IRL I wonder how many hitters have come up in their last at-bat needing just the single to complete the feat, hit one into the gap or down the line and continue on for a double and how many stop at first. In my mind stopping is as bad as anything Shoeless Joe or Pete Rose ever did.

back completely on-topic, as for other white whales I cant remember ever turning an unassisted double-play, but I'm sure I must have. I need to see if I can do it again.
But it cant be easy. *shrug*
Not as bad as taking yourself out / not playing the last game of the season in order to win the batting title a la Jose Reyes ... Ted Williams went 6/8 in a double header to break .400 for hecks sake!

Re: What is your "White Whale" in the Show?

This is going to be weird. I assume I've played somewhere around 5,000 games of MLB The Show. In all of those games I've never been on the receiving end of a no hitter.

I think that would be a pretty crazy thing to experience. Last night it almost happened against Jesse Hahn but I broke it up after 8 1/3 innings. To experience something like that legitimately, I feel would be pretty different.

I am lucky I guess with the perfect game, I threw one with Kyle Lohse on a super random one off play vs. CPU game I did just because one day I really wanted to use my Cardinals. I play fantasy draft franchise mode all day and night, but this one was a regular old Cardinals vs. Phillies Perfect game. I believe it was MLB 14.

My white whale is I'd like to get through a season. I love baseball and managing so much, I always see a highlight reel of a player in real life, and then really want them on my team, so I draft another team and forget about the first one. I used to play/sim through like 30 years of a franchise no sweat. I guess I've become soft.

Pretty much what happened for me my third perfecto. My first perfect game was with Cliff Lee against the Mets in 2011. My second was Clayton Kershaw against the Padres in 2012. My third was just a game where I randomly decided to play as the Yankees against the Red Sox in 2014 and picked CC Sabathia. This was when he was like a 74 overall during his 5+ ERA season. Threw 120 pitches or something like that and only struck out 3. Grimiest perfect game I've pitched. Just got my fourth perfect game a week ago with MadBum against Arizona. And as I'm typing this I just realized all my perfect games were with left handed pitchers.

Well I got good news. I got my 4rth perfect game about 6 games ago, my first with a righty. So I guess that's what's next for you! That's how this works right?

He was a sophomore who struggled and started in the pen for the season, then earned his way into the 5 spot in early June. First start he struggled mightily, but his second... perfect game. Throwing with a lot more confidence now.

I really want to break Barry Bonds' OPS record. I've never been able to do it. I got to around 1.200 on MLB 16, with an OPB of about .480, but it's so difficult to get the walks. I've broken just about every batting record, but never that OPS.

There's also a perfect game, I've never thrown one on the Show, but I had 2 on MLB 2K13, 1 with AJ Burnett and the other with I believe Jon Lester. I don't really care about anything pitching wise though, I play RTTS as a batter every year and dabble in franchise.

That's quite ambitious. I'll never achieve that white whale lol. Unless maybe I modify the sliders so solid hits and power are maxed. Haha.

I'm gonna try it again when I max out my current RTTS guy. Right now his skills are nowhere near good enough to get near that OPS. Probably take me a couple more seasons to max him out, I play 60 or so games a year. I'll play every game that year.

I've always wanted to break the single-season hit streak. I've never really come close nor do I play every game but I think that would be fun to do.

I had a 47 game hit streak in mlb 2k13, I was on a pretty low difficulty tho and my dude was maxed. My best in the Show is like 15.

I finally got my cycle for the first time (on All-Star) and have been playing for many years. I actually was working toward 2 in the same game with Trey Turner and Stanton. I missed out on the double for Stanton and thought I had missed Turned but forgot about a seeing eye single in the first. Now I guess my white whale is a 57 game hitting streak. In MVP Baseball 2005 I had a 56 game hitting streak in a shared couch season with a buddy. Only for the file to corrupt before starting game 57. Has bugged me to this day.

Bringing this thread back, as a few things have been on my mind:

                            1. Turn a triple play

                            2. Hit a HR with a pitcher

                            3. Hit for the cycle
                            Currently Playing:
                            MLB The Show 25 (PS5)

                              2. Breaking the consecutive hit streak

If you play on hall of fame and don’t max out or cheat somehow I think both would be impossible

I finally hit for the cycle last night with my RttS player...first time ever in any edition of The Show, going back to 09.

I had the homer, triple and single going into my last at bat. Hit a solid ground ball hit past the diving second baseman toward the right field gap. I rounded 1st base, chugging for second no matter what. Thankfully, the right fielder had the ball slip past him for a moment, and I slid safely into second with the El Ciclo.
