Re: Official MLB 17 : Road to the Show Thread

I just made a LF went to junior college for 1 year so I could have the option of getting drafted by my Cubs picked them and got drafted 2nd rd pick 30 as a 64ovr with B potential
I went to my Cubs because they need a true LF Schwarber is great but he can't play defense and I can replace him as an all around great LF with me Almora and Heyward in the OF our team will have 3 gold glove Outfielders
      It's currently 1 month into AA ball I am hitting 360avg with 5HRs 15rbis 15sb and 13runs
About how long will it take me to get promoted???

It's an interaction with your agent where he asks if everything is fine. You're response is the last one, at least on mine, that says "not at all" or "not in the least" or something like that.... the 1st option after that is "I'm just not feeling RF". Your agent tells you may be difficult to change if the team you're on thinks you're best in that position. Truthfully, it sucks. I do not like the non control. An example of one of the many reason's why - I play on Braves and we lost Ender Inciarte to a bulging disc for the season. We now have Clint Frazier n Travis Jankowski platooning in CF. My OF would be much better suited to move into that CF role...moving one of those guys to RF. With most of my fielding attributes close to maxed..it would be an all around better move anyway. I despise the wall at Suntrust in RF>

I don't exactly remember the conversations but I did get moved back to my original position (SS) so that made me happy. I just let them know, every step of the way that I did not want to switch.

Same for me. I think the key through the interactions is to always select the reluctant or resistant options. Never choose the "anything for team" answers.

The key to not getting your position changed is to spend your stubs on your fielding and arm.

The game thinks you should already be elite at the position you initially chose in order to play there in AA. It doesn't account for your development.

That may have worked for you.. didn't for me though. How "elite" is elite? Meaning how many points do those areas need? I had stubs that I poured into my player at the beginning right after showcase game. Didn't make a difference... I still got moved to 1b temporarily and then back.

My experience is that you have to be better than what's in place. They'll fit you where they can if you're not "fitting the mold" for your position. It seems the majority of the issues are defensive as the team almost always moves you to a position where defense is a secondary consideration, (LF, 1B, DH and to some extent 2B) if it's a consideration at all.

Another update for you all after my 12th year in the bigs, 6th with Seattle, (bunch of previous posts). Age 31 season. After winning the World Series in 2028, 2029 was not as magical, with the team finishing 4 games over .500 and in 3rd place.
However, it was a fantastic year for me, placing 2nd in MVP vote, winning 2nd silver slugger, leading the AL in SLG%, great finishes in most offensive categories, hitting over .300 for the first time, earning 8th All-Star Selection, 3rd time Home Run Derby Participant (loss in finals), 1500th MLB Hit, 1000th MLB RBI, reaching 342 career homers and 51.7 WAR.
                      * = Career best

99 OVR, Mariners, LF, age 31
                      - 6th straight year 30+ Home Runs
                      - 9th straight year 4+ WAR
                      - 2nd year 7.5+ WAR
                      - 4th year .380+ OBP

                      151 Gs

                      34 HRs (2nd AL)
                      104 RBIs (4th AL)
                      .304 AVG* (7th AL)
                      .382 OBP
                      .559 SLG* (1st AL)
                      .941 OPS (3rd AL)
                      76 BBs
                      109 Ks
                      41 2Bs*
                      7.6 WAR (3rd AL)

With my contact/power/fielding all still around 90 to 92, I hope I can keep killing it to make it to the Hall of Fame

Right, I was moved from ss to 3rd but they moved me back after a week. Had I not put my stubs in to my player I would have ended up in left field. I raised my defense to 75 arm 75 reaction 75 fielding and it was enough to keep me at that position.

Secondly I believe this is the developers ultimate goal to force us to buy stubs to upgrade our player to keep him at the position we want to play.

A yearly thing, a SP that's a knuckle baller. 58-62 MPH and when miss the batters look stupid. It's so fun. I also have a 2-seam (83mph) and 4-seam (86-87mph) fastball. One day I'm probably add a change up.. They promoted me just before the all star break. I only strike out about 5 a game but my walk ratio is really good.. But sometimes I have no idea where the pitches are going. I throw the KN about 80-85 of time..

4-1, with 6 saves total at AA and AAA, ERA about 2ish. Little high WHIP though.. I was using Dynamic, and now on HOF and they foul so many more pitches. It's getting much tougher. But I'm having a blast.

So my next game after the post above with the KN guy I threw 9.1 IP of a perfect game. I was on fire, good defense too. Then I gave up a hit and they took me out. My anemic offense finally won but damn..

I too made a knuckleballer. I have a KN, SNK, CIR, and just added a 4FB. I got put as a closer (which I had so much fun with) and then moved to MRP temporarely. I have been bouncing between starter and middle reliever through June in AA the first year. I am really having a blast with this pitcher.
