A middle infielder would be mostly just for depth in the farm system after Swanson and Albies get promoted. Gettys is intriguing with his powerful arm, good speed, and decent power. Hes ranked as the Padres #10 prospect according to mlb.com though so don't know if that seems like a bit too much to take from the Padres for Markakis.

Jim Johnson could either go to Miami or I could bundle him with Markakis to the Padres. Both are in need with the Marlins being in desperate need of a solid reliever, while the Padres could use an upgrade from a couple struggling relievers.

For Infante I was looking at maybe Kyle Farmer (C/3B) from the Dodgers. Currently ranked at #24 in the Dodgers farm system. Would give me a decent catching prospect to replace Pierzynski / Tyler Flowers with soon.

    What you guys think?
Infante deal sounds good. For Markakis, sounds close. I know you want to go by your franchise and all but they really seem like a fluke. To be safe, I would package Johnson and take back another prospect (Nick Torres or Enyel De Los Santos)

Can someone explain how the waiver system works? Just passed the trade deadline in my franchise & a bunch of teams put players on either waivers or something of that sort. How does this work? Why do these players get placed on this? And why would someone like Mark Melancon who was a 2016 all star get placed on them?

      Thanks~

        Those are (probably) trade waivers.

Once past July 31, a player on the ML/40-man roster can be traded only after passing through trade waivers. These waivers are revokable so there's no real risk to putting them on (in the game at least), you can just pull them back.

They are the trade waivers. You can place anyone you want on there but teams usually place players who have high salary contracts or guys they didn't get to dea at the non waiver trade deadline.

So after seeing what Gomez is doing in real
Life and how he was designated for assignment, I am thinking about bringing him in. I have been looking for a veteran OF to bring in to add some veteran leadership to my team which is very young. I was looking at Upton Jr as one possibility but I believe Gomez could come here. He would be a rental as he is a FA at years end so I would really have to think about it. I was also looking at Khris Davis but he was just dealt to the Blue Jays in my franchise for Pompey and prospects.

As other guys already mentioned that is called trade waivers...It just means that a player cannot be traded unless he passes through waivers. If he is claimed by another team, those teams can try and work out a deal, or the player's current team can pull him back (which is why they are also called "revocable waivers").

I honestly don't even know where to start! In real life, the package would most likely be small. In my season Gomez is hitting

                  G 78 AB 327 R 46 H 88 HR 12 RBI 42 SB 17 AVG .269 OBP .322 SLG .443 OPS .765 WAR 2.19

So he is playing better than his real life counterpart. My #1 goal is still to add a solid catcher and Mesoraco is finally called up so i may pull that deal soon. The only problem was Kohl Stewart who was suppose to be involved with the deal got hurt.

Pretty sure you can trade players who are injured in this year's game. As long as Stewart's injury wasn't something major like elbow surgery or anything it wouldn't really affect his value much

I haven't tried but the Blue Jays just traded Pompey, Quinn ad another prospect for Khris Davis and it looks like Pompey was hurt in Triple-A

So I can't trade Stewart as I guess his injury is too severe. He had a fractured wrist so he needed surgery and is on DL. It wouldn't have mattered anyway since Mesoraco got hurt again!!! Dude played 6 games in triple-A since coming off the D.L. and got hurt lol. So now I am shifting my focus to the second to last place Diamondbacks and Welington Castillo. He actually isn't even starting right now as Oscar Hernandez is and it seems I can get him very easily. I am looking at a package of Fernando Romero and Wander Javier.

I have looked at Chirinos but the rangers are fighting for the Wild card spot and I doubt they would trade their starting catcher to me.

I think you or someone else mentioned trying to trade Suzuki. He just cleared waivers in real life if that gives everyone an idea of his trade value. No team decided it was worth it to take on his like $1 million remaining for the season

Yea he was placed on trade waivers so the good thing is now that he passed through, he can be traded to any team instead of just the team who claimed him. Buster Olney stated that the Mets were heavy favorites to deal for Suzuki once he cleared waivers. My plan was to trade for mesoraco once he got off DL and i waited to long as he got hurt again...so now I will lose out on that deal. I shifted my focus toward Castilo of the Damondbacks since they are tied for last place. What I will do is trade for Castilo and send down John Ryan Murphy and keep Suzuki on my roster and hopefully he gets dealt before I pass the deadline so I can shadow the move. if not I will just do the same thing the Twins did in real life and place him on trade waivers and the CPU will surely claim him because of his rating (81) and I will deal him then.
