Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Well considering I wouldn't trade Russell for Martes + Tucker that leaves me evaluating Paulino ++ against De La Cruz and Candelario
Russell is 23 so we can expect him to improve slightly going forward. He was 3.9 WAR last year so I'll conservatively give him a value of 4 WAR per year for the next 4.5 years.
18 WAR x $10 million= $180 million minus $50 (guessing high on salary since he will be a Super 2. That makes him $130 million in value
So Surplus wise its basically
Martes: $34
Tucker:$38
Paulino: $14
Total: $86
vs.
Russell:$130
Candelario: $20
De La Cruz: $14
Total: $164
The Cubs offer is almost double in value.
Also, last year Dave Cameron had Archer at #21 in his chart and Russell at #31 http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/2016-...value-1-to-10/Comment

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
That's probably the most intriguing option yet. But you really think the Rays would part with Archer without Baez, or Jiminez? Russell hasn't had a great year for me.
It looks like Alex Cobb may be my best option until I can sign another pitcher.
Is there a list anywhere of up-coming free agents (other than the screed that has 3 players randomly populate)? I could definitely make it through 2017 without having to have another arm. But starting in 2018 I will have three open slots in the rotation.

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Looking for some in advice in trading away Iwakuma in my Mariners franchise. I just can't get the feel for him, leading to a 5-7 record with a 4.74 ERA. I'm sitting on July 19th, so looking to deal at the deadline, and have targeted both the Rockies and Pirates as trade partners as both are within 4 gb of a wildcard spot and have a rotational need and can use Iwakuma as a second half rental to make a playoff push.
I have identified a few prospects from each team that are in the B-C potential range but as I don't know too much about these players in their respective systems, I want advice. Let me know if a good Iwakuma deal could be made of these players or any other prospects to look at that'd make sense.
Rockies:
R. McMahon - 3B
S. Navin - C
H. Rodriguez - P
A. Balog - P
Pirates:
Y. Garcia - P
J. Osuna - LF
C. Simpson - 1B
E. Weiss - 2B
tl;dr Looking to trade Iwakuma to NL contender for prospects. I'm in contention too, just wanna get something for Iwakuma before FA as I don't plan to resign.Comment

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
So I'm at July 17th in my blue jays franchise and I'm looking to add a backup catcher before the deadline. I currently have Luke Maile has my backup as like real life but he has been awful. He is batting .148 in 17 games. I have a list of guys I like and I would like to know if they are realistic options or not and what it would take to obtain them.
Geovany Soto- .259/.328/.498 18 HR 36 RBI. White sox are 7.5 games back in division and 9 back in wildcard.
Kurt Suzuki- .275/.348/.296 0 HR 15 RBI.
Tyler Flowers- .230/.303/.339 6 HR 31 RBI
Would it be realistic for Atlanta to trade one of these guys? Atlanta are 6.5 GB in division.
Alex Avila- .282/.379/.481 6 HR 26 RBI
James McCann- .240/.300/.385 7 HR 32 RBI
Would it also be realistic for the tigers to trade one of these guys? They are just 1.5 GB in division.
Finally Boston in my franchise traded for Stephan Vogt... they now have 4 MLB ready catchers on their roster. Vogt, Vazquez, Leon are all on the MLB team but swihart is stuck in AAA. Any chance I can get either Leon or Vazquez? Does Vazquez still have lots of value or no?
Sandy Léon- .241/.315/.289 0 HR 3 RBI. 29 G
Christian Vazquez- .357/.375/.787 2 HR 3 RBI. Just 7 games (14 AB)
Thanks for the help.
Again, I'm sorry if I bumped it early and i would appreciate any helpComment

I think I replied to something similar to this a while ago. Give them Almora Jr instead. They have a ton of corner IF types. Add in a lotto ticket and you're good. So Almora Jr + Lotto ticketComment

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Here are some moves I'm thinking about making for CPU teams at my trade deadline. Let me know if any are completely out of whack.
Cardinals trade RHP Alex Reyes and CF Harrison Bader to the White Sox for LHP Jose Quintana and 3B Todd Frazier.
Thought process: Cardinals need a starter and an upgraded third baseman for a playoff push. The White Sox are reloading with young talent.
Blue Jays trade C Reese McGuire and LHP Chad Girolo to Royals for CF Lorenzo Cain.

Would a trade of Bruce and Wheeler for McCutchen be ok?
