Re: Official MLB 17 : Road to the Show Thread
Hey guys, finished (it takes me like no time to play a full season, with baserunning opportunities set to none and fielding to only some) my first year in Seattle (7th in the bigs) after that $200 M contract, and had my best season ever. The Mariners' pitching, however, cost me a chance at the Postseason, and for the 7th straight year I was on a sub-.500 team.
Individually, I slayed the month of April and May, and after a tough June where I probably hit around .200, I really turned it on the 2nd half of the season. I've become quite good at tracking pitches. I grew comfortable hitting at SAFECO, which is one of my favorite parks, love the Mariner uniforms and everything. Plus Dansby Swanson is the shortstop, who I spent 4.5 years hitting behind in Atlanta to start my career.
Alright, to my 2024 Production.

Re: Official MLB 17 : Road to the Show Thread
Quick update. After having been traded to Houston Astros I started out a season with the Fresno Grizzlies but before the end of my first season with them I got hit with the dreaded Torn MCL injury and missed the rest of that season. I am now into the 2019 season still with the Grizzlies but we have made the postseason. I batted in the .260s with almost 30 HRs and almost 70 RBIs. I am still having a hard time being patient and waiting for good pitches as I too often swing at things I shouldn't I get chided on that a lot too.
Anyway I will be back at it this weekend and see where the career goes after the postseason games.Comment

Re: Official MLB 17 : Road to the Show Thread
So I finally started my road to the show career on MLB 17.
Using Jethro's 1987 90 man roster I created myself as an 18-year-old third base Prospect.
I had a great two days in the prospects game and lo and behold the New York Yankees select me in the first round with the 18th pick I could not be happier!
Right now I'm in Trenton New Jersey in AA ball with the thunder playing with Deion Sanders Gary Ward, and Hensley Mullens.
This is really awesome. If you're a 1980s classic baseball fan I highly recommend starting up a road to the show with Jethrotulls 1987 90 man roster now in the vault

I do not seem to be getting enough training points to even surpass 80 OVR. If I try to save up, I get messages saying that it's been 30 days and it'll have a negative impact on my attributes.Comment

It also probably helps that i sim spring training, player does well, and I get like 600-700 points basically to start the year. Plus I made the All Star team 3 years straight so that was an extra 500 each July.
I think it just comes down to performance.Comment

Yeah, new player, everything organically with training points. I don't know about your case, how well you've been playing, etc.

I changed to 1B, so I can start and I feel like that's why I'm not getting enough points.Comment

You'll only start to deteriorate points after the 61st day (until you get older). I'll usually stash my points until then and drop them all at once.Comment

Re: Official MLB 17 : Road to the Show Thread
Started the playoffs rocky against Detroit, but came back strong and killed the competition. Made it to the World Series against guess who? The Cubs. Redemption or so I thought. This time around the Indians were down 2-0 with their backs against the wall. We prevailed and won the World Series!!!!
I won the playoffs MVP and World Series MVP.
I thought the awards should have been given to EE.Comment

Re: Official MLB 17 : Road to the Show Thread
Anyone notice that the Pitch Count for your teammates ( new batter) is wrong when your player gets on base?
Example if I get one 1B, and the next batter is up at bat with while the Count is 2-1 but the pitch count on the score overlay is 0 for the pitcher if the opposing team substitute a new pitcher or the pitch count does not change if it's the same pitcher.
This bug was in The Show 16 as well in RTTS.
Has anyone EVER been on base, a teammate comes up and they go 4-0 for a walk? I have absolutely never seen it.
Has anyone EVER been on a base, a teammate comes up and they go 0-3 for a strikeout? I have never seen that either.
Has anyone ever had a teammate come up and hit the FIRST pitch for a hit or even an out? Nope, NEVER seen it.
In fact, it seems the vast majority of teammate ABs go to full counts while I am on base with my RttS.
It also seems that my teammates strike out at an insane rate. I am batting leadoff or second for the Cubs and some combination of Rizzo, Bryant, Schwarber and Baez follow me and they are constantly leaving me on base by striking out.
I can't even count how many times I have got on base with no outs and then sat there for 5 minutes watching my teammates come up, go to full counts, foul off ball after ball and then strike out, one after another.
It actually makes me wonder if RttS teammate batting is scripted?
Or have I just been unlucky? Though I noticed this in previous years too.
Maybe it is the sliders I am using that does that? I always use Armor and Swords.
Despite that, I am still having fun (RttS is why I buy MLB the Show). Though kind of funny. This is the first year I was NOT going to play for the Cubs and just let someone draft me. Well, Cubs draft me...Xbox SX gamertag: Indrigoth, PS5 gamertag: Xaegoth, feel free to add me!

Re: Official MLB 17 : Road to the Show Thread
Still sitting behind Alex Gordon with my LF, who's batting .220. Moved to right field and even though I'm the highest rated, I'm still on the bench. It's like they're trying to kill my development. They won't trade me, so it looks like I'm gonna have to buy points to preserve my attributes. Through like 60 games, I've played 31 and have like 60 at bats. I don't understand how this consistently happens every year. It's so annoying.
