    Also, there is no guarantee that the 2nd half of the season goes as well as the first. You could fall flat, start losing games, etc.... That is what happened in my franchise. I was up by 7 games on the Cubs at the All-Star break, and ended up only winning the division by 1 game because we struggled mightily in the 2nd half of the season.

    Keep playing it and if you finish with an amazing record, well then you finish with an amazing record.

    The baseball season is a grind for sure.

    Thank you all for the advice and I will keep playing it. As far as difficulty goes I use the armor and sword sliders and haven't considered dynamic difficulty too much because I find I get a good difficulty level that I like then it goes up or down. I am aware of the slider to stop it from raising but I also need a slider set that compliments dynamic difficulty well.

    I am thinking I will up the pitching difficulty tonight and give that a go though as my pitcher stats are less realistic than I would like.

    Thanks again

      An update on my 2016 Phillies. Since my last post, the Phillies have played 11 games and gone 6-5 in that stretch. Overall the Phillies are still in 1st place in the NL East with a record of 44-27. They have a 7 game lead over the 2nd place Nationals.

      The Phillies took 2 of 3 from the Nationals on the road and then split the 4 game series with the Blue Jays. Both Phillies wins in that Blue Jays series were shutout victories. Game 1 of the series saw Jerad Eickhoff pitch a complete game 2-hit shutout with 1 walk and 11 strikeouts. Game 3 of the series saw Aaron Nola pitch a complete game 5-hit shutout with no walks and 6 strikeouts. Masterful pitching performances.

      Right before the start of the 4 game series at home against the Diamondbacks, the Phillies optioned outfielder David Lough to Triple-A and recalled outfielder Tyler Goeddel. The Phillies split the 4 game series with the Diamondbacks. Diamondbacks third baseman Jake Lamb killed me in the 4 game series going a combined 7-16 with 1 double, 1 home run, 3 RBI and 2 runs scored.

      Top prospect J.P. Crawford has been performing very well since his call up to The Show. In 58 at-bats Crawford is hitting .328 with 3 doubles, 3 home runs and 9 RBI. He has also walked 9 times and stolen 3 bases. His OPS is .955.

      It may be time very soon to call up another top prospect in outfielder Nick Williams. With the exception of Odubel Herrera, the Phillies outfield has been struggling. Peter Bourjos would most likely be the first man to go whether through trade or DFA. He is only hitting .158 with 2 home runs and 7 RBI in 114 at-bats. Jimmy Paredes is another option to go as well. He is only hitting .206 with 6 home runs and 14 RBI in 199 at-bats. Nick Williams isn't tearing it up at Triple-A but the more youth infusion the better. He is hitting .257 with 7 home runs and 22 RBI in 230 at-bats.

      The catching situation has been a disappointment as well. Cameron Rupp is struggling at the plate hitting .235 with 3 home runs and 16 RBI in 166 at-bats. Carlos Ruiz hasn't been much better hitting .222 with no home runs and 5 RBI in 54 at-bats. However, he spent some time on the disabled list recently. As the trade deadline approaches, I may be looking to acquire a catcher if Rupp doesn't start picking it up. Prospect Andrew Knapp could also be an option to be called up as well. Currently in Triple-A he is hitting .304 with 7 home runs and 28 RBI in 191 at-bats. I am looking to trade Ruiz whenever possible.

      If Darin Ruf wasn't performing so well, I would consider bringing up Tommy Joseph from Triple-A. Ruf has absolutely crushed lefties this season with a .389 average. Overall, Ruf is hitting .268 with 11 home runs and 21 RBI in 112 at-bats.

      I can't wait to get Maikel Franco back from the 60-day DL at the end of July.

      The Phillies now hit the road for 9 games against the Twins, Giants and Diamondbacks. Will have another update after the road trip.
      The Phillies are smoking hot heading into the month of July with a 7 game winning streak! The Phillies are now 52-28 on the season and have a 12 game lead on the suddenly scuffling and injury ridden Nationals in the division. The recent 9 game road trip saw the Phillies go 8-1. They took 2 of 3 from the Twins and swept the Giants and Diamondbacks. The Phillies made a few roster moves during the trip as well. Carlos Ruiz and Will Venable were traded to the Chicago Cubs for outfielder Billy McKinney. Catching prospect Andrew Knapp was called up to take Ruiz's spot on the roster as Cameron Rupp's backup. This is a temporary move as the Phillies are searching the trade market for a backup catcher. Michael McKenry is one guy the Phillies have their eye on. He is playing well in the Rangers Triple-A affiliate. Peter Bourjos was also designated for assignment and outrighted to Triple-A. He was hitting an abysmal .151 with 2 home runs and 7 RBI in 56 games. Outfielder Aaron Altherr was recalled and is now the everyday right fielder. So far through 7 games, Altherr is hitting .308 with 3 home runs and 9 RBI. The Phillies have also claimed RHP Phil Klein off waivers from the Rangers.

      The road trip was quite the success. Here were the scores for each game.

      @Minnesota
      W 4-3
      L 5-2
      W 5-2

      @San Francisco
      W 3-1
      W 7-6
      W 11-3

      @Arizona
      W 2-1
      W 11-1
      W 6-5

      The 7-6 win against the Giants was my best win of the season. The Phillies were down 6-1 heading into the 9th inning with Madison Bumgarner still on the mound. Here's what went down in the 9th inning that led to the Phillies mounting a crazy comeback for the victory.

      Darin Ruf walked.
      Cameron Rupp singled to right field.
      Aaron Altherr singled to center field.
      Jimmy Paredes walked. Darin Ruf scores.
      Cody Asche singled to right field. Cameron Rupp scores.
      With Ryan Howard batting, Jimmy Paredes scores on a wild pitch.
      Ryan Howard strikes out.
      Odubel Herrera hits a 3-run home run to right field that put the Phillies ahead 7-6!

      There are now 10 games left until the All-Star break. The Phillies are back home for 3 against the Royals and 3 against the Braves, and then 4 games on the road against the Rockies. I plan to have a mid-season update once the All-Star break arrives.

        Won Game 2 of the NLDS over the Mets 11-5, but we lost Game 3 in New York 8-1. Next up is Game 4 as we try to advance to the NLCS.

            How do you guys attack the gm contract aspect of the game? I like the idea of gm contracts but it feels like I never get offered my job back since I sim a lot even if my gm rating is an A. I hope the work on it next year, in my opinion nas football 14 had the best idea when it comes to coaches/gm contracts.

              I never like things like this. GMs can stay with teams even if they struggle or have some down years.

              If I go through a retooling with my Marlins, why would I be in jeopardy of being fired after the way the team has succeeded over the years?

              I regret leaving it on in my Marlins franchise (though I hear carryovers get it turned on anyway), and am glad I turned it off in my new MLB16 franchise.

                Re: MLB 16 Franchise Progress Thread

                Let the good times roll! This Phillies team is on fire! Just had yet another come from behind win against the Royals at home to push the winning streak to 9 straight games! 54-28 on the season with a 14 game lead over the injury ridden Nationals. I seriously did not expect to have a season like this.

                I was being shut down by Yordano Ventura the whole game. He stays in for the 8th inning in a 2-0 game and here is what happened.

                Andres Blanco hit by a pitch to start the inning.
                Odubel Herrera hit a game tying 2-run home run to right field for his 14th.

                Yordano Ventura is lifted for lefty Brian Flynn.
                J.P. Crawford hits a solo home run to right field on the first pitch.

                Kris Medlen enters the game from the bullpen.
                Aaron Altherr grounded out.
                Ryan Howard singled.
                Cameron Rupp hits a 2-run home run to left field.

                Jeanmar Gomez comes in for the 9th and locks it down for his 29th save!

                Odubel Herrera has been so clutch this season. Especially over the last 7 games where he has 4 home runs and 10 RBI.

                Season has been a blast.

                  I agree with you 100% that's it's frustrating when you are retooling. I feel like 1 bad year means you can't re-sign no matter what. I like that it gives me the ability to play with different teams throughout a franchise that way I can compete in different divisions but I shouldn't get fired if I struggle year one and the succeed in years two and three.

                    Re: MLB 16 Franchise Progress Thread

                    Hi guys. So, I started a 30-team control chise. At the end of the season right now, my Stros lost to the Cubs, no trades either. Anyway, I'm trying to place FAs. Here is what I was thinking;

                    Cespedes - Blue Jays, Phillies, Mariners
                    Edwin- Blue Jays, Mariners, Mets
                    Batista- Phillies, Red Sox, Indians
                    Gomez- Mets, Phillies, Nationals

                    I wanted to keep it at a 3 team idea. Let me know if you think other teams. I tried to go with the best budget also. Gomez did accept his QO too.

                    Also, trades;
                    Does Carlos Gonzalez get traded and to who?
                    Puig where?
                    Longo?
                    Archer?

                    I'm open to hearing all ideas to take into account. I think I might just let the computer make some decisions on their own when I start 2017.

                      Decided to start a Rangers Franchise with the post trade deadline rosters. I pretty much simmed the first season and finished with a record of 89-73. The big trades that happened were Khris Davis leaving Oakland for the Yankees.The Yankees gave up Didi Gregorius Aaron Hicks & Giovanny Gallegos. Eric Hosmer was traded from the Royals for Henry Owings & Ozhaino Albes. The Nationals called up Lucas Giolito in June as well as Trea Turner. The season ended with Boston & Cleveland in the AL Wildcard & the Dodgers & Pirates in the other. The Indians beat Boston 8-3 while the Pirates won 6-0 over the Dodgers.The Rangers were tossed from the ALDS by the Tigers 3-2 while the Jays were also tossed by the Indians 3-2 as well. The NLDS saw the Nationals face the Giants as the Giants won the series 3-1. The other series saw the Cubs versus the Pirates as the Cubs won the series 3-1 as well.The ALCS & NLCS were now set as the Giants & Cubs would meet while the Indians would face the Tigers. The Cubs won the NLCS 4-3 over the Giants. The Indians would beat the Tigers 4-2 in there series setting up a World Series with the Indians & Cubs facing off. The Indians would beat the Cubs 4-2 and claim the World Series for the city of Cleveland. David Ortiz Koji Uehara RA Dickey Jason Grilli AJ Pierzinski Joe Nathan Ichiro David Ross Adam Wainwright & Bartolo Colon all retired at seasons end.

                        Re: MLB 16 Franchise Progress Thread

                        After about 100 games trying to dial in the game this year, I finally got my franchise started with the Rangers. I ended up landing on all-star hitting and legend pitching with several slider adjustments.

                        My season did not start out good as Darvish went 1 1/3 innings and dislocated his shoulder and now resides on the 60 day DL.
                        Profar broke his shin in game 3 and has also landed on the 60 day DL.

                        After 10 games the Rangers are 1-9 and have a firm grip on the cellar.
                        6 of the 9 losses have been by 1 run. 2 of the losses was by 2 runs and the other one was by 4 runs. Three of the games went into extra innings (12, 16 and 17 innings) and my bullpen is running on fumes.

                        The team stats are Ave. 259. HR 12. ERA 3.89
                        Beltran leads the team with 3 HR, Desmond is batting .385, Andrus 2 SB. Lewis has the only win with a 2.45 ERA.

                        Headed back to Arlington to start a series with the Orioles.

                          I'll take a crack at this!

                          Cespedes should stay with the Mets, I know that isn't one of your choices, but my opinion. But for your franchise out of those teams, Philly doesn't make sense, Toronto has the obvious opening, and Seattle could use one more mega bat. Bidding war goes down, and the Mariners come out on top.

                          Edwin Encarnacion stays in Toronto after the Jays fail to sign Cespedes to a pretty juicy contract.

                          Jose Bautista jets to Boston to take over Ortiz's DH role.

                          Carlos Gomez return to the Mets or join Harper in DC...hmmm. I say if Cespedes returns to the Mets, Gomez to DC, if Cespedes leaves, New York.

                          Carlos Gonzalez ideas. Seattle (if no Cespedes), Mets (if no Cespedes, nor Gomez), Nationals (if no Gomez), Red Sox, Blue Jays, Orioles...have fun!

                          Yasiel Puig to any of the teams above and any team in need of an outfielder. I would say Braves, but they are a smidge overloaded with Kemp...if Kemp isn't on them in your game, well there you go.

                          Evan Longoria stays put, unless dealt with Archer to the Dodgers. Move Turner to 2B.

                          Archer, look above...he'll be a Dodger me thinks. Nationals could make a run, as could any team with a very deep system.

                            I have Prince Fielder still under contact but I also have Joey Gallo at first as well. I'm wondering which I should look to deal? I also have Mitch Moreland as well. I just don't know what to do about Fielder & Gallo. Gallo signed a two year deal & I have Prince for three more years.

                              Fielder's contract will make him extremely difficult to move.

                                So should I try to trade Gallo and if so what would be fair?
