That would be real low of Sony to do that. I doubt the gap between the Pro and Scorpio is even that big. I just find it weird that they would be discussing a slimmer pro after it hasn't even been out for a year. I'll be a little salty if that's the case...

A lot of is gonna depend on the CPU of Scorpio. CPU is what bottlenecks these consoles. The Pro has enough GPU power to be relevant for years but CPU is a crappy outdated laptop CPU from like 5 years ago. That's why we still get frame dips in games like Batman Arkham City even with boost mode enabled

The one thing I'm waiting to see from MS is what they upgrade in regards to CPU for Scorpio

Bottom line is that I'll be happy with HFR mode this year on my Pro and I guess I'll worry about what's next when we get there

There are bad upgrades like Batman: Return to Arkham, ones that do barely anything like Overwatch, and great ones like Rise of the Tomb Raider, Horizon and so on.

Any game that offers options starts off on the right foot.

        Also, forgot to add this

I've sent DF messages on the Eurogamer site just politely asking them to take a look at Show 17, pointing out that it's true 4k and has mystery surrounding the downsampling at 1080p. I dunno if they even see the messages but I'm hoping both those factors interest them enough to give a rundown of this game.

I also know some of the DF guys frequent GAF and Show 17 has been mentioned a couple times over there so hopefully it's on their radar

I sent a message to one of them on Twitter and they said it was a possibility.

Don't get me wrong, enhanced visuals mode is smoother but you lose a certain clarity in the picture from what I could tell anyways. I know a majority of guys will probably stick to the higher framerate but man 4K HDR is a sight to see.
This is one thing I am super curious to see/read about on here come Tuesday, how many guys with 4k sets prefer the true 4k image, vs the 1440p image and enhanced frame rate of "enhanced visuals" mode. I wonder if it will be an even split or lean one way over the other.

It is pretty impressive that the game offers true 4k resolution at a playable framerate

              Re: PS4 vs PS4 pro

I have a 4K TV and my understanding is that the 1440p "enhanced visuals" mode runs similarly to the PS4 Amateur at 1080p.

Going from 1080p to 1440p, that's about a 70% increase in pixel count overall for the same performance. I've always felt that The Show on PS4 was an overly jaggy game with distracting aliasing on distant structures, wires and even on the bat itself. There are certainly cleaner looking PS4 games.

So perhaps on franchise I'll keep it on 1440p and online I'll keep it on high frame rate in case there's a boost to my own performance. If not, I might just use 1440p all the time.

I won't be playing with HDR as it causes a significant jump in input lag on my TV.

Edit: I would definitely consider 4K if it can sustain 30 FPS, but my feeling is that there's going to be a lot of judder as it hovers under and over 30 FPS. I would certainly appreciate a frame rate lock at 30.

After I saw this discussion yesterday I went out and traded in my PS4 for a PS4 Pro at Gamestop. Since I have the pro card I got $25 extra trade-in credit for a total of 195. Maybe not the best use of money since I'm on a 1080p TV, but I intend to play The Show at high framerates for the first time since the PS3 version.

Yea I see GS is offering $195 with the bonus... Wonder how long that is running for? I guess Im more worried about them lowering trade in value of OG PS4.

That's probably about as good a deal as you're gonna get from GS

Hasn't the game run at 60fps since MLB 14? It may be that the 'High Frame Rate' mode is a locked 60fps and standard is unlocked 60.

                        Didn't own 14 on PS4. I forget about 15's framerate.

MLB '16, though? Absolutely not 60 FPS. Not even close (likely 30). I just popped it in yesterday. No motion blurring techniques involved either.

Based on some 60 fps twitch streams and YouTube videos, the game is not a locked 60 fps on PS4 pro in my opinion. The crowd is still bringing down the frame rate. Yes, I verified that the description stated high frame rate mode.

I know of no frame rate tests for this series on regular ps4, but I don't think it hits 60 fps unless you are looking at the sky.

Pro Mode enhancements are ENTIRELY up to the developer.

Some devs include options, like in Tomb Raider you can choose between high framerate, 4k downsampling, and enhanced visual effects.

Some games don't offer options but just do their thing automatically, like Titanfall 2 downsamples 1440p resolution to 1080p displays and keeps the framerate locked at 60.

                                It varies game to game.

2k17 offers true 4k and 60fps (for most camera angles, I believe). With a 1080p display you will get the framerate and a downsanpled 4k image for improved clarity.

We do not yet know what Madden will do with their Pro enhancements.

                                Each game is different.

Every game launched since the Pro was released, and every game released from here on out, will have Pro Mode included but what that Pro Mode offers 1080p displays will vary. In cases like Overwatch, Diablo 3, and Dishonored 2, they don't offer much at all.
