Re: Official MLB The Show 16 Fantasy Draft Franchise Progress Thread
Hey guys, just ran a fantasy draft with the Diamondbacks. Any feedback on my team? I put the DH on for everywhere because why not.
Pick 18
Rotation:
Jacob DeGrom (Round 1) (Star Cy-Young quality guy)
Lance McCullers (Round 4) (Young gun and rising star nearing elite level)
Carlos Rodon (Round 8) (Rising Star)
Zach Wheeler (Round 13) (Very quality pitcher)
CC Sabathia (Round 21) (Took a chance on him late. Isn't a bad pitcher and there are minor league options in case he doesn't pan out)
Bullpen:
Drew Storen (Round 7) (Good closer)
Nate Jones (Round 9) (Hard throwing righty)
Kevin Siegrist (Round 14) (Hard throwing lefty)
Luis Avilan (Round 16) (Quality guy capable of replacing the top two in case of injury or struggles)
Yoervis Medina (Round 18) (Solid option)
Randall Delgado (Round 23) (Can throw 2 or 3 innings if I need him to)
Trevor Cahill (Round 24) (Spot starter in case and can give me 3+ innings)
Lineup:
Starling Marte (Round 2) (Stud 5 tool guy)
Jose Abreu (Round 3) (Great bad, above average fielder as well)
Alcides Escobar (Round 5) (Fast contact guy who can field)
Josh Harrison (Round 6) (Good contact infielder who can play 3rd as well)
Kyle Schwarber (Round 10) (Catcher for us, brings power and decent defense)
Joey Gallo (Round 11) (Above average power, loads of potential)
Kike Hernandez (Round 12) (Fast and contact outfielder who can also play like everywhere else)
Rusney Castillo (Round 15) (Good Hitter and has a cannon)
Bench:
Danny Santana (Round 17) (Can play infield and outfield, great contact hitter)
Ichiro Suzuki (Round 20) (Great defensive option and gives me a 4th outfielder who can play for a year)
Christian Colon (Round 25) (Can play infield, good hitter and good defense)
AJ Pierzynski (Round 27) (DH and backup catcher, will be a good 1 year option and was a good value pick)
Arismandy Alancantra (Round 29) (Plays everywhere)
Minor Leaguers:
Henry Owens (Round 19)
Luis Trejo (Round 22) (Top 50 Prospect, Catcher)
Justin Nicolino (Round 26)
Neftali Feliz (Round 30) (Bullpen Depth)
Jon Singleton (Round 27)
Do I also post updates as I progress through the season or is this draft only?

Anyone else notice when using a roster with real salaries that after the draft the system changes the salaries?? Why is this?Comment

Re: Official MLB The Show 16 Fantasy Draft Franchise Progress Thread
I did a fantasy drafted season instead of a franchise.. I don't want to be too investedthis is just a holdover until OsFM drops.. I chose the Braves as somewhat of a tribute to Turner Field. One thing: It's unfortunate that drafting certain players results in an instant overall drop of anywhere from 1-5 points. But anywho..

Re: Official MLB The Show 16 Fantasy Draft Franchise Progress Thread
Hello,
I've been reading these forums for quite some time, and using os rosters for two years now (absolute necessity for me!) Just made an account, mainly due to this thread. I am going to do a full 90 man draft this evening and posting the 25 picks and notable prospects. Stuck on who to be, the Reds or the Pirates? Good luck to everyone this year!MLB The Show 20

Re: Official MLB The Show 16 Fantasy Draft Franchise Progress Thread
After that is decided I tend to try to build up the middle first and foremost. CF, SS, 2B and Catcher are critical to being successful and making your pitching staff even stronger than it may appear on paper.
Love your write up. Why do you consider drafting a catcher so important? In real life, completely understand the value. In the show however, I dont see any value at all.Comment

Re: Official MLB The Show 16 Fantasy Draft Franchise Progress Thread
I just started a Fantasy Draft with the Minnesota Twins, 23rd pick overall (about to pick in the 23rd round). I'm very pleased with the results so far, mostly because I tend to overlook my bullpen and C.
However, this time I really made sure it wouldn't be the case. Thing is, I don't want to screw this up. So if you have any input as to what I should do / focus on next, it would be greatly appreciated.
Here's the team so far...
ROSTER: Top400Prospects
Rotation
RHP - Noah Syndergaard (Round 2)
LHP - Gio Gonzalez (Round 7)
RHP - Aaron Nola (Round 6)
RHP - Matt Wisler (Round 15)
LHP - Julio Urias (Round 16)
Bullpen
LHP - Kyle Crockett (Round 21)
LHP -
RHP - Jenrry Mejia (Round 20)
RHP - Ryan Cook (Round 14)
RHP - Yimi Garcia (Round 9)
SU - Kelvin Herrera (Round 8)
CP - Arodys Vizcaino (Round 13)
Starting Line-Up
C - Salvador Perez (Round 5)
1B - Freddie Freeman (Round 4)
2B - Yoan Moncada (Round 12)
3B - Nolan Arenado (Round 1)
SS - Corey Seager (Round 3)
LF - Wil Myers (Round 11)
CF - Jackie Bradley Jr. (Round 10)
RF - Nomar Mazara (Round 22)
Bench
PH - Byron Buxton (Round 17)
Key Minor Leaguers
RHP - Alex Reyes (Round 18)
SS - Dansby Swanson (Round 19)
I intend to platoon Bradley and Buxton at CF.
Now, ideally I'd like to add a starting pitcher to my rotation, so that Urias could be sent in the minors at least for a year. Matt Garza and Trevor May seems to be the best fit available right now for that.
2B is also a position of concern, as I'd be much more confortable using Moncada from the bench. Will probably have to settle for a defensively reliable 2B at this point in the draft, best choices seems to be Christian Colon, Ruben Tejada, Donovan Solano, Luis Sardinas
Finally, an outfielder is needed, as I intend to platoon Bradley Jr. and Buxton at CF, and not quite sure Mazara is ready to play that much. There's not much left in terms of quality outfielder though. Right now, I'm leaning towards Dalton Pompey, who looks a lot better defensively, while providing speed.
So, any input ? Any suggestion on who I should be looking at that deep in the draft ? Thanks.Last edited by KomicJ; 04-17-2016, 01:57 PM.Comment

Re: Official MLB The Show 16 Fantasy Draft Franchise Progress Thread
So, I haven't done this yet because I don't have this year's game yet. (I just ordered a ps4 and the game on Amazon. Pretty much getting ps4 for the show.)
I had a really fun idea for a fantasy draft franchise and I tried a version of it in last year's game. Basically this is the idea: build my team with the best 9 or 10 pitchers I can get, regardless of starters or relievers, and very versatile position players. Have an NL team without the DH and rarely, if ever, let a pitcher hit. This means that each pitcher will pitch pretty often, but only ever pitch 1-3 innings at a time. The "starter" will never get a win. I'll probably have lots of holds and a decent amount of saves. A lot of double switches. The whole mentality is maximizing ABs. Players like Sam Fuld would be much more valuable on a team like this being able to come in late most games and steal a base/play strong defense. I can stack the team so that three or four pitchers end up getting the bulk of the wins, which could be very interesting. Most position players would end up playing every game. I can make great use of platoon players.
The only problem I ran into in my "test" from last year's game was anytime I warmed up a starter and brought him in (even when I have him in the bullpen and not rotation) his energy level is at about 75%. I'm wondering if I need to edit all pitchers to be relievers to fix this.
I know this is a different way to play baseball, but it seems like it could be a fun experiment. Anyone have any comments or ideas/strategies for drafting and running a team like this? I definitely want to target players like Kyle schwarber or buster posey who can catch and play in the field. Players who can play both the infield and outfield are also helpful. Ben zobrist. Josh harrison. I'm also not opposed to editing some players positions as long as it's reasonable, such as Carlos correa adding 3B as a secondary position. Not gonna make Papi an outfielder though. I'd like to avoid the older DHs who really don't play the field in real life. I look forward to hearing what people think of this!Comment

Re: Official MLB The Show 16 Fantasy Draft Franchise Progress Thread
I started a fantasy draft franchise right when the game came out but I'll be deleting that one and starting anew when the OSFM rosters drop. I'll make sure to check back and post my roster. Can't wait.Comment
