Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
What sort of value do you put on Joey Votto? The guy is great, but his contract is a bit of a millstone around the Reds neck for the foreseeable future and looks risky given the length. Are we talking about a hug haul including a top prospect or two, or more like young major league talent with controllable years?
Most of contender teams are set on 1B and/or DH so not sure what haul would you get IRL and from who or they already have hefty salaries. Red Sox maybe? Texas? Toronto? Rockies?Mets? (last 3 are kinda stretch).
Mets, Astros or Nats could be realistic destination , if you take one of their underachieving (or aging) high contracts in addition of 2 prospects.(ex Conforto, Smith(or Rosario) & some contract like Duda/Edgin/Harvey)
Teams with real need at 1B are mostly ones that don't trade for player of his age and salary (Oakland/maybe TB).Last edited by tariq071; 04-27-2017, 10:31 AM.Comment

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Playing as the Red Sox, really looking to move Stephen wright somewhere and fill his spot with another reliever who I could get some years out of. Not sure where to start as I haven't kept up on baseball in years and finally had the time to get the show this year.
My question is, who are some good options to trade wright for that would have decent age and I could get 2-3 solid years out of? Don't need prospects for the RP position.

A guy I like in the FA list is P.Rodriquez. Young'ish' lefty with decent ratings you can sign to a 2 yr deal with a 3rd team option. He should fit your needs and all he'll cost is a little money (600k /yr?)."for love of the game" - B. ChapelComment

Good news is you have an internal replacement in Bellinger. If A-Gon is struggling, you could always bring him up, not like another dead money contract would kill the Dodgers of all teamsComment

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
He doesn't want to wave his NTC IRL, but let's say if he does , who would realistically need him so badly to part ways with 2-3 A & B prospects?

It would leave them with a slightly comical amount of money owed to first basemen over the next 5 years, but I just thought Votto would perfectly compliment Trout and his contract might make him just a bit cheaper to get than anyone else of his calibre? I figured he'd still be out of their price range prospect wise, but figured I'd ask.Comment

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
To be honest, I was thinking about the Angels next year, with that Josh Hamilton money finally coming off the payroll. I figured having him batting ahead of Trout would be pretty terrifying, but they'd struggle to come up with the prospects to make the deal happen, unless they trade away someone first or draft very well.

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Hey guys - so the Mets are approaching the all star break in 2018 and I'm currently 2.0 GB of the Marlins. Record is 47-28. I'm definitely "all in" this year after losing in the wildcard game last year. My bullpen is super shaky and I'm looking to add an arm.
I'm thinking Trevor Rosenthal of the Cardinals, who currently sit at 33-43 and 12.5 out of first and 9.5 out of the wildcard. They signed Kenley Jansen last offseason and Rosenthal is in their 8th inning role for a team that's not looking to make the playoffs.
His 2018 Stats - 30.0 IP | 2-0 | 12 BB | 35 SO | 2.70 ERA | 1.10 WHIP
In return, I'm thinking of giving up:
1B Dominic Smith: 72 ovr | B Potential | 22 Years old | AAA | ETA 2018
2017 MLB Stats: 247 AB | .275|.320|.462 | 12 HR | 40 RBI | 17 BB | 41 SO
2018 AAA Stats: 130 AB | .262|.359|.346 | 2 HR | 12 RBI | 20 BB | 26 SO
Dominic Smith is the #1 prospect within the Mets organization (according to me as objectively as possible. I'll admit I'm far from an expert). He was a big part of our wild card push during his September call up and earned himself a playoff spot. He was poised to be my starting first baseman this year, but we signed Eric Hosmer to a five year deal. With Hosmer blocking him, he's a prime candidate to be traded. Smith is a gap to gap hitter and has an excellent glove at first base. He projects as a gold glove winner and potential future all star.
3B/1B Jhoan Urena: 71 ovr | B Potential | 23 years old | AAA | ETA 2020
2018 AAA Stats: 288 AB | .253|.299|.427 | 11 HR | 34 RBI | 7 SB | 19 BB | 73 SO
Jhoan Urena is the #5 prospect within the Mets organization. He's a switch hitting third baseman, but can also play first in a bind. He bats better from the left side. He's got a good glove and a good arm from the hot corner. His ceiling is an every day third baseman who will get you 20 HR and bat .280, but I can see him turning into a utility infielder.
RF Steven Hendrickson: 67 ovr | B Potential | 20 Years old | AAA | 2021
2018 AAA Stats: 258 AB | .260|.332|.360 | 5 HR | 22 RBI | 19 SB | 26 BB | 60 SO
Steven Hendrickson is the #9 prospect within the Mets organization. He's got plus speed and has a gun for an arm, but needs to improve his ball tracking in the outfield. He lacks the ability to drive the ball but being only 20 he'll hopefully fill out with age. He projects as an every day leadoff hitter, but needs to see his defense and discipline at the plate improve before he gets to the majors.
What do you guys think? Do I need to throw something else in there to make the deal better? In my eyes, the Cardinals get back a potential future all star and two potential every day players, but again I'm not an expert so any thoughts are welcomeComment

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
I have a couple questions for curiosity sake though... Did Urena actually make the OSFM roster or is he your creation? To be rated as a B POT when he's still in A ball this year (though I looked him up and he's raking early) and a fringe top 20 in the NYM farm this year...just surprised to see it. Also, I'm going to assume Hendrickson is your 1st/2nd round draft pick from '17? Never heard of him and couldn't find him when I went looking.
Regardless, at the end of the day, good deal."for love of the game" - B. ChapelComment

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Assuming I haven't screwed up my service time again, Rosenthal should be a FA at the end of the year which will classify him as a rental. The package you have listed is fair value as is a good deal for both teams.

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
What's would I have to give up value wise to get Kevin gausman? I'm a month in and he's got a 3.94 era on a sub 500 orioles team. For some reason I pitch amazing with him and was looking to pick him up.
Thanks

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Ha wow sorry super into the draft can't believe I forgot to put that, I'm playing as the brewers.
Perez and broxton aren't getting a lot of playing time and I can't pitch at all with Davies or Nelson if that helps at all.
I guess I'm going more for fair trade value as opposed to realism just for the simple fact that I really like pitching with him.
