Re: Official MLB 17 : Road to the Show Thread

After leading AA in hits and stolen bases (second in batting average) my second baseman started 2018 on the Red Sox Bench. I struggled terribly to start the season but finally started hitting a little better and got my average over .200. Then I immediately injured my hand diving for a ball while playing SS. Luckily, it's just a bruise.

I'm also guessing that telling my agent I didn't see myself in Boston led to him pushing for a trade as I saw several odd Tweets. One said I would be a hot commodity during the offseason. Another said something like please don't trade him. That's a lot of interest for a struggling rookie hitting .218 on May 2nd.

I like what they've done with Pave Your Path but it has some rough edges.

I got called up and on the 2018 roster. But how do I call my agent? He hasn't called once for a month and a half. What if i wanted to be traded? How do I do this?

You just have to wait. That's what I mean about rough spots. I hope they bring back some of the old interactions you could initiate and merge them with the new features.

Re: Official MLB 17 : Road to the Show Thread

Started off as a center fielder but was asked to change positions and now playing in right field.

Was called up to Triple A in the Brewers organization right after the double A all star game, which I made. Was batting .308, 41 RBI, 12 SB, .870 OPS and 9 HR at the time.

After starting to play for the Sky Sox I had an interaction where I said I didn't really want to play for the Brewers...hopefully that leads to me being traded soon as I foresee a call up to the Show soon. The Brewers RF is currently a 68 overall and not doing very well. I'm currently a 67 overall and with about a month and a week to go in the season I'm batting .311, 18 RBI, 8 SB, 5 HR, .783 OPS. Expecting to be added to the 40 man roster at the end of the season at the latest. Really don't hope I do before then as I want a legitimate shot at rookie of the year

My player seems to have a knack for clutch situations having hit 3 grand slams (2 in AA, 1 in AAA) this season already and really performing well in run scoring opportunities. My first grand slam of the year in Double AA was also my first grand slam in The Show since 09.

Currently in quite a lengthy cold streak...my eye just kind of left me swinging at pitches I haven't been swinging at all year. Getting striked out a lot more and have been batting .268 the last 2 weeks.

They killed that option a couple years ago. I tried taking a low amount but kept getting denied. At one point when I was 99 ovr the lowest I could take was $20mil per year.

I had no issue getting my team to take me for ~750k-1 mil a year. From what I've seen it's not the dollar amount that'll make them balk, it's the length. As a 99 rated CF they wouldn't accept a 15 year at 1 mil per, but they did take a 6 year 500k per.

I really wish they'd either let teams take advantage of this by getting other good FA, or make the money DO something.

Re: Official MLB 17 : Road to the Show Thread

So after being drafted by the Yankees and being assigned to AA Trenton, I proceeded to destroy the cover off the ball. This all started after my manager came to me and asked me to move from 3B to RF. He told me it does not mean it is permanent but there is a big need in the organization for it.

I said “anything to help the team” as I love the Yankees and this is my dream team. This despite the fact Jay Buhner is in AAA and also tearing the cover off the ball. But not as good as me right now.

We are at the end of June and here are my numbers:

                  .317

                  21 HR’s

                  65 RBI’s

                  15 2B

I had a majestic performance in my last series. I actually hit 5 HR’s in one game. I was floored. I don’t have my sliders jacked up but I am using equipment boosts. I simply was in such zone that every ball I hit left the yard. The very next game I launched 2 HR’s.

                  I finished that 3 game set with 7 HR’s and 15 RBI’s.

Needless to say with Dave Winfield at 35 years of age, I see myself moving up to the big club within the next season or 2 for sure.

I was apprehensive about the move from 3B (my true life position since I was 12 years old lol) but RF has been a blast! I love playing the OF more than the infield in RTTS. A lot more action and far more exciting. I don’t see the club moving me back to 3B anytime soon if ever.

Currently my most famous future MLB teammates on the Thunder are:

                  Bernie Williams
                  Deion Sanders
                  Dan Pasqua
                  Hal Morris
                  Jim Leyritz
                  Al Leiter

I am so hooked on this mode. I agree it is rough around the edges on some spots and I am excited to see “Pave Your Path” evolve more and more going forward. But this is a great first step towards a great organic non linear career mode.

I am leading the All-Star Voting with more votes than any other player in AA. My star is shining bright early in my career and I am making the Yankees look like genius’s for taking a shot on me in the first round. I was thought of as a big reach on twitter, but the Yankees saw something special. So far so good!!!!

curious what you guys are using for sliders(if any)? I had been using dynamic difficulty for the majority of my time played in RTTS up until a week or so ago when I switched to Veteran hitting difficulty. At least for me, it's a good mix of being able to read the pitchers pitches, but still being able to be fooled on occasion. My only gripe(and even had this gripe on dynamic as well as All Star) is that I'm not hitting with much pop, and I'm not seeing much hit variation(I cant remember the last time I hit a double in the gap). Even with good timing on a fastball, alot of times it's a weaker grounder to SS or 3B or a lazy popfly to the outfield. Using directional hitting FWIW, and my contact and power stats are 70/65 as of right now. How do yall have your RTTS settings set up?

Just thought I'd repost this information as there is still some confusion about whether or not you can select your team in RTTS. You CAN select your team.

                      1. Go through the 1st showcase and then the draft.
                      2. You will be selected by a team, but when you get to the cut screen where you have the option to sign, opt to go back to college/jr. college.
                      3. Go the showcase again.
                      4. After you play the final (2nd) showcase game and you come out to the main screen, the option to select team will be just under and to the left of the enter draft option at the top.

Also want to post about the issue I see with many people being asked to play positions and then not being able to switch back. Will just post what worked for me and I've had this happen on 2 different RTTS saves.

When your coach 1st approaches you about changing position, choose all the "reluctant" options. You can't just refuse or you will be benched for a number of games. You also don't want to choose the "anything for the team" options. I chose all options where you question the move but don't outright refuse. The final option is usually the middle one and you will basically say to your coach that you will try it. He will then tell you to have fun with it and it will be 10 games or so. 10-15 games later you will be notified your switching back to your position. Choose the option where you tell your coach that you're glad it's over. I can't remember the exact dialogue. You will then get options that if you want to play an exclusive position to talk to your hitting coach about what you need to play those positons. I went through RF, CF, and LF. He basically tells you the strengths you need for each one.

Every time I've went through the sequence in this way I was moved back to the position I wanted to play and never moved again.

Anybody been able to consistently rob the HR this year? I've yet to do it....in previous versions you would do it on the final ring as the circle shrank... Can't seem to get timing down this year. I also have seen no wall climb animations....just the run and jump with glove over the wall.

LOL...I was so giddy the 1987 Yankees chose me...I was like...yes sir, anything to help the team win.

Thing is, I am pretty happy about the move so far. I am having more fun playing RF then I was 3B....but this is great information to have for future reference!!!

                            Great post.

Question to you though. I was told 10-15 games......I think I am about to pass that mark. Will I get the dialog to move back? Or has this been a permanent move for me.

He did tell me there was a big need in the organization for this position. Dave Winfield is 35 on the big club and really my only competition in RF is Jay Buhner (a great prospect himself).

The way it worked for me is after that 10-15 games I got moved back....there are 3 ways to respond after he tells you this. Mine I think was the middle option that basically says OK....glad it's over. That leads to more dialogue in reference to if you want to play one exclusive position you need to know the ins and outs, etc. You can choose any position to get that "info"/"training" in. It's basically your hitting coach telling you the strengths you need at each position.
