A meeting between the coach, gm and owner has identified the 2 main concerns of the club to be veteran ml depth and bullpen.

      Man, 20-5.

I'd be lucky to not be 6-20 at this rate lol.

Somebody has to be on the bottom I guess

Most of it is due to luck, and gray/Hamels/Richards. Greg bird has won me a few for sure loses in the 8th and the 9th. My luck will run out I'm sure.

FYI there will be no free agent additions, nothing worth it. Bartolo colon, ra dickey, Bronson arroyo, ichiro and two 500 year old rp's.

Roughest part about fantasy drafting...no depth to sign off the street. Anyone of any value is taken.

You get pummeled with injuries or just bad progression or horribly play...and your hands are tied short of trades unless you were able to draft depth.

Yeah my current plan is to make 2 trades after late May timeframe. John Danks, and James jones. Both are dependent upon the progress of Henry Owens (who's doing great) and Brett Phillips (who is not doing so great)

Sonny gray pitched another gem. 7ip 6k 4h and 2r scored off a 1st inning hr curtesy of Matt carpenter. Drew Stubbs hit his first hr of the year starting in place of Khris Davis, a solo shot in the first inning. Todd Frazier entered the game 8-43 (.186) in his last 10 games, and responded in a big way going 3-4 with a hr and 2 rbis. The hr came after Alvarez gave up the go ahead run in the 8th to tie the game. Alvarez set down the side to start the ninth. Kelby Tomlinson (starting in place of the injured Trevor story) hit a 1 out single in the bottom of the ninth for his 2nd hit of the evening. Ryan Raburn pinch hits for Alvarez, and deposits the first pitch into the upper deck in left field for the walk off hr. Reds win 5-3 to open the home stand.

(Aaron crow (rp) called up, Michael Tonkin sent down)

April ends perhaps in a fitting way - getting almost 1-hit and then almost CG'd by Wainwright.

The Rockies finally chased him after 117 pitches, mustering just 4 hits and 1 run against him.

The Rockies got the tying run to the plate in Joc Pederson. Pederson hit a HR earlier in the game and a blast here would give the Rockies the lead.

But it was not to be. Zach Britton came in to shut the door by striking out Pederson to end the game.

The Rockies stumble to a 9-15 record in April. It's going to be a very long year at this rate.

                            K: T-7th

                            The Good:
                            • Ichiro is off to a torrid start, batting .375 for the month.
                            • Harper had a solid April, posting a line of .275/.371/.536 so far.
                            • Aaron Sanchez is leading the staff with a 1.93 ERA.
                            • Chi Chi Gonzalez has been a nice surprise with a 2.86 ERA from the #5 spot in the rotation.
                            • Coleman, Shreve, and Knebel have done a lot to keep the Rockies in games out of the bullpen.

                            The Bad:

                            • Yordano Ventura has been inconsistent and needs to improve on his 4.11 ERA
                            • R.A. Dickey hasn't been much help with a 5.22 ERA to start the year.
                            • Cingrani hasn't had much opportunity (just 8 innings), but he's not been good when he has gotten the chance.
                            • After hitting 2 HR in his first game, Matt Olsen has just one HR since then and is batting .228.
                            • Francisco Lindor has disappeared in the final week of the month, pulling his average down under .240 in the process.

                            The Ugly:
                            • Joey Gallo is batting just .170 to start the year.
                            • Luis Severino has disappointed so far, posting a horrid 7.58 ERA.
                            • Brandon Finnegan had a 6.35 ERA before suffering an injury.
                            • The Rockies are just 3-8 on the road so far.

                            Notable Stats:
                            • Ichiro is batting a staggering .455 vs LHP.
                            • Joc Pederson has more WAR (0.82) than Bryce Harper (0.59) and the most of any player on the team, nudging out Aaron Sanchez (0.81).
                            • If you like/believe in the Three True Outcomes approach, Joc Pederson might be your player. 37.5% of his hits have been HR and when he doesn't homer, 38% of his PAs end with either a walk or a strikeout. In total, 45.5% of Pederson's PAs end with either a HR, BB, or K. Pederson also has more HR (6) than singles (5) or doubles (5).
                            • Gary Sanchez is similar. 44% of his PA's have ended in a walk or strikeout. By contrast, Reynaldo Rodiguez has a K or BB in just 5.88% of his PAs. Ichiro is at 14%.

                            Rumors:

The Rockies might be shopping for a right-handed power bat, likely at 1B or 3B. Neither of Matt Olsen or Joey Gallo has really impressed the team. The question is, what would the Rockies part with? The Rockies have some coveted pitching prospects, but would a team that calls Coors Field home want to part with potential top-notch pitchers?

Some have linked the team to the Cardinals 3B Nolan Arenado. Reports are that the Cardinals might want Severino plus some others. Neither team would confirm the rumor.

Jose Abreu from the Angels has also come up through the grape vine. Joey Gallo got brought up there, but the Rockies wouldn't be able to make that move without a 3B to fill the spot. Plus, the team wouldn't like want to just give up on him.

GM Michael Sword went into the draft with a plan. Speed, more speed and a cornerstone power piece if possible. Value at pitching, young arms, veteran relief. The Cardinals were thrilled when the ping pong ball came up for them and was placed in the 3rd overall draft slot. Below are the results of the draft.
