Re: MLB 16 Franchise Progress Thread

The Jays can't seem to get hot. They win a couple and loose a couple. Sitting at 56-52 on the year, they just received a split against Kansas City in 4 very hard fought competitive games. They sit 1 game back of a wild card sport. However, that spot sees 3 teams tied for for it (Astros, Mariners, Tigers)

They are currently in a 1-1 tie with the Twins. After loosing a late heartbreaker 3-2 in game one they came back with a vengeance winning game two 7-4.

The team signed Michael Bourne to a 1 year deal before the Kansas series. The Jays were looking for speed off of the bench and he was released from the Braves after going .234 with 2 steals before getting injured. Ryan Rua was sent to AAA in a corresponding move as he is only hitting .198 in limited bench action.

Bourne played game 4 of the Kansas series going 1-3 with a home run and a sacrifice bunt. He also stated game 1 of the Twins series, but broke his forearm sliding to 2nd on a SB attempt, which ended that experiment.

The Jays were forced to recall Josh Hamilton from AAA to fill his spot. He has played 6 games at 1B for AAA hitting .212 with 1 homer and no errors. The Jays have their power bats requiring rests after a long patch with no breaks so his bat will be needed short term. In his first game back he went 1-4 with 2 outs being warning track fly outs. He also replaced Encarnacion at 1b for the final 3 innings and looked decent.

The Jays may keep Hamilton up if he produces and roll with him, Almonte, Susac, and Goins off of the bench. If he struggles he will likely head back to AAA. One named linked to the Jays is Evan Gattis. He is buried on that Astros roster and hasn't played much going .234 with 5 HR in limited action this year. His LHB would be a nice compliment to Vogelbach at 1b and has the ability to play LF and C. The Astros were inquiring about SP Miguel Gonzalez. He is currently in AAA with a 2-1/3.58 line. He did well in the big leagues for Toronto in limited action going 1-2 with a 3.89 ERA before the team acquired Andrew Cashner. It was told they offered Gattis and a low level prospect for Gonzalez. The team is reportedly looking to see how Hamilton fares in the next couple of weeks before looking at any potential additions.

Will the Jays finally break out and get back into a wild card spot?? Stay Tuned!

Ouch. Harper hit me pretty good, a couple doubles, but I've always had real good luck against Zimmerman in The Show. I almost ended the game with a HR by my relief pitcher in extras lol. Hit it to the warning track. I ran out of bench players so I had to let him (Cervenka) bat and he nearly ended it!

Finished two games for my two franchises, game 8 of the season for the Sox and opening day for the Cardinals.

Lost 6-3 opening day with the Cardinals against the Pirates. Should have had two more runs at minimum, but Polanco had a cannon out there in right I just had to test. Wainwright didn't look too amazing, but managed 6 innings of 3 run ball. He gave up a shot to Polanco as well. I was excited to use the final boss Oh, down 3-2 in the 7th...he blew it and ended up giving a three run shot to Cutch. Overall a fun game, just need to get used to these arms!

In my Red Sox one I won 8-2 after falling in the previous two. Buchholz has his second decent outing of the year to push him to 2-0 with a 2.37 ERA. Mookie, Xander, Ortiz, Pedroia, and Young all were big players in this one. Young and Panda getting their first starts of the season. Young will start again tomorrow to spell Bradley, as Mookie will move over to center, and Shaw will be returning to third.

Marlins come up short in a heartbreaker against fellow 1st place Reds.

Tillman's slow second half continues as he gives up 4 runs in 6 innings, but the Marlins tied it on a monster Stanton-esque 3-run HR to left-center.

The Reds went back ahead 6-4 against RP Boone Hall, who was called up to fill the lefty reliever void left by the injury to Hessman.

The Marlins made the 9th dramatic as they scored a run and loaded the bases against Chapman. Yelich hit a hard sinking liner to right field but Arcia made a great diving stop to end the game 6-5 in favor of the Reds.

Re: MLB 16 Franchise Progress Thread

Well, the Jays had 2 very good games against the Twins. First, they won 6-5 in extras off a Bautista base hit in the 11th. They were up 5-1 and the bullpen blew it in the 8-9th. However, the Jays squeezed out a nail biter.

In the finale the bats finally came out. They won 10-1. Encarnacion had a 2 HR and 5 RBI night and had 4 homers in the last 3 games. He is putting together quite a year hitting .289 with 29 homers (leads MLB) and 71 RBI (2nd RBI behind Donaldsons 72). He is really looking for that contract extension and the Jays will have to decide if they want to pony up the money or let him walk. The choice is beginning to become easier though if the team decides to chose 1 of EE or Bautista. Bautista is batting .267 with 21 homers and 62 RBI in a decent year as well.

The Jays scored 10 runs for the first time this year! It might have been due to a worn out bullpen, but they will take it. There is now a 4 way tie for the last wild card spot between Toronto, Detroit, Seattle and Houston.

                  Stay tuned!

PS: side note here but what is Dan Vogelbach rated in MLB 16 with the OSFM rosters?? I play 15 with very updated rosters and wanted to see how far they compared. Just looking for contact and power vs right and left if possible.

                    Thanks for this favour!

Re: MLB 16 Franchise Progress Thread

Game 2 of Marlins vs Reds is deja vu.

Once again, the score is 6-5 in the 9th. Once again, Boone Hall coughs up a big home run. Once again, Chapman is in for the save. Once again, the Marlins manage a rally with 2 outs in the 9th.

Bases loaded up for Chris Davis. Chapman tired from working another long inning after working a similar stress-filled inning a night ago. Second pitch from Chapman nails Davis in the back. Fastballs in the back must still hurt even from a tired Chapman, but he took it for the team and the game is tied at 6-6.

Reds move to the bullpen for Webb with Bo Winter with the chance to be a hero.

But Winter won't have to do anything but watch five pitches as he works out the walk-off walk. Marlins win 7-6.

Series finale against Baltimore was...interesting. We won 4-2 on three hits. Mookie walked twice and doubled, Xander now has a 9 game hitting streak in as many games, Ortiz is finally out of his slump with a two run home run and a hit by pitch, Hanley is struggling still, Pedroia moving to the three spot resulted in two RBIs from him. E-Rod gave us 8.2 innings pitch until a late RBI took him out. Kimbrel K's Weiters to end it.

7-2 start, been an interesting beginning. Will play with Cardinals on Friday!

Cardinals get back to winning ways by beating the Buccos 2-1 in Game 1 of a 3 game weekend series. Adam Wainwright pitched admirably but got a no decision as he pitched 7 2/3 innings before being lifted with men on 2nd and 3rd in the 8th. Jonathan Broxton came in to get the final out of the 8th. After a Matt Holliday 2 run homer in the bottom of the inning, Trevor Rosenthal came on to collect his 12th save of the season.

Speaking of Matt Holliday he extended his hitting streak to 12 games with the two run shot in the 8th. Holliday has seen his average increase from .238 to .297 in this 12 game span.

The Cardinals committed three errors in the game, with two of them being my Jeremy Hazelbaker.

Next up its 5-0 Michael Wacha vs 3-3 Gerrit Cole. Cardinals look to expand on their best record and their 5 game lead in the Central.

Re: MLB 16 Franchise Progress Thread

can someone explain how attributes go up and down as the season progresses? it makes zero sense. how is mike trout who is 24, his morale is happy, and is hitting >.300 attributes going down? is it because hes a 99 overall and has nowhere to go but down?

plus how is a player like erisbel arruebarrena expected role a "star?" im assuming its just a glitch because im using osfm 2.2? and why are very young players' roles stars as well? i called up nomar mazara and he got pissed because i was only platooning him. sorry buddy, i got choo, hamilton, deshields, and desmond in the outfield all fighting for spots.

also, is it possible to re-sign players during the season? so if i see a player expects more money than he's making, can i fix that mid-season by offering him a new contract or do i gave to wait until the offseason/when he's a free agent?

the biggest thing for me though is the attributes going down/up randomly. some players morale is angry, yet their attributes are going up, while other players are happy and their attributes are going down.

sorry for the long rant, and im not even sure if this is the right place to put this post. some explanations would be appreciated though. thanks
