Your valuable pieces are Ozuna, Yelich and Realmuto.

The Cubs already have a good young catcher, you don't want to trade Yelich and I don't know how well Ozuna matches up. You have no pitching worth a team trading you valuable assets

Probably unrealistic but only because Cobb has no value since he been injured for the last two years.

If they are getting big hauls for both Archer and Ordorizzi then they could trade both if they are out it at the deadline.

The Astros are not trading Bregman and I'll leave the Baez one up to others but it's probably not too far off

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread

            Hi guys!

2 weeks away from deadline with my Braves (leading the division 3.5 games over Nats but they are chasing me).

Traded earlier for Villar but is injured for 1.5 month and just lost Sean Rodriguez for the year (surprisingly playing well with him as a platoon on all positions).

He's not getting younger and out for the season, I won't offer him a contract since I guess he'll lose too much attributes. Initial plan was to sign him for another year.

            Here's my situation :

Next year plan is to put Villar at 3B and MLB debut for Albies at 2B (#2 prospect now).

Should I fast forward my plan now (Albies isn't doing so great now in AAA) or look for a platoon guy with a similar Rodriguez/Brock Holt kind of guy (I do like my IF to be versatile) ?

Right now, I called up some minor leaguer that shouldn't sniff playing time in the Show.

If I acquire someone, any suggestion (and value for said guy).

            Thanks!

Would it be wrong to say the Cubs would probably only trade Baez if they are getting Archer back? I guess the performances of both make up for that.

Don't know that it's wrong but to get Archer they'd have to throw Jimenez on top of Baez. Baez isn't close to as valuable as Archer

Need some more information like what teams are in contention and not? What position was Villar playing third or second? If third, you could target a guy like Danny Valencia to play third if the Mariners are out of it. Eduardo Escobar from the Twins could be an option too if the Twins are out of it.

I always forget Archer being under control through 2022. I keep thinking he only has two or three years left of control.

Besides the fact that Baez has never been more than a 2ish WAR player and Archer has posted a 5+ WAR year

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread

Questions for my own Oriole Franchise. After a terrible last half of June and it continuing into July, I sit 6.5 out in the division behind the Yankees and behind both the Red Sox and Jays and 4 back in the wild card. I decided it's time to sell and look forward to the future.

Does a 1.5 year of Zach Britton (1-0, 0.89 ERA, 22/22 saves) who is performing similar to last year get Victor Robles from the Nationals? Or is a package of Feede and Carter Kieboom more realistic. The Nationals are leading the NL East by 4.5 games over the Mets. Koda Glover in my Franchise has struggled to an ERA over 5.00 and blown 6 saves already in 28 chances.

Then there is Manny Machado (.310/.388/.490 25 HRs, 62 RBIs). On paper Manny would net multiple top prospects undeniably. However, finding a fit and the prospects or major league ready talent to come back that makes sense is the trouble I am having. Should I focus on making a deal with the Yankees (which in real life I am not opposed to doing at all). I don't see the Astros moving a Bergman in the deal and the White Sox, and Braves are in complete rebuild modes that eliminates them. There is also the Cubs but I want to send Archer and Alex Colome to them for some combo of Schwarber, Baez, Jimenez, and a pitching prospect as pitching is more a priority for them than adding a bat. I would think them trading for a Archer would empty their system enough where they couldn't afford Manny unless a Addison Russell is involved in the deal or something like that.

Any thoughts and feedback on the deals would be greatly appreciated.

So Britton is awesome, let me start by saying that. But I don't think he's any better than Andrew Miller, and he costs more in salary than Miller. The package for Miller included one top 40 prospect (Frazier, he was 39 on the BA preseason list and 34 on the Fangraphs list), one top 100 prospect (Sheffield, he was 91 on BA and 97 on Fangraphs) and two lotto tickets.

I think that's your target area, not a top 10 prospect. But two top 100 guys, one of which is top 50. I know everyone sees that Chapman got Torres and thinks they can trade their relievers for a top 5 prospect but everyone knew that was an overpay at the time, Torres was a top 20 guy it at the time, and Chapman can do things no other pitcher can.

I was thinking Frazier was a bit higher on the prospect list and I remember seeing reports during the offseason that said Britton could get more than what Miller and Chapman got back. Which peaked my interest. Obviously it only takes one desperate team to make a stupid overpayment trade to kill the market. I will focus on top 50 guys as the headliner and then another top 100 guy as the second guy then a lotto ticket as the third piece if necessary.

                            Any thoughts on trading Machado?

Just that he's awesome it would take a big package but there aren't many teams that have a need at SS or 3b and an awesome farm while also competing

So midseason BA has Frazier 21 and Sheffield 69 so your target should be roughly ranked 25-30 and 75ish. There are two big issues when comparing Miller and Britton. The first is Miller's ability to go 2 or 3 innings during October baseball. That's super valuable and not something Britton has shown. The second issue is contract related. At the time or the trade Miller had 2.5 years of control at $22.5 total. Britton has 1.5 years of control and already has an arbitration salary of $11.4 this year and will likely approach $14 or $15 million next year. So you're comparing 2.5 years for $22.5 versus 1.5 years and maybe $20.5. You basically get an extra year at $2 million for the Miller side
