Official MLB 17 : Road to the Show Thread

As far as getting switched. I was a ss and was asked to move to 3rd. I had a better chance to get to the show. I asked them what I need to do to get back to ss and they sent a coach to me explaining what I need to improve on. So I'm working on fielding an arm. I notice that they traded the ss and brought in a 3rd basemen at MLB level. I'm currently 74 fielding 67 arm and crushing it in AAA. I legit have the best option to get to the show as a ss but haven't been switched. Maybe soon?

I played my first 5 games at 3B after my switch. I did ok, after reading all the posts regarding being moved, I'm guessing that I am at 3B permanently. I'm playing really well at the moment. I'm expecting a jump to AAA at some point this season.

I'm loving the interactions so far. I was first drafted by the Astros but didn't want to play for them so I went to college. At 19 I got drafted first overall as a shortstop to the twins. After a month or so the coach wanted me to move to LF since they needed it so I did and I didn't like it. I kept playing and the coach said they like me at left and I would be promoted to the majors a lot more soon than I would at SS because Zach Cozart is in the way. I basically told him 1. I want to go back to shortstop and 2. Since I'm doing so good they'll have to trade Cozart because I'm better than him. I wasn't playing Mr Nice Guy anymore since I'm an A potential and hitting over .400 with 46 rbi 13 hrs at 200 at bats so other teams would love to have me. They gave in and gave me SS back and even though I'm not in the majors I'd rather wait and stay at SS.

I wonder why some people get switched and some don't. I started my guy with Max Fielding ratings for a CF (70's in Fielding and reaction, 90 speed.. weak arm but I was working on it. Then I got switched to 2nd. 2nd is actually my favorite position but I was trying something new until a good roster set is out.

It appears I've played myself out of my timing window.. really frustrating myself at this point lol. Gonna take a break for a couple days.

AA First year hit .260 with 29 HR and 78 BB with around 400 AB's. Definitely happy with my walk rate but looking to improve it still. Got traded to the Dodgers org in the offseason, walks are still there but I'm hitting everything late. I haven't made an outfielder range back in my first month with Tulsa.. sitting hard under the Mendoza line with a healthy .188 AVG and 2HR

No complaints, I like the fact that I'm struggling with a new org. Just wish I wasn't late on everything. I'll see what happens in a few days.

Re: Official MLB 17 : Road to the Show Thread

Last night I really jumped into Road to the Show. Created a closer. The improvements to the mode this year are great, having more detailed and actual interactions this year is awesome. Really makes you realize how bad and boring "interactions" were before this year. It's just so much more in depth now and it should only get better from here. I'll probably actually keep playing it this year.

My first time I got drafted in the 6th round by the Diamondbacks. Decided to come back into the draft next year. Next draft I got picked in the 3rd round with the 3rd pick by the Reds and I signed with them. Currently in AA still, year 1. Getting towards the end of year one, been doing good all year. I think I'm getting close to AAA.

They tried moving me to SP early on even though I was doing great but I refused. Of course they didn't particularly like that so they benched me for a little bit. Then they came back and accepted my choice and asked me again and said they wouldn't force my hand. Said I wanted to remain at CP again. They said it would take longer for me to reach the majors then and that I might move up quicker if I moved to SP but that's fine with me.

Made a power-hitting first baseman, drafted in the 4th round to Pittsburgh. I was asked to move to 3B for 10 games. I thought it was incredibly stupid because the Pirates organization only has 2 other 1B on the default roster. I played well at 3B but they moved me back to first after 10 games.

So, no, a position change is not always permanent folks.

How do you draw so many walks what is your approach?

Does anybody else make a realistic player. Im doing a RTTS player and modeling my game after Russell Martin but with better contract. I want my player to be low 80's with around .280/20 HRS/80 RBI in a season with good defense. Im tired of the 99 ovr and want a challenge.

So Midland wanted to move me from RF to First Base. Which to me doesn't make a lot of sense because they have Matt Olsen in AA who's an A potential. In RF for Oakland is Matt Joyce who's 34 years old. I told the manager I had no experience at first but he assured me it was a trial run about 10 or so games. So fine. Not going to lie I'm having a good time. I did finally decide that I'm going to start over once the OSFM roster comes out

I try to have realistic stats with my player. Struggle through the minors for a few years, get called up and be a serviceable starter for a couple of years and eventually be good enough to possibly go for a batting title and sb crown. I like to end up being a great player but I like the grind of the come up. I go for a fast, great Fielding player with good contact. I don't want to hit over 10 hr's a year.

Just as an update. After about 10 games, I was switched back to CF. Only thing I could think of is that a few middle infielders were hurt during the time I was switched and then they were healthy when I was switched back. Not sure if that had anything to do with it or not, but that's pretty cool if it is.

Yeah...So a few hours later now and my agent convinced me to do what they say and play left field. I got promoted to AAA and then they came at me again with it but this time they were serious. The coach said either you play left field and get to the majors quickly or sit on the bench in the minors. So I took the offer and now I'm playing left field in the majors. I'm hoping at some point I will have the option to go back to shortstop or get traded which I wouldn't mind.
