Re: Official MLB 17 : Road to the Show Thread

My fielder is always a utility infielder. I'm not crazy about the hot corner but being versatile results in more playing time when you're still trying to work your way into a starting job.

Do you guys think there's any chance they return the transaction notifications and the ability to initiate interactions via a patch or do we just have to wait until next year?

Re: Official MLB 17 : Road to the Show Thread

I was pretty excited for my first baseman RTTS this year, and I was drafted by the Cubs in the second round, right after my first attempt of the Showcase!

Managed to play well for the Tennessee Smokies, earning a trip to the Double-A All-Star Game, as well as a call-up to Iowa in early July.

Then, I got the dreaded call into the manager's office. I had been traded.

I was sent off to the Athletics organization, and am now DH-ing for the Nashville Sounds in Triple-A.

I reacted accordingly, responding to my coaches and agent with a bit of frustration that my favorite club had sent me packing. I am interested to see how things play out based on those conversations.

Re: Official MLB 17 : Road to the Show Thread

The retirement year in this game was really cool, and fun to be a part of. Everyone saying how they will miss my 45 year old dude.

Mainly simmed, actually played ~30 games a season. Had a 27 year career.

1,031 HR - 4,329 hits - also broke the runs scored and RBI records and won 13 consecutive MVP's.

Never used "steroids" just over time became awesome...because it didn't start that way haha.

Drafted 3rd round by the Royals, lit up AA and AAA. After 8 games of not playing in MLB at 19 years old I got dealt to the Orioles.

With the Orioles I spent 3 seasons on the bench there where my first two years I just didn't get enough at bats for it to matter. I ask my agent to get me the heck out of there...and 3 years later I find myself in Philly.

Two and a half years of dominance out in Philadelphia with two runner up MVP seasons had me geared up for a good free agency.

Phillies decided I was too expensive I guess and did not send an offer my way...so I signed a year 45 million dollar deal with the Angels. Year one hit 51 home runs and captured my first MVP. During the offseason, get dealt to the Giants...

Decide to make best with this, as the Giants are a playoff team. Well shoot in two years I was amazing and the Giants were not haha. Back to back 40+ home run seasons and free agency comes. I decide to give the Giants a shot to re-sign me but did not want me for anything less than 9 years, so I said screw off and returned to Philly on a one year deal.

Back in Philly hit out 47 home runs, somehow did not capture MVP.

Now free agency again...Wonder where I am going...would be smart to stay in Philly...they don't offer me a contract...

5 years $100 million dollars later the beard is gone and I am wearing pinstripes in New York...yuck. 5 consecutive MVP seasons, a ring, and 3 consecutive 50+ home run seasons.

Phillies finally offer me a contract! Sign a 4 year deal there. Win two rings and 4 more MVP's.

One year to Cleveland, one year to Angels, one year to the Royals, three years to the Astros with MVP's. In 4 years of those 6.

All in 17...wife had a busy week, and spent most of the time with her pregnant sister, and took our son with her.

Meant lots of gaming time for this guy. I did this in about 3 weeks I think. Just around 30 games a season, and games that I can reach a milestone.

Going to start up a closing pitcher next, and play every game of his career since it will fly by regardless.

True. I'm about to start up a closer too. Still on 16 tho, not doing a batter till I pick up 17.

How does one create a pull hitter, or can you only be balanced? Now I tend to swing just early naturally so it isn't like I am not truly a pull hitter. Will the game pick this up, or do the hitting % not register?

Started my first RTTS for The Show '17. I thought I'd do something a little different.

I created a speedy CF with the name of...Barry Allen. His nickname is "the Flash." He already has 91 speed and I plan to eventually upgrade it to 99. I got drafted in the second round (highest I've ever gotten drafted in MLB, I'm pretty sure" by the Miami Marlins. Allen starts his career as the starting CF for the AA Jumbo Shrimp.

Question: What does YTD Change mean and how do I stop stats from turning red?

                    Thanks.

Year-to-Date change - # of points the attribute has been improved by this season. Atts start to degrade after 60 days since they were last improved.

2nd year at RF for the Angels, they pick up Harper in the off-season. I'm thinking I'll end up DH'ing or maybe LF..but in a twist they play Harper at DH the whole year. We end up winning 117 games, division title and another MVP for trout. Lose 2 games total in the playoffs and face off with the Mets in the World Series. Take the Mets in 5 and I get WS MVP.

Advanced to the off-season and we pick up Anthony Rendon. So I'm stoked that even though our pitching is suspect our offense is going to be killer. And here's where things go sideways, at least for me. By this time I'm rated a 90ish and Harper gets the starting RF job. So I figure, being the 3rd highest rated player on the team that I'll play somewhere. Nope. Maybin gets the LF job, Trout in center. Besides LeMahieu, Tendon, Trout , Harper and myself there's nobody rated higher than a 74. I get bench duty the entire year...I really have no idea why I was never moved to one of my secondary positions (IF) or freaking DH. I end up hitting .325, 18 hr, and 65 rbi as a PH and spot starter in 300ish AB.

I am beyond frustrated as we're in the playoffs again and I'm afraid I'll be playing off the bench. Ugh.

In your agent/manager interactions complain loudly. Or stick it out and win titles because it sounds like your team is loaded.

                          Harper and Trout? Sheesh.

Yeah my first year we made it to the WS against the Cubs and just got annihilated. And the following off-season they picked up LeMahieu and Harper.

I'm in the middle of the 2019 season as a 3B with the Red Sox. I actually started briefly due to an injury but I'm now back on the bench. I'm not getting enough playing time to maintain my current ratings, much less improve. I was able to stabilize my offensive skills but fielding and reaction continue to plummet. (These were pretty high so the cost for each improvement is also high.) I've played well but for some reason I can't seem to work my way into a starting job.

The silver lining is that the team is playing really well and leads the division. Boston lost the WS in '17 and just missed the postseason in '18.

I guess I'll ride the pine and try to have a really good spring next year to improve my ratings.
