You can still get moved back to your original position even if you take the rebellious route and get benched. Just wanted to clarify.

Re: Official MLB 17 : Road to the Show Thread
Anyone else getting traded a lot? My secondary player, Yogi Bartlett, has been dealt three times and we're only entering his 3rd year (2nd in Majors).
2016 3rd Round Pick (Arizona Diamondbacks)
C - Yogi Bartlett - HS
Yogi spent the year at the Double A Affiliate Jackson Generals. He had a strong showing with a .277 AVG, 8 HR and 30 RBI. His OBP rested around a .328 as he drew 25 walks. Yogi was on a fast track to the show but that didn't come without some concerns. With a penchant for stealing bases in high school, Bartlett often attempted to swipe bags without coach approval. He finished the year with a poor 6 for 15 showing which led to a reprimand. Arizona was also disappointed in Yogi's disinterest in continuing his career at catcher, preferring to play RF where Arizona had tested him for a month. While Arizona agreed Yogi would be ready for a spot in the Diamondback lineup in 2018, they felt he would be better served in a deal to acquire different talent. They signed Yogi to a one year contract worth 535k and shortly afterwards, dealt him to Tampa Bay.
2018 Tampa Bay Rays
C - Yogi Bartlett - R
Yogi was excited about the prospect of playing with the Rays. It helped that they had an open spot ready for him in RF. However, weeks before Spring Training, Tampa Bay signed star outfielder Andrew McCutchen. This signing sent Yogi back behind the plate. Maybe it was nerves, disappointment or a shot to Yogi's confidence but something rattled the young man. His debut season with the Rays was lackluster to say the least. By July, Yogi had .207 AVG with 9 HR and 26 RBI. Tampa Bay, 3rd in the East, decided to package Yogi in a deal only halfway through his rookie season. His destination, Cleveland.
2018 Cleveland Indians
C - Yogi Bartlett - R
Yogi finished out his Rookie season with the surging Indians. He saw a lot more success in Cleveland as he batted .253 with 12 HR and 31 RBI. The Indians were on fire in October, securing the Central Division and speeding through the Angels and Astros on their path to the World Series. Yogi was exceptional, batting around .320 with 1 HR and 8 RBI. Everything fell off the rails quickly as the Dodgers made quick work of the Indians, sweeping them in four games. Bartlett felt established, playing in front of a passionate fan-base in the playoffs, he quickly agreed to a two year contract worth 1.35 Million. The excitement about his future in Cleveland dwindled fast as it was only a month later when he was called into the Manager's office. The news hit Yogi hard, he had been traded to Philadelphia.

Re: Official MLB 17 : Road to the Show Thread
curious what you guys are using for sliders(if any)? I had been using dynamic difficulty for the majority of my time played in RTTS up until a week or so ago when I switched to Veteran hitting difficulty. At least for me, it's a good mix of being able to read the pitchers pitches, but still being able to be fooled on occasion. My only gripe(and even had this gripe on dynamic as well as All Star) is that I'm not hitting with much pop, and I'm not seeing much hit variation(I cant remember the last time I hit a double in the gap). Even with good timing on a fastball, alot of times it's a weaker grounder to SS or 3B or a lazy popfly to the outfield. Using directional hitting FWIW, and my contact and power stats are 70/65 as of right now. How do yall have your RTTS settings set up?
I have used tnk's sliders for a few years and they play very well imo. I do use a few of my own tweaks but overall they are pretty solid. You can download them from the vault.

Re: Official MLB 17 : Road to the Show Thread
i used Armor and Swords(and still use them for my franchise), but at least in RTTS, there was never any pop in my bat even with good timing. And it's still like that on Veteran. Thinking I need to up the timing window or up solid hits a notch or two.Comment

Re: Official MLB 17 : Road to the Show Thread
Does anyone know if you can refuse a call up or do you have no say in the decision? I don't mind playing a full season in AA and AAA. Going thru 2 minor league levels all the way to the majors your first year isn't very realistic even if you are a top prospect.

Re: Official MLB 17 : Road to the Show Thread
Hey all, finished my 9th season in the big leagues, 3rd with Seattle. This season proved to be by far my best ever, my coming out party as a top player in the American League here in 2026. Unfortunately Seattle pitching was poor, and I didn't make the playoffs unlike 2025, finishing (76-86). Fortunately unlike last season, I kept crushing in September and didn't kill my numbers. Here they are
* = career best
96 OVR, LF
5th All-Star Selection in 6 years
7.7 WAR (6th in AL)
144 Gs
519 ABs/642 PAs
155 Hs*
33 HRs* (4th in AL)
106 RBI* (4th in AL)
.299 AVG*
.421 OBP* (2nd in AL)
.543 SLG* (5th in AL)
.946 OPS* (4th in AL)
110 BBs* (MLB Leader)
99 Ks
26 2Bs
17.1 BB%*
15.4 K%
.245 ISO
Surprised with no silver slugger or any other accolades. But excited that I finally broke out. Through only my age 28 season, I hope I can continue this for a chance at the HOF. I also really hope the Mariners do well next season, as i've only seen playoffs once in my 9 seasons. If not I might have to ask for a trade (hope not)
Notable career stats through my age 28 season:
1187 Hs
240 HRs
712 RBI
.266/.353/.474
32.1 WAR
Hopefully I can update you all after a World Series Championship next year.Last edited by Cubs1984Nostaglia; 04-19-2017, 11:19 PM.Comment

Re: Official MLB 17 : Road to the Show Thread
Just thought I'd repost this information as there is still some confusion about whether or not you can select your team in RTTS. You CAN select your team.
1. Go through the 1st showcase and then the draft.
2. You will be selected by a team, but when you get to the cut screen where you have the option to sign, opt to go back to college/jr. college.
3. Go the showcase again.
4. After you play the final (2nd) showcase game and you come out to the main screen, the option to select team will be just under and to the left of the enter draft option at the top.

Re: Official MLB 17 : Road to the Show Thread
Thanks to that's not working for me. After I play the second showcase, it goes to my agent interaction screen and then straight to draft. No options are ever presented. It doesn't come out to the main screen. I have no option but to go to draft and no option to pick a team.Last edited by aarondmsu; 04-20-2017, 10:23 AM.Comment
