Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Looking to trade byron buxton. Looking to get young talent for him. He is having a terrible year battting around .098. He batted .220 last year. He's a 78 overall with A potential... i was thinking maybe one or two B potentials since he is struggling so bad with the bat. He is a plus defender tho so i guess he has some value... What do you guys think, is this fair?Comment

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
LONG POST AHEAD, SORRY!
What could the Padres get for the following players:
SS Erick Aybar: 5 HR, 33 RBI, .333/.398/.492, 2.9 WAR
- Obviously hitting really well. Would command something better than you normally would for him as he's gained a lot value. What package should the Padres be looking for?
RP Craig Stammen: 51 K, 4.27 ERA, 0.5 WAR
-I'd probably throw this guy in on a trade for Eybar.
------------------------------------------
Who package could the Diamondbacks get for Patrick Corbin? He's about to walk in FA and trading him would open a spot for Shelby Miller.
His stats: 4-9, 3.57 ERA, 81 K, 1.6 WAR
------------------------------------------
What kind of deals could I get for Pat Neshek, and Joaquin Benoit from the Phillies? Both are having really good seasons.
-------------------------------------------
Would it be realistic for the Royals, if completely out of the race (I'm talking worst record in the MLB), to trade away almost all of their good players? Like Cain, Hosmer, Escobar, Herrera, and Moose? All could potentially walk in FA after the season and they'd barely have anything to show for it.
-------------------------------------------
Lastly, what kind of individual packages could the Rays get for Derek Norris, Tommy Hunter, and Colby Rasmus? All are having average years except Rasmus, who is hitting .186 with only 8 HR & 15 RBI in 64 G. The Rockies really need a catcher, and could also add Tommy Hunter to help the bullpen.
I just finished the ASB and wanted to get some of these deals going before the end of July. HUGE Thanks in advance to ANYONE who tries to answer any of these questions.Last edited by Trent Booty; 06-16-2017, 05:04 AM.Comment

Aybar just isn't good. I know he has been okay in your chise but he's bad.
Maybe his performance lets you get a C+ prospect but probably just a C lotto ticket. Also there just aren't teams that are competing that need a SS. If I needed a rental SS I'd rather get Cozart from the Reds than Aybar
RP Craig Stammen: 51 K, 4.27 ERA, 0.5 WAR

He has little to no value. 4.27 ERA out of the pen is pretty terrible

I think we've talked about Corbin some. He shouldn't be a free agent after 2017. But at the pace he's going he should get you a low B prospect as the main piece. Maybe a mid B if you're lucky
------------------------------------------
What kind of deals could I get for Pat Neshek, and Joaquin Benoit from the Phillies? Both are having really good seasons.
Again, these are marginal relievers. Looking at C+ prospect as a best case

I think its possible they trade all but one. I imagine they will want to sign at least one long term. Moose to the Red Sox makes sense. Herrera to the Nats makes sense. Escobar isn't very good though and I'm vocal about my opinion of Hosmer

Norris had trouble finding work this offseason. He has little value. Tommy Hunter is a marginal reliever. See above. And Rasmus is hitting poorly and had trouble finding a deal in the offseason. He won't get much either.

None of the players you listed have much value. They're all average to below average MLB guys and no one will be drinking the Aybar KoolaidComment

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Thanks for the awesome reply! They Royals are the most interesting to me. In my franchise they're the absolute worst team in the league, and the only major injury they've had is Jason Vargas. The rest of the teams I mentioned are the other selling teams, but they all don't have very many good pieces. I might trade away some of their star players right at the deadline if I see someone as a lot of value.Comment

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Playing as the Brewers... my offence has been great, but pitching terrible. I can't hit with Orlando Arcia at all and have sent him back to AAA. I'm using OSFM rosters so fairly certain he is an A potential. Does a package centred around him get me a starter like Gray or Quintana? (Assuming Oakland and/or CWS are out of playoff contention)Comment

Jusr past the draft in 2019 with my Twins. Harvey is on the last year of his 2 year deal. Hes now 4-4, 3.36 ERA, 1.0 WHIP, and a 1.7 WAR.
Whats his value?

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Originally posted by Trent BootyI'm currently in mid-may, and there's only a few teams that are completely out of it at this point (less than .400 W%). The Brewers, the Braves, and the Athletics. Every other team in the league is still in striking distance of at least the WC. Who should these teams be looking to trade? These are guys I'm thinking but I would love some input.
Brewers:
- Braun/Thames are having good years and are their best players
-Matt Garza is playing really well out of the bullpen as a long relief guy, and obviously could be used as a starter elsewhere. I'm thinking about adding him to the rotation to gain some more value for him before I decide to trade him.
- Jared Hughes is a FA after the year. He is playing well..
Braves:
- Brandon Phillips is playing really well, hitting over .300 and took the leadoff spot from Inciarte.
-Kurt Suzuki would normally not valuable but he's hit really well (over .300 too) and has taken the full time C spot after starting the season as a platoon with Tyler Flowers.
- Nick Markakis has also hit over .300, playing every day. Also can be more than a rental as he has two years left on his contract. Maybe Giants? Don't know any other teams that desperatly need OFs
- Obviously Garcia/Dickey/Colon are available. What are they each worth? I'm assuming all around a C prospect but high? low?
- Lastly, Jim Johnson hasn't blown a save yet, and could be a nice set up man for a team in the race that needs a solid bullpen arm. Also would allow Vizcaino to take the closer role for ATL.
A's:
- Rajai Davis is struggling, and on his lastyear of his contractwhat should Oakland be trying to get? Also a option for the Giants, who need a leadoff hitter and outfielders. Low C?
- Ryan Madson and Santiago Casilla have been nice as setup men for Oakland. Sean Doolittle has been a lights-out closer for them. What would each of these guys get?
- Yonder Alonso, and Jed Lowrie are all having very average years. What's each of their value and what teams would be interested in these guys and what are they worth?
I basically want to know if these are they guys these teams should be trading, and what the guys they should be trading are actually worth. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me with any of these guys. Again, I'm only in mid/late May in my chise, so I probably wanna start banging out trades for these guys throughout June (well, maybe not Braun/Thames/Johnson/Doolittle trades) and then in July start doing bigger trades, like maybe Sonny Gray and some better guys from whatever teams fall out by then.
Also, I know it's been discussed but where's the most realistic landing spot(s) for Otani? I've seen TEX, LAD, SFG, NYY, and CHC as most likely. I'm leaning more towards a NL team so he can hit when he pitches. But Texas has the Darvish connection and you know NYY will be in the running.
Braun could get you a return... maybe a 40-50 ranked prospect and a 90-100. That could be a bit high, will see what others say.
Thames' is on a very team friendly contract and Brewers would want more than other teams are willing to give up as his sample size is very small.
Garcia could get you a B prospect if he's having a great (and healthy) year AND if there is a team that is desperate for starting pitching.
Rest of the Braves are worth a look but probably only high C guys in return for 1-2 of them and less for the rest. Markakis is probably worth the most.
Davis is a role player... would be nice to see him in the post season again but it's kind of a lottery pick for the team taking him so the return will also be a lottery pick.
Doolittle could get you a good headliner, top 50 and another top 100.
Otani... Is he 25 this offseason? If so, it's gonna be the Yankees, Red Sox... a big market team. If he's going to hit, it's more likely he'll do it in the AL as a DH. I don't see him being able to hit MLB pitching if he's only getting at bats every 5th day. Personally I think he's going to be a pitcher, full stop.
If I didn't mention someone it is because I don't know and/or they are only worth C prospects at best.

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
So could I do Bartolo Colon and RA Dickey to teams that desperately need a SP for a high C or low B prospect? I'm thinking the Rockies and Tigers. The Rockies would get RA Dickey and his NL top-10 2.35 ERA and 0.97 WHIP for a low B/high C and the Tigers would ship a C for Colon, who is posting pretty good numbers (~3ish ERA). That's all I know I wanna do for now.
So I already did Bartolo Colon to Detroit for OF Derek Hill, 21 Y/O, C POT, 58 OVR simple, realistic trade for a team fighting to make the playoffs.
I'm still looking for who on the Rockies to give for RA Dickey. Any help there?
Another team that's completely out of it is the Yankees. Who would they realistically be selling if they were completely out of it? They probably need to get rid of one of Gregorious or Headley to make room for Torres. Headley is currently on the DL until mid-June and Torres is doing really well playing third in his place.Last edited by Trent Booty; 06-18-2017, 09:08 AM.Comment

Realistically I don't think Dickey or Colon are worth anything... the only people who seem to think differently are Braves fans (I would know, I am one). Even though they are pitching well... it's May right? And they are OLD!! Teams would want to see how they hold up through the summer before giving them a roster spot.
Dickey is more valuable as he is a fierce competitor and much less of an injury risk (could re-sign and play for another 5 years). But still I think it's a C+ at best. He will certainly be retiring in the game.
FWIW i am also in the early months of a Braves franchise and my plan is to trade Garcia and Johnson and keep the old guys as mentors to the young kids who will be making appearances later this year and next. Going to move Ardonis (for basically nothing) and let Philips play a lot of 3b in September. MIGHT move Philips if there is a team with a hole due to injury but he's not worth much.
I've also edited a few guys on the Yankees to help them be more competitive. They have not had a losing season in 20 years and if they are in 1st place IRL with an MVP candidate, I am not prepared to let them have a 70 win season in my franchise.
Even if they were terrible, they seem dead set on not rushing Torres.
That said, he's already a stud in the Hybrid rosters and getting ABs in New York in my franchise so yea, they'd probably move an infielder if a team had a hole and was prepared to pay up.

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Ok so now that I did some early deals for the Braves.... on to the absolute worst team in baseball. The 27-53 Milwaukee Brewers.
Who should I be looking to trade, and realistically, what could they get for them?
Also, my main team I'm controlling (Mariners) are 36-43 and might actually be sellers at the deadlineI've barely made any roster moves besides injury replacements and DFA'ing Gallardo.

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Yeah, You're right. Probably not worth a low B. I'm into mid June now and Dickey is still going strong with a 3.20 ERA and 1.08 WHIP. I think since I'm dealing him to the Rockies, and because they're desperate for any pitching, I'll take a high C instead of a low B like I mentioned before. Even with Dickey, they could still be trying to nab more startng pitching
Does a knuckleball knuckle in Denver?
I'm not saying you can't get a C guy for Dickey but there is a reason the Rockies lead the MLB in 4 seam fastball rate.
Of course they are also tops in ground ball rate so maybe he does work there. I dunno... someone smarter than me can answer that!
