    Is your player supposed to lose ratings like 4 points every week ?

    If so why ?

    Your performance can affect your perceived rating.

    Also if you haven't put points into a stat in over 60 days they'll start to decay. Note that this is for every stat. You have to put at least one point in every 60 days or they'll start to decay. (The amount of time needed to start the decay process gets shorter the further into your career you are, but not until at least age 35)

      Thanks. First year I played this. I freaking love it. Didn't know. Appreciated the tip. My stats are tanking fast.

        Re: Official MLB 17 : Road to the Show Thread

        I didn't play much RTTS the last two years since I was so wrapped up in DD, but with this year's game being nearly unplayable online, I've gravitated back towards RTTS and I've been reminded of why I used to love it so much. I created a 6'6" 260lb 3B and got drafted in the first round by the Cardinals. I started off on All-Star difficulty with default sliders. The only slider I adjusted was CPU Pickoffs, which I moved to zero since there's nothing I hate more than a pitcher picking off to 1st base three times in a row while I'm trying to bat. I use zone hitting as well. After a somewhat slow 4-19 start in AA, I went on to put up other worldly numbers. I considered putting the difficulty up, but I knew the difficulty would scale when I got promoted so I figured it would even out.

        In AA with the Springfield Cardinals, I hit a ridiculous .546/.545/.974 with 23 homers and 91 RBI in just 273 at bats. I have no idea why my OBP was lower than my AVG, but me not working walks was a result of AA pitchers lobbing meatballs down the middle every single time. AA is way too easy on All-Star in my opinion. Anyway, I got the call to AAA right after the AA all star game in late June. With the Memphis Redbirds, I came back down to Earth a bit but still put up numbers that must have had the major league club salivating. I hit .366/.376/.703 with 13 homers and 42 RBI in 172 at bats. To my surprise, I got the call up to the MLB in late August as an 18 year old. It may be unrealistic, but I personally don't enjoy grinding in the minors for years so I didn't mind. In a small 34 game sample size, I made a very nice impression in my first taste of major league baseball. I hit .284/.331/.553 with 9 homers and 24 RBI in 141 at bats. We made the playoffs as the second wild card team at 92-70 but lost to the Dodgers in the wild card game. The Dodgers defeated the Red Sox in the World Series.

        Heading into the 2018 season, I signed a 1 year contract to be on the MLB bench. I was a bit disheartened that I didn't get the starting job, but considering I was just 19, it made sense. However, I started for the first two months of the year due to an injury to Marwin Gonzalez. When he returned, I was sent to the bench. I rode the pine until the all star break, only getting a few starts and pinch hit chances here and there. After the break, I was officially given the starting 3B job. I rewarded the team handsomely, going on to finish with a .339/.356/.600 line in my first full year in the big leagues with 27 homers and 77 RBI in 498 at bats. I finished with enough at bats to qualify for the batting title, which I won by edging out Freddie Freeman by six points. Once again, we were the second wild card team at 87-75 but lost to the Giants in the wild card game. The Rays(!) defeated the Nationals in the World Series.

        For the 2019 season, I signed a 1 year contract to once again be the starting 3B. We somehow acquired Paul Goldschmidt in the offseason. I couldn't find anyone we traded to the D-Backs so I'm assuming we signed him which is awesome. After hitting over .400 in April, I decided it was finally time to bump the difficulty up to Hall of Fame. That hasn't slowed me down too much, as through 54 games, I'm hitting .386/.409/.712 with 15 homers and 46 RBI in 215 at bats. We're currently sitting at 32-22, first in the NL Central. I don't expect to hit near .400 all year, but I think a .350 40+ homer season is well within reach. Maybe a little absurd for a 20 year old, but I'm not really concerned with the age. Just as long as I'm putting up SOMEWHAT plausible stats but still having a lot of fun, I'm happy. I'm really enjoying playing for the Cardinals, so I fully plan on riding out my six years of pre-free agent eligibility with them. Hopefully we can win a World Series before I become a free agent, when I'll probably leave just for a change of scenery since I'll have played 6+ seasons with one team at that point.

          Being an Australian, I always play in the International team.

          I struggled in the first Showcase game, going 0-4 with 1 RBI from a sacrifice.

          The second Showcase game went much better. 4-4 with a walkoff homer to win the game. I was polite and didn't ask too many questions of my adviser.

          Not thinking I'd go high, I was surprised to go in the first round to the Cubs at 30. The depth at SS isn't great, so I think I might move up to AAA quicker than other clubs. The only thing is the starting SS for the Cubs is 23 year old Addison Russell, who I don't think is gonna be moved on anytime soon.

          So I started my career with the AA affiliate Tennessee Smokies.

          I've played 12 games, with an average just above .300, 3 HR and 12 RBIs.

          My fielding is going ok. Had a couple of reactionary mistakes, which were completely my fault (flicking the stick slightly the wrong way) but the mechanics of the R3 and R2 controls makes fielding fun.
          *Update*

          My first season was spent in AA for the first half, and AAA in the second half. We missed playoffs in both. Nothing really exciting happened.

          The Chicago Cubs went back to back World Series Champions, but I had no involvement.

          The second season, I was placed on the bench for the Cubs in the Majors. I was the pinch hitter, which got quite annoying only getting one AB a game, and very little fielding work. Especially since I focused on my fielding attributes.

          Halfway through the year, I was dropped back to the AAA Cubs, and went on a 12 game hitting streak. After a late season collapse, we didn't make the playoffs, and I was elevated back up the the MLB Cubs for the last month of the season.

          Since I hadn't played enough, I wasn't eligable for the playoffs, and sat out the Cubs losing series to end the season.

          The current season, I was once again placed on the bench for the MLB Cubs and pinch hit. After a few strikeouts in a row, the manager wanted a word. Instead of being polite like usual, I started to talk back.

          This culminated in me being traded to the Padres.

          Initially I has happy with the move. The first game there, I was the starting SS, and I kept the spot over Rondon for the first two weeks. Then I had a couple of poor games, and was placed once again on the bench as a pinch hitter.

          I do get one or two games a week on the field at either SS or 1B to fill in for guys who are rested, but I really want that starting spot.

            Figured I'd add to this by giving you an example of what happens if you don't work on all aspects of your character. A friend of mine is in 2019 season with Braves. He's been sinking all his points on hitting attributes, with his fielding down in the 40's. He was in the running for a triple crown....got sent down to AAA to "work on his position". lol. Got called up back to the team and finished the season in a pinch hit role and kept that roll till eliminated from playoffs. Currently he's in the spring and still is not in a "starter" role. Very frustrating for him to say the least. I also have a RF that it's in 2019 season with Braves and am rolling right along. Trying to win a gold glove and a batting title. Added Machado in offseason and were 12.5 games up in the NL East in August.

              Has ANYONE figured out how or if you can switch positions? I've seen the options with your agent that you are "just not feeling " the position.....and the other option only gives you 1st freakin base. I want to move from RF to CF OR LF. Has anyone made a successful request to change and go anywhere other than 1st base?

                I've been asked to move from SS to CF twice by the Cubs.

                I trialed it once and didn't like it, so told them I wanted to stay at SS. I think that's hampered my progression, since I don't get any time on the field at SS.

                  Re: Official MLB 17 : Road to the Show Thread

                  Hey guys! Insane update to give you all, as my team and I finally had postseason success. 11th year in the bigs, 5th with Seattle. Been to the playoffs only 2 times before, an ALCS loss and WC loss. First, my regular season numbers, which were around my usual. Strange season, as over half the year I was hitting over .300, leading the league in homers and the MVP vote. Unfortunately, slid in August/September once again, resulting in my usual kind of numbers. I'll keep it brief, as the focus of this season was the playoffs.
                  *= career best

                  98 OVR, LF Seattle Mariners, age 30 season
                  - 1st Player Of The Month Award (June) -- .378/8 HRs/20 RBI
                  - 7th All-Star Selection (Starter)
                  - 2nd Home Run Derby Selection -- HR Derby Champion - 44 HRs

                  149 Gs
                  547 ABs/633 PAs

                  31 HR
                  87 RBI
                  .293 AVG
                  .384 OBP
                  .514 SLG
                  83 BB
                  76 Ks*
                  22 2Bs
                  6.7 WAR

                  Okay, now a recap of playoff action:
                  * Wild Card Win vs. TEX
                  * 3-1 ALDS W vs. CLE
                  * 4-1 ALCS W vs. BOS
                  * 1st American League Pennant
                  * 10/29/28 - Game-Winning Grand Slam Game 3 of World Series (7th inning)
                  * 4-1 WS W vs. WSH
                  * 1st WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONSHIP
                  * World Series MVP! -- .550/4 HR/10 RBI

                  I started out really poorly at the plate through the ALDS/ALCS, but once my first World Series came around, I went on FIRE. Homers in 4 out of 5 games, .550 average in the 5 games, and the best moment of my entire career. Down 3-1 in Game 3 in the 7th with 2 out, I hit a game winning Grand Slam to center that ended up giving us the 2-1 series lead and we never looked back. Extremely happy that I was also awarded World Series MVP, likely the best honor i'll ever receive in my career. After 10 years in the league on mostly subpar teams, I am a World Series Champion! 2028 was an amazing year all around.

                        I've said no to moving from 3B to 1B and took the benching (and eventual trade). The Yankees said my best path to the majors 1B but I just couldn't do it. I know being on the bench, especially in the minors, is tough but my career worked out for the best so far.

                              I'm probably in the minority but I actually don't mind the position changes. I started out as a CF in the Marlins org, but then got switched around a fair amount at LF and RF, only to be permanently placed at 1b. It let's me play a few different positions without having multiple RTTS's going. Plus I get more enjoyment out of hitting so I don't focus alot on defense. However, if they want to put me at catcher, I'm gonna be a dick about it...lol

                                Update to D.J. Reynolds, 3B/SS in the Milwaukee Brewers organization:

                                So it appears that Reynolds' move to 3B will be permanent as the Brewers have Orlando Arcia locked up at SS in their organization. Reynolds finished the 2017 season strong and that helped secure a spot as the starting 3B in the majors for Milwaukee, despite a poor spring in which Reynolds hit just above .200 with 0 HRs and 9 RBIs. To start the regular season, however, Reynolds showed the Brewers that their trust wasn't misguided and has started the year off hot. We are now in late April and the Brewers and Pirates have just completed a ridiculous 20 inning marathon that Reynolds didn't even enter until the top of the 11th inning, pinch hitting and staying in the game at RF because of the lack of position players remaining. The Pirates wound up winning 5 to 4 in the bottom of the 20th.

                                MLB stats (2017):
