Is this actually the case? Ive read conflicting views, but this stutter vs non stutter and the 10 times better statement is the most vivid and has taken me a back a bit.

I barely play my PS4, so investing in a 4K TV and a PS4 Pro is nonsensical to me, so im hoping that the game holds up on the standard PS4 on a 1080p TV.
I ended up being confusing. My point was about the quality of streams. Millennium during his stream talked about the difference in terms of framerate and suggested us to look for regular ps4 streamers (naming everyone of them) to check the game quality on regular PS4 (cause we were asking him about the difference). I went to check them, and what i'm seeing is a HUGE difference. So my question essentially was...

Is that difference because of the streaming hardware (maybe OS has a better game capture systems and a better connection)? Or is just the best frame rate of the PS4 Pro?

Only games looked with our own eyes will tell...

      The Show is native 4K.

And you aren't going to get the pro patch if you don't have a pro so you won't get the benefits of patched games.

So does anyone know if its downsampling for 1080p displays on the Pro?

Is it true that enhanced mode is only for 4k displays?

          OK thanks for clarifying.

Im sat with the game in my cart, its been a 50/50 for me for a while, as I didnt play 16 enough to justify it or even 17 based on that.

The graphic enhancements look really good from the previews and that change gives a fresh feeling to the game, so if a bog standard PS4 cant handle that, then im back on the waiver wire

Enhanced mode is only for 4k

Downsampling for 1080p was mentioned by a dev on this site but we don't know for sure yet

I am moving this over from the Q and A thread as it didn't feel appropriate over there

I tried my best not to respond to this. There are like 5 threads dedicated to visual settings/PS4 pro/4k vs 1080 type talk and I don't want to bring that discussion over here too.

That being said, I just feel compelled to point this out:

I disagree with you, but you aren't necessarily wrong.

Objectively speaking: there are two groups that people that benefit most from Pro

Those with 4k/HDR monitors (definitely upgrade), or 4k non-HDR displays (strongly consider the upgrade).

1080p gamers, it gets complicated. I can definitely see how you could consider it a waste, but I would like to think that in return you could see how someone like me would consider it great upgrade. The downsampled image in Titanfall 2 on my 1080p display rivaled the image quality of the game running on my PC. I switched back and forth between the two and was amazed. Deus Ex is clearly improved, image quality wise, with downsampling from its Pro Patch on a 1080p display.

These benefits are NOT universal on 1080p displays. It varies heavily game to game. So, yeah, you aren't wrong. The clear benefits are for 4k HDR users, but I think whether it is a waste, or worthwhile, for 1080p uses is entirely subjective and just depends on the gamer.

                  What are you reading/watching?

I am not gonna try to convince you its worth it. If you feel it isn't then it probably isn't, for you. It's very dependent on the gamer when it comes to 1080p benefits.

Just don't let anyone tell you it does nothing on 1080p because that's a flatout lie. There are clear benefits for 1080p users, but it isn't as cut and dry as 4k and 4k/HDR displays benefits. It's a tricky conversation

Here is an example of Nioh being compared between base PS4 1080p and PS4 Pro 1080p

clear difference in aliasing, the down sampling is a much clearer image

You can look up the difference in games like Titanfall 2 as well.

The research is out there. Downsampling is a real benefit. It just isn't handled the same in every game

There is also the advantage that the Boost mode brings to older games like Bloodborne etc.

The Problem is there is no real standard and as you say, its a game by game, developer by developer basis.

I just hope that a Sony owned studio like San Diego utilised it to full effect.

Do NON 2.2 1080p display owners benefit from a 1440p rendering to 1080P so that the image looks cleaner like in NBA 2k17?

Or is allthat us 1080p users GET is higher framerate option and are stuck with the base PS4 visuals and anti aliasing and resolution of 1080p?

                          We don't know yet

Nobody has done comparisons for us between the default visual mode and HFR to see if downsampling is present in either one

The only question Tomba and many of us have is if the game provides a downsampled image for 1080p displays. Chris_SCEA mentioned it somewhat vaguely

It could be only in default visual mode, or in HFR mode as well, or not there at all

This saddens me to NO end....

The fate of me keeping the ps4 pro hinged SO MUCH on playing MLB the 17 in a downsampled state without having to buy a 4k TV.

A 4k tv right now is WAY out of my situation (its like "Can someone buy tomba a 65 inch 4k tv?")

After playing Zelda on Switch Horizon was NO LONGER a interest and me keeping a PS4 was only for MLB The Show now
