Thanks man. That's pretty much how I felt when they proposed the trade. But it did get me thinking. Franco would definitely be a great value for them (particularly if he can find his power stroke again), but Devers may end up being a similar player when it's all said and done (maybe a bit more consistent bat, lesser defense). All the real life grumblings with state of the Phillies has me considering blowing things up. I've thought about including Neris (Sox desperately need a pen arm) for a package of Devers, Jay Groome and a third lesser piece. I dunno. Really just happy to see the computer offer me a smart trade for once!

    Thanks again for your input.

Needless to say the Injury slider went down a notch after this one.

Anyway I know I am only three games into the season but do you guys have any suggestions of guys I can target in a trade? Assuming the Tigers and Royals struggle out the gate would Cain or JD Martinez could I afford to acquire those guys? Or should I stick to guys a tier below them?
Melky Cabrera should be really easy to acquire.

Oakland's ace appears to be back to All-Star form, which would cause a seismic shift of the market for contenders like the Cubs, Yankees and Astros.

        Gray won't be cheap either

But again, let's keep in mind he's had an average year in my game. But still, I agree that it would take more than Baez.

So what do you guys think it takes to get Gray alone, as well as a Gray and Doolittle package?

For just Gray something like Baez + Cease or De La Cruz or Clifton + Victor Caratini

                    Caratini is a C prospect. He may have started as a B (I can't remember) but he's a C now.

What about for both Gray and Doolittle:

Javier Baez, Eloy Jiminez, Oscar de la Cruz, and Duane Underwood?

I think it's a tiny bit of an overpay. Unless Gray is dealing. But since you're giving the prospects up it's better to overpay than underpay

I agree as I prefer not to trade both Baez and Jiminez. I'd rather replace Jiminez with someone else (not Happ).

The CPU will accept Baez for both Gray and Doolittle, which is obviously not realistic (in my opinion) and the reason I always post here regarding trades.

I'd be more willing to do Baez, Cruz, and another B prospect (maybe Eddy Martinez). But if I had to include Jiminez for both Gray and Doolittle, I'd most likely do it.

Here's the thing. The Cubs have 4 assets to trade for an ace. Jimenez, Happ, Baez and Schwarber. You won't do Happ or Schwarber so you're pretty much stuck using both Jimenez and Baez even if it means a slight overpay because the next tier down for the Cubs is really far down.

Fair enough but I feel like just Duane Underwood is enough after that. I keep Cruz.

The A's are getting a super-versatile, young player who can literally play any position on the field, my top prospect and one of my (formerly) top pitching prospects in Underwood.

I'm definitely giving up some pieces that I don't want to part with in that.

And again, I don't have the numbers in front of me but Gray and Doolittle are having average seasons while Baez has been solid.

                              I appreciate the discussion.

So what's your final option there? Baez, Jiminez, and Underwood for Gray and Doolittle? Or do you think I have to throw in a fourth piece?

Switch Underwood to Cease since Underwood isn't really much of a prospect.

So Baez + Jimenez + Cease for both Gray and Doolittle
