they still drop the bunt down...with 2 outs many times. I can somewhat understand bunting with the corners back, or even with the bag. But when they're in, anticipating the bunt?

Since I'm in the topic. Why, if the corners are playing in do neither the pitcher, nor the 2b cover first if I (as 1b) grab the damn ball? It's extremely frustrating to make a good play on a sacrifice and basically have to eat it if you can't quickly mange the tag before the runner passes you.

Noobie question, when can I request a trade? Been working with the SF Giants and have been on a losing record for 3 years straight even though I lead the leagues in stolen bases, home runs and appeared in the all star game for my current year

Started a LF RTTS to pass the time until OSFM rosters come out (that's when I'll make my real one, I like to see my guy come up with real prospects).

So far doing pretty good in AA. Just hit AA All-Star break. Got the starting nod at LF for the Texas League North All-Stars.

Hitting .352 with 12 Doubles, 3 Triples, 5 Homers, 42 RBIs and 3 SB. Out on the field, I feel I've been playing pretty good considering this is my first time doing an OF RTTS (I always go SP, 2B/SS - positions I played in HS) but my dude has like 11 errors from stupid pop fly blunders.

Started it on Dynamic, realized it was barely progressing so been playing on All-Star difficulty, no slider adjustments.

It's under interactions, it's not always available and sometimes it takes awhile for them to trade you though, so keep at it.

I was hoping it'd be addressed but I see the way teams manage you is still archaic and based on old code, most likely.

The game seems to equate just being in the majors as the ultimate goal, even if you're not getting hardly any starts. I mean, what team drafts a first round starting pitcher, let him tear it up in AA, do well, but not spectacular in AAA...then call him up in August and leave him in relief roles after he gets clobbered in his 1st start, as expected since they didn't let you season long enough? And then leave you as a middle relief guy perpetually? I mean, I admit, I live in New Orleans, I don't follow any MLB team all that extensively. Is this common?

Does this bug anyone else? I'd much rather be left in AAA to get my numbers up until they're ready for me to come in and start right away.

How do you get more perks? The only ones I see are the one with guarantee grounders, the one that gurarantees a strike and the one that slows down the pitches in an at bat.

Edit: Never mind, I didn't realize that each attribute type had its own set of perks.

The call ups are abnormally quick. In every single RTTS I've played, the guy has made it to the league before the all-star break of the first year (usually going straight from AA to MLB, which is really bizarre). However, I have never had a guy used for any role other than the one I picked for him at the outset, regardless of how poorly he's done. I've never had a starting pitcher relegated to the bullpen.

Can anyone give me any insight on what happens if I turn down a contract offer from my current team? What happens? Is that how I open myself to more offers? I keep signing one year extensions with the Yankees but I'd like to try and go play for the hometown Reds before retiring. My guy is a CF and a 99 overall. Should I expect to see a lot of teams offering? Or am I most likely screwed. I can just save my game before going forward and test it out but I'm curious what others experiences have been.

I wish they'd do a little more with contracts/trades/etc. in RTTS. NBA 2k16 has it nailed.

It takes 6 years of mlb service till you can become a free agent.

My RTTS guy might be the first player ever to transition from catcher to 3rd base to shortstop.

Catcher was too tedious, 3rd too boring, but short seems just right after one game. Lots of chances with some variety, which is what 3rd sorely lacks. I was even forced into my first error when I charged a dribbler and was surprised by a quicker than usual throwing meter.

Looking forward to more so I better start investing in my fielding ratings!

I've got a question dealing with commentary name and accessories. I have sunglasses set to "always", due to the creepy eyes the players have, but my player never wears them.

My second issue is the commentators won't day my name, which is Jason but they will say Big Daddy, Buckeye, Cap, etc.. Any help will be appreciated.

edit: now they won't say any name listed, strange.

Not sure about the name, but sunglasses are only worn during day games when the sun is shining. They won't wear the sunglasses at night (unless your RTTS character's name is Corey Hart).

Is there auto base running in RTTS? I enjoy the batting and fielding, but grow tired quickly of having to run the bases.
