Re: Your White Whale
Re: What is your "White Whale" in the Show?
This thread is making me feel like some kind of MLB The Show savant. I've had a no hitter, a perfect game, and hit for the cycle in my first big league game back in whatever the first PS2 version that had Road to the Show was. The thing that has always eluded me is playing an entire season in RttS because I'm always playing franchise instead. I have a good feeling about 16 though!Comment

Re: What is your "White Whale" in the Show?
Taking a RTTS character through a whole career.
They have helped out a lot this year by cutting down on the downtime between games and even between fielding/batting attempts.
Every year though I seem to start a new guy. for 15 it was a new center fielder. I have enjoyed him so far and may continue with him. He is a base stealer though but I have honestly grown tired of having base running opportunities turned on. base running can easily double, triple or even quadruple the length of one game in RTTS.
The other detriment is wanting to try other positions. through the years I have played 2nd, 1st (twice), CF, SP and Closer. I was thinking about maybe trying SS or 3B this year.Comment

If you can get past innings 4 through 6...I'll always cruise until these innings..Then the cpu likes to be cunning..A perfect game is the main thing I still want to accomplish. I finally threw a no hitter last year with Kevin Gausman but I walked a guy late in game to lose my perfect game.
Does anyone else mute the TV when they realize they got a no hitter going? If I notice I have going after about three or four innings, I will mute the TV so I don't jinxed by the announcers. LOL.Comment

Re: What is your "White Whale" in the Show?
I've never taken an RttS player to retirement. The closest I've come is with MLB '08. I think I got him up to like the age of 32. I've never actually seen what happens when your RttS player retires. With the yearly release and having to start over each year, it was pretty impossible to do that. Now with the ability to move over to the next year's game, I know I can do that finally.
I can't really think of anything else I haven't done. I only play RttS so I've been able to do the normally things most people say they haven't done (hit for cycle, pitch a perfect game, etc.) I would really love to walk 200 times in a season ala Barry Bonds but I'm not sure how realistic that is.Last edited by dalger21; 03-02-2016, 01:52 PM.est 1978

Re: What is your "White Whale" in the Show?
I'm halfway through my 2016 season with the Braves in the franchise I started in MLB 14. I have played every game except for the Allstar game. The year to year saves have made this easier for me to hang in there. I have almost talked myself into to turning quick counts off now. I give myself a break from my franchise with my RTTS player in which I have just gotten into my second season in it. ABSOLUTLEY no questions asked that this is the best baseball title ever IMO. This coming from a used to be die hard X-Box fan. I would like to thank 2K for opening my eyes when they left us die hards without the baseball option LOL. Otherwise I would be missing out on a great game!!Playing all 162 with a single team. I make it through plenty of full seasons, but I sim games quite a bit. And then start over with new roster. Or change my mind about what team I'm using. It isn't just that I don't finish a full season, it's that when I do finish a full season, I've only played 1/4 to 1/2 of the games and simmed the rest.
Going to try and play all 162 with the Cubs this year using opening day rosters.Comment

I've played a whole season and I've thrown a no-hitter (with a couple of walks, so no perfecto for me yet).
My white whale would be not starting over. Get the game, start a season/franchise and roll with it. For some reason, I always tend to start over a few times each year.Comment
