Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread

Hey guys, usually I'm pretty big on these but I just got to the All-Star break in my franchise. I am the D Backs and I was competing, but a couple big injuries to Jake Lamb and Walker have plummeted us out of the WC race, as we went from 6 wins over .500 to 2 wins under in abut three weeks.

Looking to shop Goldy. Not sure what his value should be because he is having an unreal season, .330 average ,16 HR's, 43 RBI's. Maybe not quite the power you'd expect but I don't know what playoff team wouldn't want a .330 hitter in the lineup.

Teams in contention (Potential suitors) : Marlins, Mets, Cards, Jays, KC, Red Sox (lost Hanley for over a month)

Also looking to sell Shelby Miller. He's been pretty good, 2.85 ERA, 91 K's, and a 6-5 record.

Teams: Marlins, Jays, Rays (lead AL east by 1 over BOS and TOR), KC

Let me know what I should be looking for in general in a trade, and maybe any ideas from certain teams.

Baseball: Chicago White Sox, Pittsburgh Pirates
    Basketball: Chicago Bulls
    Football: Chicago Bears
    Hockey: Chicago Blackhawks
    College Sports: University of Oregon

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread

      Wow, 84 pages!

So I'm torn between playing with the Braves or the Orioles for my Franchise once Hybrid is out. Maybe some of the new ratings will help me make up my mind. Other option is to control both and try and win with the O's first.

I'm a pretty big fan of both of these teams but still wondering if anyone can give me some realistic moves that might be made this year?

If the O's can compete, is there any way for them to grab some starting pitching help in 2017 or 2018 latest? And/or an athletic outfielder?

I traded for Quintana in my Pirates franchise in 2016 but I'm not sure the O's could pull that off. And what do they do in 2018 if they aren't a lock for a division title? When do they blow it all up?

Since the Braves will not even be a .500 club in 2017, what could they realistically get for Garcia, Dickey, Colon, Philips (assuming they are playing well)? I don't see the CPU giving any value the the later three guys but IRL there is a chance you get a prospect or two if you can find the right team.

2019 free agent pool is exciting! Any chance either of these teams could be in the running for Matt Harvey or Dallas Keuchel? I'm sure I could clear enough room to offer Machado and Harper but how would I spin that? No chance either of those guys signs with either of these teams?

      Any other ideas?

What do you guys think it would take to get pitchers like Danny Salazar, James Paxton, Lance McCullers, and Steven Matz to the Athletics? I'd like to include Madson in the deal but I'm not married to the concept.

Look at it this way, Madson would be at best the 3rd reliever on Cleveland, 2nd on Seattle, 3rd on Houston and 3rd on the Mets. He doesn't have a ton of value to those teams and it doesn't make sense to trade away a key piece of your rotation for bullpen fodder. To get any of those guys it will cost you a ton. Like your upper end prospects like Barretto, Puk, etc. All of these guys are cost controlled starters. That's a valuable commodity. Others in here can weigh in but you're gonna have to pay up and it doesn't really make sense for any of those teams to trade away core pieces of their rotation.

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread

In my Pirates franchise I'm in the first part of May and I'm 15-10 with a 0.5 game lead in first. Mariners are in 2nd place and a couple games back. Mariners are looking for SP and they have Haniger on the block for some reason. They will accept a trade for AJ Schugel and a mid prospect but I know that isn't too realistic.

I then would have to trade McCutchen but I also have Meadows in the MiLB so I wouldn't necessarily need Haniger. So I went shopping McCutchen to see what teams are offering and the White Sox would accept McCutchen for Quintana and Zack Collins. I know that isn't too realistic either. They are in 2nd place but in the wild card lead. I saved my franchise and then made the trade to see what would happen. Because right now they have Tyler Saladino for the DH batting .240 but they put McCutchen on the bench. I play 30 team control so I can move him. But the fact that the White Sox put McCutchen on the bench makes me feel horrible if I made that trade.

But I think its too early to make a big trade. I did lose Kang for 2 months for a broken finger and he was my top HR guy. I'm near the bottom of the league for HR.

If you're wanting to be realistic, you're right, that trade makes no sense. The White Sox wouldn't make that trade even if McCutchen was in his prime. They're not trying to win-now, they're trying to build up so they have the kind of farm that generates a current Cub team.

Also, if we're really being realistic, Kang wouldn't even be playing.

Take a look at the OS Realistic Trades Log in my signature. We just got done (I'm doing a DBack 'Chise) completing trades for Goldschmidt, Pollock, Greinke and Walker.

What could I fetch for Markakis (with 1 year left on his *too pricey** deal)

                  Thanks!

For some reason, I do not like pitching with Craig Kimbrell in Boston. I would like to move him and get a good closer who will step right in.

Any thoughts about a fair trade?

You could get prospects. And you could use Thornburg, Joe Kelly or Carson Smith if you don't want to flip prospect for a different team's closer

In my Red Sox franchise I trade for Tony Watson from Pittsburgh, and although I don't use him as my closer he's listed as a closer. He's a lefty wit a filthy sinker.

So to go with what Gamecocks said above, you could flip Kimbrel for a package of prospects and then use some of those prospects to get Watson from Pittsburgh.

Value-wise you're looking at somewhat near a S.Miller to ARZ type of package. Not as good but close and Davies can't be included as we just gave him to you.
