Re: Official MLB The Show 16 Fantasy Draft Franchise Progress Thread

Never take a starter in the first round. The bat is way more impactful and harder to get if you're not stacking with A prospects. Unless, of course, you're picking 25+ and you'll get the bat second but even then likely bat first. LH at that, too. LH power is harder to find.

Guys like Brock Holt are worth more to NL teams for double switching and a good LH bat.

Your prospective DH should play at least 2 positions to rotate through it.

Durability is underrated. Josh Hamilton in '12 was basically only a DH with his 50-60 there. If a guy doesn't have 80+ durability, he can't generally play for me.

Just finished drafting my Brewers franchise. First time that I drafted every single player on my roster (MLB, AAA, AA, and A). I had the #7 pick. What you guys think

Was thinking the same thing. But I usually play every game and will not make it past the first season.

Re: Official MLB The Show 16 Fantasy Draft Franchise Progress Thread

I swear I have an addiction to fantasy drafts...sometimes I find myself doing them and then not even playing with the team.

Just some tips for you guys who don't do them as often..you can really wait on the veterans at first base especially. The Big Papi/Pujols guys stay around pretty long.

I also have a house rule of making only one trade because it's too easy to pile up top prospects and get whoever you want. My best draft went something like this..I don't have the team right in front of me.

1st 3 picks in this order:

              Machado
              Cano
              Kris Bryant

After that I will usually pick two starters that are young and rated in the mid 80s. Guys like Wacha/Pineda.

Knowing that I don't have top of the line starters, I always grab Betances and Uehara for my 7th/8th inning, and then I'll get a decent closer that's a bit older like Rodney.

I picked toward the middle of the first round and drafted a team like this:

              Machado
              Bryant
              Franco
              Cano
Platoon of older DH's/1b (Pedro Alvarez/Cris Carter types)
              Joc Pederson
              Platoon Catcher (Think Ruiz/Jason Castro)
              Jackie Bradley Jr

Just a personal preference, but I like having my best hitters in the 1,2,4 spots in the lineup so that's why the lineup looks like the way it does.

Re: Official MLB The Show 16 Fantasy Draft Franchise Progress Thread

Hey guys I've been lurking for the longest time but finally decided to make an account the other day. I'll be doing my Brewers (hometown team) fantasy draft tonight as well, although I only draft through the 25th round. I normally struggle with the decision between drafting that ace or the hitter.

One other thing I noticed with fantasy drafts in 16 is that there doesn't seem to be as much depth overall compared to doing a fantasy draft in 15.

Maybe I'll post pics of my rotation and lineup once complete. Hoping for a top 10 pick!!!

I love doing fantasy drafts but I wish I didn't have to do 30 team control in order to do it cuz if u don't then the computer ai only ends up having 2 bench guys and 14 pitchers on the MLS roster. Very annoying.

Yea that is unfortunate. I just live with it and only pick for my team.

Just played my first game with the Cubs and had the greatest hitting game with a player I've ever used. Kyle Schwarber went 5 for 5 with 4 RBI's, 3 home runs, a single, and a double. Jake Arrieta blew the shutout with 120 pitches in the 9th and gave up a run but great game for me.

So I downloaded a roster that has all the salaries corrected and decided to do a fantasy draft. After the draft was over I noticed the game changed the salaries. For example Pablo Sandavol went from a $17 million player to a $3.4 million. That does not make sense to me.
