Re: Official MLB The Show 16 Fantasy Draft Franchise Progress Thread

Alrighty, so I chose the San Fransisco Giants as my team, mainly because of the beautiful ballpark and i love the Bay. This is my second team drafted, my other had like 3 major injuries during spring training and I wanted a fresh start.

    My Starting Lineup:

    1. Marte (LF)
    2. Hosmey (1B)
    3. Trout (CF)
    4. Schwarber (RF)
    5. Seager (3B)
    6. Russell (SS)
    7. Castillo (C)
    8. Moncada (2B)
    9. Pitcher

    Bench:

    1. Aaron Judge (RF) (6'7 STUD Rookie)
    2. Gary Sanchez (C) Prospect
    3. Tyler White (1B)
    4. Brock Holy (EVERYWHERE)

    Starting Pitchers:

    1. Wacha (81)
    2. Rodon (81)
    3. Latos (80)
    4. Maeda (77) (R)
    5. Berrios (75) (R)

Taking some chances with a young starting pitching crew, however.... I have Chapman/Vincent (81)/Osuna closing it out, with solid 75s in middle relief and Taylor Jordan for Long relief, who has 80 stamina.

Its gonna be a great year, Go Giants!

Offense looks awesome! That rotation is scary though! Most everyone's issues seem to stem from pitching. Hoping the injury bug doesn't bite you too often.

S1G1: San Fran Giants @ Milwaukee Brewers
Matchup: Michael Wacha vs Jake Arrieta

Final Score: Giants 4, Brewers 2.

Recap: Wacha got hurt early, ended up being a sore shoulder and only out a week. Taylor Jordan came in and shut the brewers down for a few innings. Slow moving game, Trout doubled in the fourth and Addy singled him in to take the lead, then two innings later Addy hit a 3 run bomb to center field to extend the lead to 4-0. Jordan surrendered 2 in the bottom of the 6th, but then Jeffress/Chapman/Osuna had 3 scoreless innings to secure the win.

Next Game: Carlos Rodon v Jordan Zimmerman

You're right, because either you get an ace round one, or sacrifice that ace and get three solid lineup guys. Id prefer a solid bullpen and decent pitching, obviously. Plus, with the number 2 pick, I wasnt skipping on Trout!

Same here. I went Bryce Harper at #3 overall and could not pass up Marte and Lindor....too strong. I went pure value and youth with my starting pitching with some sneaky veteran end of the rotation guys as well. The bullpen I drafed is very strong though and will help immensely. I wanted a lot of 4-5 tool guys in my lineup. I think I have a championship caliber team already.

We shall see starting this weekend!!

Exactly my thoughts. Trout is a power guy/100 tool player as is, and passing on martes solid fielding and lead off ability wasnt possible

Re: Official MLB The Show 16 Fantasy Draft Franchise Progress Thread

Two more games down, another series victory. Travel day up next as we head to Milwaukee to begin a 7 game road trip. 3 against the Brewers (23-25) and 4 at Coors field. The Rockies are 26-21 on the season

                Remainder of Dodgers series
                Game 2: Arroyo v Bailey
Arroyo gave up a lot in a little bit of work. 4ip 6h 5r 5k. Not too awful for his first start after being signed days ago. Didn't matter anyway as Bailey was insane. Bailey threw his second consecutive shutout going 9 allowing 6h 0bb and striking out 10.

Game 3: Big Game Garrett toed the mound against Edison Volquez. Richards pitched a gem: 7.1ip 4h 1Ibb with 9k. Kelly Johnson, giving Frazier a rare day off, provided all the offense necessary. Johnson hit a 2 run home run in the 6th chasing Volquez. Jepsen and Duke bridged the gap, and Casilla earned his 20th save of the season!

Jake Peavy (6-0 1.89), Jake Thompson (0-0), and Sonny Gray (6-3 3.43) lineup against Yovani Gallardo (2-5 4.18), Tyler Duffy (4-2 3.49) and Noah Snyderguard (4-4 2.89). Notable injury The Brewers catcher, Devin Mesoraco is on the DL for another 50 days due to a Fractured Hand.

This is why I'd much rather pick at the end of the first round, than near the top.

My draft is tonight. Can't wait !

First game against the Brewers was a win. Peavy wasn't his best, but the bats and the bullpen bailed him out. A 4 run 3rd put the Reds in the whole early. Bird & co bailed him out with a 5 run 5th and the bullpen held in to secure the victory. Final score 5-4.

Game 2 of series- 21 year old rookie Jake Thompson makes his first start after being called up. More to come

                          Matchup: Rodon v Zimmerman

FINAL SCORE: Giants 1 Brewers 3

Recap: Brutal loss. To lose on a walk off sucks, but to score only 1 run on 11 hits is even worse. Too many missed opportunities.

For the series tomorrow, Mat Latos v Jeff Samardzija

Jake Thompson looked pretty good. The Reds scored 2 to open up the game, only for the Brewers to match it in the bottom of the frame. Thompsons line was 7ip 7h 3r 3k. Most of those hits came in the first 2 innings, once he settled down it was smooth sailing. Trevor story tied the game in the 6th on an rbi double, before Nick Hundley quieted the crowd with a 3 run hr to left center. Frazier hit a solo hr in the top of the ninth to put us up by 4, and Alex Meyer worked a perfect 9th in an attempt to get him some innings.

My draft is tonight. Can't wait !

I'd rather be in the middle. Extremes in a snake draft are a bear. Nothing like watching 50 names go off the board and nothing you can do about it.

Yeah. I like to be around 20, makes me feel like I'm getting more quality per pick. Especially later on.
