Re: Official MLB The Show 16 Fantasy Draft Franchise Progress Thread

I held my Marlins Fantasy single team franchise draft.

It was getting really late so I did 40 rounds myself and simmed the rest. No way I could draft every single player for my 90 man roster.....my eyes were bleeding.

But doing that did not allow me to review the round and pick. So when I post my franchise here it will just show my 40 man roster.

Needless to say I had the 18th overall pick and to my delight Giancarlo Stanton fell to me. So he get's to be the corner piece again for the Miami Marlins along with Starling Marte and Francisco Lindor. My pitching is solid, actually very solid. But no true legit staff ace. But a collection of young A and B pitchers. I took some fantastic prospects (I used the 150 prospect roster in the vault which is actually a very solid roster if your looking to start now before OSFM).

    Miami Marlins 18th Overall Pick

C - Robinson Chirinos - Good defensive C with some 18-20 HR potential
    1B - Greg Bird - A nice 1B with upside
2B - Brock Holt (1B,3B,SS,OF) - A valuable "Johnny on the Spot" player
3B - Joey Gallo (LF,CF) - This kid is an "A" potential stud
SS - Francisco Lindor - I love Lindor and he will be a fixture
    LF - Starling Marte (CF,RF) - 5 tool stud
CF - Delino DeShields Jr - Great speed, defense. I just need him to hit
RF - Giancarlo Stanton - Franchise player

    Bench

    C - J.T Realmuto - a very good platoon C (will play vs Lefties)
2B/3B/LF, RF - Steve Lombardozzi - A savvay ultity vet
3B/1B - David Freese - In case the Gallo struggles we have a vet to fill in
CF - Byron Buxton (LF,RF) - Oh yes a juicy upside prospect as well
DH - Ichiro Suzuki (LF,CF) - One more year...one more year....one more year

    Rotation

SP -Michael Wacha - Health is a concern, but his stuff is not
SP -Shelby Miller - an innings horse when healthy
SP -Aaron Nola - love his potential
SP -Steven Matz - another young buck
SP -Jason Hammel - solid if unspectacular with upside to surprise

    Bullpen

    LRP - Harold Reeder
    MRP - Jason Motte
    MRP - Daniel Hudson
    MRP - Blake Treinen
SU - Fernando Rodney - a vet just in case
SU - Kevin Siegrist - nasty
CP - Dellin Betances - Slam the door closer

    Rest of 40 Man

SP - Jason Vargas - injury depth at SP
    SP - Aaron Blair
    SP - Martin Acosta
1B - Jon Singleton - Could be useful
    RP - Joe Blanton
    CF - Larry Lemon
    RP - Bruce Rondon
    SS - Kurt Wells
    SS - Deven Marrero
    C - Steve Baron
    C - I. Murakami
    LF - Jimmy Lundy

I have two rosters spots open so looking for a couple of free agents or a trade for a lefty RP or two.

Re: Official MLB The Show 16 Fantasy Draft Franchise Progress Thread

I'm carrying over my '15 D-backs fantasy draft team (if you prefer this thread to just be '16 drafts, let me know).

      SP
      Zack Greinke
      Shelby Miller
      Noah Syndergaard
      Chris Heston
      Eduardo Rodriguez

      Lineup
      C Alex Avila
      1B Pedro Alvarez
      2B DJ LeMahieu
      SS Jose Iglesias
      3B Joey Gallo
      LF Brady Matthews
      CF Joc Pederson
      RF Curtis Granderson

      Bench
      Wil Myers (OF)
      Ryan Brett (2B)
      Martin Maldonado (C)
      Oswaldo Arcia (OF)

      Relievers
      Chris Young
      Dan Jennings
      Yoervis Medina
      Miguel Castro
      Wesley Wright
      Dellin Betances
      Ernesto Frieri
      Ken Giles

Strategy was to start with an ace and go young for everything else. I played all of Greinke's 2015 starts (simming the rest) and I'm in the off-season coming off a WS win (likely because I had the difficulty too low). I'm thinking about going after FA Matt Wieters for C and trading Greinke/Alvarez for Goldschmidt.

My plan for 2016 is to play all of my 2015 #1 draft pick's plays. I picked up A potential 56 OVR LF Terrence Hughes with the #1 pick. He'll be leading off in AA.

Re: Official MLB The Show 16 Fantasy Draft Franchise Progress Thread

I've just kicked off my fantasy draft using the SCEA rosters as Baltimore.
My first pick (#11) was Manny Machado

I'm going to go a different route to what i normally do which is go after youth almost exclusively whilst taking an initial hit to the quality by taking the morale system into account.
I'm not going to draft 2 pitchers that expect to be an "Ace" and build my team around whether i will be able to accommodate the players also if players from the west coast actively want to be close to home, i'm going to being a little colder on them too.
I have a perfect example right now in round 2 with Strasburg ideally wanting to be closer to California.

Re: Official MLB The Show 16 Fantasy Draft Franchise Progress Thread

I ended up simulating the rest of the draft after the 30th pick because otherwise i would have been comparing prospects for the next month.

This is probably the happiest i have been with a team going through fantasy draft not because it is stacked but simply because it is by far and away the best fit to how i like to play. Some picks were made such as Ichiro that could have been better but gotta get him to #3000.

            Baltimore Orioles 11th Overall Pick

C - A.J Pierzynski (DH) - Solid guy with potential decent OBP
1B - Ben Paulsen (LF) - Reliable contact guy
2B - Brock Holt (1B,3B,SS,OF) - Ever improving guy that can play anywhere
            3B - Manny Machado (3B) - Franchise player
SS - Francisco Lindor - Left side of the infield is set for years
LF - Michael Conforto (OF) - Young guy, B potential
CF - Kevin Pillar (OF) - Great fielding CF'er
RF - Miguel Sano (LF, 3B) - Perfect compliment to Machado, fielding may lack
DH - Victor Martinez (1B) - Solid vet who can hit for power

            Bench

            C - Blake Swihart - B potential, possible platoon
SS - Christian Colon (2B, 3B) - Solid late innings and off day guy
RF - Avisail Garcia (OF) - Good arm, will probably platoon initially
DH - Ichiro Suzuki (OF) - He will get #3000

            Rotation

SP - Patrick Corbin - Health is a concern, but his stuff is not
SP - Raisel Iglesias - an innings horse when healthy
SP - Carlos Rodon - love his potential
SP - Trevor Bauer - another young buck
SP - Jon Gray - solid if unspectacular with upside to surprise

            Bullpen

LRP - Robbie Erlin - Potential #5 pending performance
MRP - Tyler Clippard - Great for 7th/8th inning
MRP - Dominic Leone - Young, good upside
MRP - Brandon Maurer - Solid young guy
SU - Fernando Rodney - Vet who could be valuable
SU - Kevin Siegrist - Great Setup guy
CP - Dellin Betances - Potentially leagues best

Anyone gonna do a Fantasy draft with all time legends teams? Every team will be a dog fight. Very competitive. Now that Dr Sublime has ported over his legends..time to put the roster together.

That would be a great one season type of league. Just draft a team...play a short season (I think 40 games you can do or whatever it is before the 81 game option).

                    Do it again and again.

Re: Official MLB The Show 16 Fantasy Draft Franchise Progress Thread

I'm trying to plan an upcoming experimental fantasy draft. I want to do a Colorado franchise and draft a 1B and 3B with power, all somewhat speedy and defensive OF and not sure about the middle infield yet. Then I think I'm going to stock up on three RPs in the 7-8-9 rounds. Ideally my starting pitchers would be like Aaron Sanchez, Nola, Shelby Miller. Somewhere in that middle to low 80 range for the first half of the rotation.

I think it would be interesting to see if I could have enough offense to get a lead and a dominant bullpen to shut things down after 5 innings or so.

I just did a fantasy draft last night. Had a lot of fun doing it. A few players were players I traded for post draft (will indicate those players).

                            Rotation
                            1. Noah Syndergaard (2nd Round)
                            2. Marcus Stroman (Trade)
                            3. Shelby Miller
                            4. Carlos Rodon
                            5. Matt Wisler

                            Bullpen
                            LRP - Rafael Montero
                            MRP - Kevin Siegrist
                            MRP - Arodys Vizcaino
                            MRP - Keone Kela
                            SU - Justin Wilson (Trade)
                            SU - Pedro Baez (Trade)
                            CL - Dellin Betances

                            Starting Lineup
                            C - Salvador Perez
                            1B - Jose Abreu (Trade)
                            2B - Joe Panik (Trade)
                            3B - Nolan Arenado (1st Round)
SS - Corey Seager (3rd Round I think)
                            LF - Billy Burns
                            CF - Juan Lagares (Trade)
                            RF - Byron Buxton
                            DH - Kyle Schwarber

                            Bench
                            C - Gary Sanchez
                            1B - Mark Canha [3B/LF]
                            2B - Jose Peraza [SS/CF]
                            2B - Brock Holt [1B/3B/SS/LF/CF/RF]

Making trades to improve the fantasy team is probably kind of cheap, but the trades felt fair.
MLB: Pittsburgh Pirates, Boston Red Sox
                            NFL: Pittsburgh Steelers, Seattle Seahawks
NHL: Pittsburgh Penguins, St. Louis Blues
NBA: Oklahoma City Thunder, Golden State Warriors

Hey guys, just ran a fantasy draft with the Diamondbacks. Any feedback on my team? I put the DH on for everywhere because why not.

                              Pick 18

                              Rotation:
Jacob DeGrom (Round 1) (Star Cy-Young quality guy)
Lance McCullers (Round 4) (Young gun and rising star nearing elite level)
Carlos Rodon (Round 8) (Rising Star)
Zach Wheeler (Round 13) (Very quality pitcher)
CC Sabathia (Round 21) (Took a chance on him late. Isn't a bad pitcher and there are minor league options in case he doesn't pan out)

                              Bullpen:
Drew Storen (Round 7) (Good closer)
Nate Jones (Round 9) (Hard throwing righty)
Kevin Siegrist (Round 14) (Hard throwing lefty)
Luis Avilan (Round 16) (Quality guy capable of replacing the top two in case of injury or struggles)
Yoervis Medina (Round 18) (Solid option)
Randall Delgado (Round 23) (Can throw 2 or 3 innings if I need him to)
Trevor Cahill (Round 24) (Spot starter in case and can give me 3+ innings)

                              Lineup:
Starling Marte (Round 2) (Stud 5 tool guy)
Jose Abreu (Round 3) (Great bad, above average fielder as well)
Alcides Escobar (Round 5) (Fast contact guy who can field)
Josh Harrison (Round 6) (Good contact infielder who can play 3rd as well)
Kyle Schwarber (Round 10) (Catcher for us, brings power and decent defense)
Joey Gallo (Round 11) (Above average power, loads of potential)
Kike Hernandez (Round 12) (Fast and contact outfielder who can also play like everywhere else)
Rusney Castillo (Round 15) (Good Hitter and has a cannon)

                              Bench:
Danny Santana (Round 17) (Can play infield and outfield, great contact hitter)
Ichiro Suzuki (Round 20) (Great defensive option and gives me a 4th outfielder who can play for a year)
Christian Colon (Round 25) (Can play infield, good hitter and good defense)
AJ Pierzynski (Round 27) (DH and backup catcher, will be a good 1 year option and was a good value pick)
Arismandy Alancantra (Round 29) (Plays everywhere)

                              Minor Leaguers:
                              Henry Owens (Round 19)
Luis Trejo (Round 22) (Top 50 Prospect, Catcher)
                              Justin Nicolino (Round 26)
Neftali Feliz (Round 30) (Bullpen Depth)
                              Jon Singleton (Round 27)

Do I also post updates as I progress through the season or is this draft only?

Baseball: Chicago White Sox, Pittsburgh Pirates
                              Basketball: Chicago Bulls
                              Football: Chicago Bears

Yes I also have an addiction with fantasy drafts. Whether it's madden, nhl, or mlb. I often spend 30 min to an hour drafting, just to not play a single game. Lol
