    Re: PS4 vs PS4 pro

So I pulled the trigger on a Pro today even with a 2014 Sony with 4K but no HDR! I'm in the minority with 4K and no HDR. FIFA and Battlefield look noticeably better in 4K no HDR... can't wait for The Show. Probably get a new tv within the next year or two anyways.

      Nice!

FIFA is true 4K on the Pro. I dunno what resolution BF1 but it definitely looks great on Pro as well.

Enjoy your Pro with The Show!

According to videos that I have seen from the base PS4 and the Pro using HFR mode, that mode is still very much worth the framerate upgrade.

I think what we need is someone with a 1080p display and a Pro to make comparisons between the default visual mode, which presumably has downsampling built into it, and the HFR mode to see if there is any noticeable difference in image quality

Oh, so you think that the Pro version without HFR enabled is a possibly superior image? I never considered that a possibility.

It's my best guess because of the SCEA dev's comment that downsampling is built into 1080p. We've only seen HFR so far and not the default rendering mode

I have yet to see the comment, but I'll search for it.

Perhaps this also answers why we can't activate 1440p or 2160p resolution for supersampling on a 1080p native set.

so I was always told that if you don't have a 4k tv dont get a playstation 4 pro. is that still true? I have a 55 inch Samsung led tv 240mhz. should I get the playstation 4 pro or keep the playstation 4 till I can get a 4k tv?

It was always a fallacy that the PS4 Pro doesn't benefit 1080p users. That was never accurate. The question is how much is that benefit worth to you? It's not the same for everyone.

Honestly your question hard to answer.

Do you value higher framerate in certain games, or improved image quality in others? Or in some cases, both?

It took a while but I knew you would. It always just starts with the questions, then the purchase is inevitable lol.

Preemptive congrats. You'll enjoy the Pro, even more so when you get around to buying the 4K TV.

I just want the best gaming experience you know. if getting the playstation 4 pro will give me the best experience I get it. but I want to make sure I am getting that experience without a 4k tv. cuz my tv is still fairly new and I won't be in a market for a new tv no time soon.

                          Yeah, I understand

Honestly I don't know what to say anymore. I feel like I've written a dissertation throughout the last 6 months regarding the Pro and at this point am just continuously spinning my wheels and repeating myself.

I can't tell you that 1080p gaming on the Pro will blow you away consistently. The clear cut benefits are for 4K display users.

Gaming on my 1080p monitor has been awesome but that's just me. Results vary game to game. Dishonored 2 offers very little benefit for 1080p users but most other games do.

For The Show; how important is high framerate mode to you? That's seems like the draw for 1080p displays using a Pro for this game

So then it doesnt pay for me to get a Pro since I have a LG 1080p TV?

Will colors look better on Pro? Cuz sounds like Alternate jerseys are still washed out.
