So, my CAP has two different overalls. One is 90, as seen on the Player Comparison and Training pages, but 86 on the lineup and card viewer. I have no special gear on either

I have to rant about something. I am so sick and tired of being called up WAY too soon. My guy is a 63 overall and now is a starting player in the Majors. Why? There is guys on the team that are better yet they promote me. I wish you had to actually earn being in the majors instead of the game forcing you in there.

Anyways, thats all I got. Thanks for reading!

The reason for this is because no one wants to work up to correctly (2 - 3 realistic years) or God forbid, never make it up to MLB. Look at all the whining on the forum right now. Some of it is pretty petty. They would complain that it takes to long to get up.

I'm with you though. You should have to seriously earn your way up. Don't trade a 91 ovr 1B away just to put a mid low 60's guys up just because it's me.

Im trying to put glasses on my player, both for batting and fielding, but he still doesn't have them on. Anyone have any idea?

Also tried changing the net on my glove during the creation it was greyed out N/A, and still cant change it, had no problems with my other players, anyone have any idea?

Kinda annoying to see that MLB seem to have a similar thing to 2K that during cutscenes and certain replays(team celebrating, parts of home runs etc) your player looks different. My player is 5'10 and really really fat aka fat Albert, but during those situations he looks 6'3ish+ and like he lost 1/3 of his weight.

Have you guys experienced teammates bunting in awful situations? I was on 2nd with 2 outs and my teammate dropped down a bunt, which the catcher fielded and threw him out, ending the game. This has happened to me multiple times

Just started up a Left Fielder, used his flex points to max out contact/power to five bars. Skipped the showcase and was drafted in the third round to the Phillies.

First game in AA and almost went for a cycle. Was thrown out at third being too aggressive.

4 for 5 with a HR, two doubles and a single. 4 RBIs.

              Playing on default HoF hitting.

Which position is the most action when it comes to defending? If you dont count Pitcher or catcher. I wanna do insane catches and throws. Aswell as many opportunitys as possible.

Also what is a realistic progress look like? Like how many years should you spend in AA and AAA? Trying to make it as realistic as possible.

                Thanks in advance!

Re: Official MLB 17 : Road to the Show Thread

Just got the game and started my career. Last played the '14 iteration, so I couldn't resume, had to start over.

I play 3B primarily, secondary position being SS. Archetype is a four-tool player with power being the least concern. That's generally the last thing I improve, though in my '14 career I managed to hit 40 HRs a couple seasons with the Cardinals.

Did maybe slightly better than average during the skills showcase. My batting didn't go so well due to my rust, but I managed to impress a bit more with my defense and speed. The games went slightly better and probably improved my stock the most, going 4 for 8 with three singles, a double, two RBIs, and a walk over the two games.

Ended up getting drafted by the Pirates in the first round (13th overall), but I was the third 3B off the board, which offended me greatly. The Top-10 of the draft was all pitchers except for one third baseman. I was pleased enough with that selection, however, so I ultimately decided to forego college and sign immediately with the Altoona Curve. This was a significant improvement over my draft position in the '14 version.

Only played the first game of the season thus far, but it was a freak episode. Ended up driving in the tying run in the top of the 9th with an RBI single. We went to extra innings with the Senators. It took 15 innings to win, 11-8. I got eight ABs in the game and managed seven hits--six singles and a triple. It was definitely the most hits I've ever had in a game. Overall a very strange opening to my career.

Re: Official MLB 17 : Road to the Show Thread

Finally got the game a couple days ago. Started a career as a 1B, which is what I played growing up. My secondary position is corner outfield so I could provide some versatility.
                      5 Power
                      5 Contact
                      3 Fielding
                      1 Arm
                      1 Speed

After the drills, I contemplated skipping the showcase games because I did really well. I was scouted as a 70 contact/power, 75 fielding with 30 speed and 40 arm.

In the first showcase game I went 2-4 with a double, and 2 runs. In the second game, I went 2-4 with a HR and 2 RBI.

I ended up getting drafted 16th overall to the Yankees. They currently have Greg Bird in AAA, and Chris Carter in the MLB, so that path looks blocked. I may have to end up moving to another team. Or Greg bird could DH and I play 1st. I would consider a move to the OF, but they already have Clint Frazier, Jorge Mateo, and Aaron Judge as their potential OF and two of them are already in the MLB.

I'm starting in AA, playing 1B and batting fifth. I went 1-4 with my first professional base hit.

Finished 2017, and while the Trenton Thunder missed the playoffs, I did pretty well. I was top-10 in numerous categories.

                          .294/.358/.418/.775
                          136 H
                          48 R
                          13 HR
                          61 RBI
                          16 2B
                          1 3B

I got a two-year contract to be the backup in the MLB for 2018! Hopefully I can stay in the MLB as AA pitching wasn't exactly easy. I had a .270-.280ish average for almost the entire year until I go really hot the last month of the season. I also drew 43 walks, which I was really pleased with.

The Dodgers beat the Yankees in the world series, so it's good to know I'll on a really good team.

We signde Yu Darvish so we have Darvish-Pineda-Severino as our first three starters. We also signed Dee Gordon to be our leadoff man. He splits time with Gleyber Torres and Starlin Castro at 2B/SS/DH they all pretty much play every day at those three positions. Chris Carter is still our 1B and Greg Bird is still in AAA to start 2018 so I guess I must have jumped ahead of Bird in the depth chart.

My goal for 2018 is to stay in the MLB the entire year, hit above .250 and 10 HRs, as my power is still developing. Also, eventually grabbing the starting 1B job from Chris Carter would be nice as well.

Hm. So I finshed year 2, and it went by pretty quickly due to the fact I only played in 27 games, and only 20-ish of them were starts at 1st Base. We traded Chris Carter and traded for Lucas Duda at some point, and Lucas also took a bench role and we called up Greg Bird to be the starter. Okay I had crazy good stats but never played consistently enouhg to lose my hot streak.

                            27 G
                            30 H
                            8 HR
                            21 RBI
                            2 SB
                            14 R
                            .411/.449/.808/1.257
                            3 2B
                            1 3B
                            .992 FLD% (1 E)
                            1.5 WAR

I'm kind of disappointed, as I barely got any training points and my stats stayed about the same, with some of my key stats like fielding and power dropping a little.

We went 86-76 and made the playoffs as the second wild card, which we won against the O's. We lost in the ALDS to the Red Sox 3-1. I didn't play at all in the playoffs. The Dodgers won the world series again against the Red Sox this time.

Then, as I'm simming the off-season, Joe Girardi calls me into his office and tells me I've been traded to the Nationals!
This is also kind of bull****, as there's no DH here and I'm blocked by Ryan Zimmerman.

I've literally played in about 5% of our games so far in 2019.

I like shortstop and center field. 3B is pretty fun, too. I usually get my guy into the show within the first season (often times, he goes straight from AA to the MLB), but that's only because I always trade for training points and start him out with 40,000 training points or so. So immediately, my guy is usually rated in the mid 80s. After that, it's just a matter of time. The only thing that keeps him down is if there is a solid guy at the MLB level in his position ahead of him. That'll prolong his stay in the minors for a bit, but I usually get up to the bigs at some point in the first season. I've never taken a guy from the base level of starting points and develop him purely through earned training points. My attention span is too fickle for that. haha
