Rockies series against the Diamondbacks.
Game 1 - Chi Chi Gonzalez pitched another solid game, but the Rockies could only do so much against McCarthy and the score was tied 3-3 after 7. Coleman gave up a home run in the 8th to put the Rockies behind 4-3. Uehara gave up a hit, but nothing came of it.
Britton gave up two hits, putting the tying run at 3rd base. However, Panik, who was 3-for-3 at the time, made the final out to end the game.
Avery Romero picked up his first big league hit, a triple. He followed that with another hit, a single, in the 9th.
Game 2 - Alex Reyes had a mixed, but competitive outing in this one. He struck out nine batters in six innings, but gave up a 3-run inning in the 4th to put the Rockies in a 3-2 hole.
This time, though, the Rockies bats woke up and pick up 3 runs of their own in the bottom half, sparked by Harper's 2-run HR. From there, the Rockies would not look back and won in a rout by a 10-4 score.
Game 3 - This game was total chaos. Urias got smoked pretty good, giving up a whopping 10 hits in just 5 innings of work, leading to 5 runs. Fortunately for the Rockies, Wainwright was having as tough a time, giving up 5 runs in 5 innings as well.
It was 6-6 through 7 innings when the Diamondbacks jumped on a tired bullpen to take a 9-6 lead into the 9th inning.
Arizona closer Britton on the mound. PH Duffy picked up a single to get on base to start the inning. Lindor popped up but J.P. Crawford hit a 2-run HR to make the score 9-8.
Uehara comes in to replace Britton, looking for the final out. First pitch from Uehara is laced into center by Joc Pederson. Harper pops out in foul territory, just missing on his swing. That left it up to Burns to extend the game. He succeeded with a single up the middle. Tying run moves to second. Gallo up and he hits a hard single up the middle. Pederson rounds third to try to score and slides in safe to tie the game.
Varvaro comes in to try to send it to extras, and the first man to step in is Avery Romero. This fiery little hitter was 4-for-4 to this point. On 1-1, Romero lashed a single to center. Burns with his speed was not going to be stopped and the Rockies walk-off winners with a 10-9 score.
Both teams combined for 32 hits in the game and 6 home runs, including one by Wainwright, the Arizona starting pitcher. Gary Sanchez hit 2 HR's in the game.
Avery Romero debuted with a bang as he went 8-for-13 in the series with 4 RBI and 4 runs scored.
The Rockies finally get a break after this 20-day gauntlet. They'll have an off-day, a 3-game series with the Mets to end the homestand, and another day off. The team finished at 11-9 in the 20-game grind and stand at 15-20 overall.
