Re: MLB 16 Franchise Progress Thread

Thank you so much for everyone involved with the OSFM 1.5 40 man roster. Started my Rockies chise today using Armors sliders and settings, here we go!!!

Rockies open the season HOT, punching in 10 runs as they defeat the Arizona Diamondbacks 10-5

CarGo was CarGone as he blasted two mammoth home runs off Zach Grienke. He was named player of the game for his 3-5, 6 RBI effort.

Art imitated Life as rookie Trevor Story went 2-4 and mashed his first big league dinger of the his young and promising career.

    <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/D5e_B7llEII" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Jorge De la Rosa (1-0) got his first win, going 6 innings, allowing 3 runs on 9 hits while striking out 5.

Bergman came in the game for 9th inning mop-up duty and promptly allowed 2 runs to make it 10-5. Two more Diamondbacks got on base, and the Rockies skip was a little nervous. He induced a groundout with 2 outs to finally end the game.

Man, seeing all this about Trevor Story makes me remember having him in MLB13.

Loved that kid - had his struggles but everything he hit seemed to be extra bases.

Rockies leave Arizona with a record of 1-2 after losing two straight following opening day, however they wasted no time giving their fans something to cheer about as they even their record to 2-2 in their home opener at Coors Field.

Rockies jumped to a quick 3-0 lead but San Diego fought back to tie it up 3-3. Young right hander Jordan Lyles went 7 strong innings, allowing 3 runs (1 ER), 4 hits, and striking out 10. Lyles started the game off retiring 9 straight batters thanks to some stellar defense behind him

        <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/dmY5ZfnVpCU" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

In the bottom of the 7th, Mark Reynolds comes off the bench to give the Rockies the go ahead pinch hit home run. Motte and McGee work the 8th and 9th to seal the deal. 4-3 for the Rockies.

        Player of the game:

        DJ LeMahieu - 3 for 4, 2 runs, SB

Phillies get off to a very poor start to the 2016 season on Opening Day against the Reds with a 6-0 loss. Raisel Iglesias shut down the Phillies for 9 innings in pitching a complete game 2-hit shutout. That and 3 walks were all I could muster against Iglesias. His Sinker and Slider were pretty much untouchable the entire game as I struck out 12 times.

Very poor start from Aaron Nola who allowed 5 runs. Dalier Hinojosa gave up the 6th run out of the bullpen.

Hopefully a better showing in Game 2 against Brandon Finnegan.

The Marlins remain ice cold as August starts.

This lastest loss was a 1-hit shutout against Taylor Guerreri.
            Spoiler

The lack of offense wasted a beautiful start by Clay Huff. He allowed just one run in 7 innings, and that run came on a sac fly that was made possible by Dominic Brown hustling down the line to prevent a double play. That would have turned the fly to left into the third out. Instead, it gave the Phillies the only run in the game.

The Mets are now just four games behind as the Marlins just can't get out of their own way. Chris Taylor was no help at the plate, but then again, no one was any help at the plate.

They'll have to try to turn things around and soon.

Christian Yelich suffered a minor leg injury and will be listed as day-to-day. However, he doesn't plan to miss any time.

I don't know if this gets you ALL the prospects but I discover during April then focus the rest of the time scouting whoever I found.

If you have scouts with good efficiency ratings and remember to check on their progress (yeah, sometimes I forget, I just want to play the next game lol) so you can switch them to another assignment, that should at least cover a lot of the guys you find, and, again, with high efficiency, you'll be discovering guys quickly (so remember to check so you can give them another discover task).

I'm 10-7 heading into May in my OSFM Brewers Chise.
Braun hit .347 with 4 HR and 16 RBI.
Wily Peralta went 3-1 with a 1.32 ERA

Here is my work in progress franchise Spreadsheet.
I still need to Add League Leaders, Standings and other stuff like that. But my team stats are there

Opinions on best sliders to use for Franchise mode? I'm using this one set and one game I gave up just 3 runs on 6 hits and the next game I give up 19 runs on 28 hits.

                          MLB 16 Franchise Progress Thread

For those of you following my Jays franchise posts in this thread, I have a minor update regarding my trade with Colorado. I agreed to send Tellez and Nay for Blackmon and a D rated 1B/C for minor league depth. I have finally completed all trades for this season and will shoot for a playoff spot in a very competitive AL. I am sitting 1.5 games back, but really only the A's are out of it. It is crazy really!

Blackmon started off making a good impression in his first game as a Blue Jay. Batting lead off and playing LF against the Phillies, he went 2/4 with 1 Run and 1 SB. He started a big 4th inning with a lead off single and stole second. Donaldson walked, Bautista was hit, EE struck out and Tulo mashed a opposite field Grand Slam off the young Velasquez. Blackmon also had a bunt for base hit later in the game. The Blue Jays finished the game with a 6-2 win.

The lineup now looks like this:

                          LF Blackmon

                          3B Donaldson

                          RF Bautista

                          DH Encarnacion

                          SS Tulowitzki

                          1B Dan Vogelbach/Chris Colabelo platoon

                          2B Devon Travis

                          CF Kevin Pillar

                          Bench: Goins, Susac, Almonte

I really like the look of the lineup and the many options I have in game now with the addition of Blackmon. Josh Hamilton was sent to AAA and will reportedly play First Base for the rest of July and August in time for a September call up to backup OF/1B and hopefully get his bat back on track (hitting .196 :|)

To finish, I will recap the trades I have made in season 1:

                          1) Spring Training - Acquired OF Abraham Almonte, RP Kyle Crockett for OF DJ Davis and low C prospect. Davis ended up the starting CF for Cleveland this year and is doing well. Crockett is closing in AA and putting up great stats. Almonte served his 80 game suspension and is now the 4th OF batting .327 with 4HR and 11RBI.

                          2) Spring Training - Traded 1B Justin Smoak to the White Sox for C Rob Brantley. Brantley was shipped in a 3 team deal to Cleveland for a couple C prospects, which included 1B Jesus Aguilar. Smoak is doing the usual in Chi-town, Brantley is backing up Gomes and doing well, while the rest is minor league depth.

                          3) April - Acquired OF Matt Den Dekker and 1B/OF Tyler Moore from Nats for C AJ Jimenez and D Prospect. Den Dekker was DFA and sent to TOR after injuries in AA. He has split time in AA/AAA. Moore has been playing in AAA with mediocre stats. Jimenez backed up Ramos when Lobaton was out and now he is in AAA.

                          4) June - Traded Josh Thole to Pittsburgh for 2 low rated AA prospects. Depth trade for both teams.

                          5) June - Traded RA Dickey to Texas for OF Josh Hamilton (full contract), SP Chi Chi Gonzalez and utility player Ryan Rua. Dickey has taken over the 5th starter spot and is doing well. Hamilton was batting .196 as mentioned above and is playing 1B in AAA. Chi Chi has had an up and down year and Rua has been great in AA and not so good in a minimal bench role earlier in the year.

                          6) July - Acquired C Andrew Susac from San Fran for a couple prospects. Susac is hitting .186 on the year as a backup, but has nice potential. He filled in nicely batting .276 in the month of June when Martin was out. He was the odd man out in SF.

                          7) All Star Break - Acquired 1B Dan Vogelbach for RP Aaron Loup and a prospect. Loup joins an injury riddled Cubs bullpen for their playoff run. Vogelbach was buried. He mashed AAA in Chicago and was given a shot to play everyday in Canada. He is batting .256 with 1 RBI and 2 doubles thus far.

                          8) All Star Break - Acquired SP Andrew Cashner for OF Dalton Pompey and 2 pitching prospects. Pompey was being pushed by the strong play of Alford and the Jay's really needed a number 2 starter. Cashner is 2-0 with a 2.19 ERA and 25 K's in 3 games for Toronto so far.

                          9) Acquired Charlie Blackmon and D rated C/1B for Mitch Nay and Rowdy Tellez. The Rockies are having a dismal year and are looking to rebuild. Blackmon takes over the LF and lead off spots for Toronto

Overall, it has been a busy year for the new GM, trying to take this team to a championship. There has been a nice mix of adding young players with rentals and even an old bad contract. Next update will address how this years moves will affect the future!

Re: MLB 16 Franchise Progress Thread

The Red Sox enter a series with Toronto after taking two of three from the Indians. David Price dazzled in his debut for the Sox while Craig Kimbrel recorded two saves. A heartbreaking loss to the Indians on a walk off homer from Marlon Byrd on a fastball from Robbie Ross remains the only blemish on the schedule so far.

Looking ahead, the Red Sox are certainly in the market for 1 if not 2 Starters as the season progresses. Joe Kelly has reportedly been placed on the trade block along with Rusney Castillo and Pablo Sandoval. The Sox are also considering putting Kelly in the bullpen if they acquire a front line starter. Chris Sale, Sonny Gray along with the SD trio (Shields, Cashner, Ross) are all guys who could be had in trades.

In an attempt to bolster the bench, the Sox announced the signing of IF Jose Miguel Fernandez. To accompany the move, SS Marco Hernandez was optioned to Triple A.

Joe Kelly takes the mound against the Blue Jays as they open up their second series of the season.

Cardinals move the winning streak to 5 with a 2-1 win over the Diamondbacks in the desert. Garcia was lights out pitching 7 shutout innings allowing only 4 hits, walking one, and striking out 4. Garcia needed a performance like the one tonight as he came into the game with a 5.35 ERA. He would get a no decision.

Cardinals got a scare in the bottom of the first when Johnny Perralta dove for a ball and came up holding his finger. X-Rays were negative and Perralta will only be sidelined for a few days with a sprained finger.

Brandon Moss continues to swing a hot bat as he hit his 2nd homerun in as many games, as he blasted a solo shot in the top of the 9th which was the go ahead and game winning run of the ballgame. Cardinals were concerned earlier about production at first base, but Moss has since negated that worry with his hot bat and surprisingly solid glove play.

John Mozeliak is contemplating a move that would send Matt Adams down to Memphis to work out the kinks of his swing. Adams who missed most of last year with an injury, swung a poor bat during spring training and it hasn't gotten any better during the first 3 weeks of the year. A move of Adams to Memphis would most likely mean a call up for Jeremy Hazelbaker who is hitting .306 in Memphis and would help provide depth to the outfield. Carpenter, Piscotty, and Holliday can all replace Moss at first base when he needs a day off. Decision is said to be made sooner rather than later, as we are getting to the point of the season where fewer days off will lead to more guys needing off days. Also, even though it was tried out in the Spring and was somewhat successful, Mike Matheny has expressed concern using Moss as the 5th outfielder.

                              Stay tuned.
