I have to say that I'm absolutely blown away by all the face scans (at least for the Cubs) this year. There's a ton of new one's and they look fantastic.

re: MLB The Show 17 Impressions
After playing 10 or 12 games in all different modes, my first impression is that really stands out the most is how the ball comes in. Compared to years past the ball from the mound to the plate is just floating in. It reminds me of when you would have a position player pitching in years past how slow it is coming in. This year it gives you in my opinion way too much time to calculate if it is a changup, fastball, and especially a curve ball. Really takes away from the challenge of baseball. I have tried turning the pitch speed slider up and it still doesn't really come in that fast. I wish there was a mode called like "pitching realism" that would step up the pitch speed to what it is really like to be in the box in the MLB. Thoughts? Anyone else noticing this floating ball effect? Like a grapefruit really.
If you want realism, they need to overhaul commentary and remove outdated animations..and please for anyones sanity, get rid of the cutscenes with the stupid fans holding signs.Comment

You are kidding right? It is difficult enough to judge pitches and especially its location with default sliders. Hitting would be impossible and already guess work as it is.

They are trying to be loyal with Matty V. He is local boy after all. They already confirmed he is not going anywhere though so we are stuck with the boring commentary for who knows how long. I also feel like next year, they will probably put more focus on RTTS and Franchise, so i doubt they will do anything important on the commentary end. Gameplay, other than small tweaks here and there will most likely remain unchanged. Here is hoping EA agrees on a contract at some point to make a baseball game next year so i can finally move on from this series and stop hearing excuses about their small team.Comment

MLB The Show 17 Impressions only.
I loved Matt when he was our man for the Padres those years. He was great. I kinda have a soft spot for him

Overall happy, but I hope they at least pretend to make a competent AI in future Franchise efforts. Terrible AI makes the Fantasy Draft a disaster, and bad payroll/contract info hurts Franchise realism as well.
The physics are pretty neat, though. Playing RttS, I hit a hard liner into left. It one-hopped, hit the foul pole, and went into the stands as a GRD.Comment

re: MLB The Show 17 Impressions
After a couple days of playing, the only gripe I have (other than the player clipping / lack of player physics) is the lighting flickers /flashes. I've been testing the HDR intesity slider it to see if was a HDR issue but it happens even when HDR is turned off. Disclaimer...I have a 4K Oled tv with HDR & playing on PS4 Pro.
What's happening is the lighting will flicker or quickly change the tone of the batter right when the pitcher starts his pitching motion. You will notice it when batting from a non broadcast view (I use Fisheye). The lighting on the pitcher will flash/flicker also. You will notice it when pitching from the broadcast view. It seems to happen no matter what time of day you play. Like I said you can turn the HDR intensity all the way up, all the way down or completely off & it still happens. It's not a game breaker but it's very distracting to say the least. Hopefully this is just a bug that can be patched.Comment

Lovin the game so far. One impression that turns me off is the chalk lines don't degrade over time and players sliding into bases... their jerseys are still clean after. Little details go a long way for realism. Otherwise the game is great so far. (I haven't dove in to far as I am waiting for the OSFM).Comment
