Official MLB 17 : Road to the Show Thread

Made it through my first AA season with the Yankees organization. Batted .331 with 12 HR and 73 RBI. Didn't have enough at bats to be a league leader in average, seemed to be out of the lineup a lot. They moved me from 2nd to 3rd early in the season and I'm liking it a lot better than 2nd. Ended resigning with the team for another year and was assigned to AAA Scranton at a 66 overall. There's no true 3rd baseman on the MLB roster so I'm hoping I can get called up this season but I doubt it with the AA 3rd baseman being a 75 overall.

Trying to figure out the best way to earn more skill points in games, do you earn more based on difficulty level, a la 2k?

I am on the Mississippi Braves ATM on my RTTS and he is on my team. His name is Lorde Bordick. He's left me stranded in scoring position more times than I care to remember.

Is RTTS worth playing ? I haven't tried it at all ever. LoL. Is it better then Be A Pro Mode in EA NHL ?

Yes much better. You can put attribute points where you want (something I hated about NHL be a pro). Love the RPG aspect. I got drafted by Detroit in my pitcher rtts, didn't want to play for them, went to junior college for a year and the following year it let me choose what team I wanted to play for. I wish NHL be a pro had more rpg stuff in it like this game or NBA 2k.

So it took a couple weeks, but magically as of June 1 I was back in my preferred position of SS. Went through the month and I am raking in AA. .344/.426/.564, 15 2B, 10 HR, 46 RBI. Walking at a nice 16% clip as teams start to pitch around me more and more. K% is still a bit high at 22%, but that's down from the start of the month where I was hovering around 25%.

I'm happy to be back where I want to be. Even if I am blocked at the major league level, I'd rather be having fun at the minor league level than be bored out my mind in the majors. A little extra seasoning never really hurt anyone anyways.

Lucky you. Similar thing happened to me in the Jays org, they claimed they were putting me back but no dice. I'm only B POT, but raking in AA- .335/.410/.510, with good fielding stats. I guess you have to be Ted Williams to get out in your proper role? I might just wait until they patch this to continue, no sense in wasting any more time in RF bored out of my mind.

Same thing happened to me in the Cubs system. I was moved to CF for the AA affiliate. Hated playing out there. After a while the coach approached me about making it permanent, and I refused. He told me with Addison Russell starting at SS for the Cubs, I had very little hope of making it into the big leagues unless I was traded.

I'll take my chances and stick to SS. The fact that this year I wanted to focus on the defensive side of things with this player made playing CF feel pointless, and that I wasted a lot of training points on things I don't need for that position. Moved back to SS and made some amazing plays.

Batting Ave is fluctuating around .250. I'm leading the team in at bats, hits, HRs and RBIs.

For those of you who try to stay on the same team (block trades)... What method do you use? I haven't bought a new the show since 13.. then, I could just back out, injure a player involved in the trade and then it would go away. Is it possible to do that this year? I haven't found an option to injure a player in this year's game.

Does anybody else make a realistic player. Im doing a RTTS player and modeling my game after Russell Martin but with better contract. I want my player to be low 80's with around .280/20 HRS/80 RBI in a season with good defense. Im tired of the 99 ovr and want a challenge.

I'll keep improving my stats until they're maxed, but just keep my starting pitcher's velocity low. Bringing back that Greg Maddux swag!
